I've been doing some dreams for awhile now, and just started doing some fractal animation. While working on these I struggled to come up with names. Some skinners come up with cool abstract names for there skins, while others, like me, come up with names that resemble there skin (or think it resembles it). So, I was wondering, how do you name your skin?
Let me get this straight: Enhanced means normal and Free means crippled.
You got it backward. Free means free and enhanced means enhanced. My car isn't crippled because I didn't get the sunroof option.

Is your source video uncompressed or is it another compressed format? I found that WMV looses it's black and converting from uncompressed source works best.

Set the "Output Stream Type" to "ES (Video Only)" and the "Profile&Level" to "MP@HL" and it should allow higher resolution encoding. It will create a .m2v file instead of an .mpg file, but all you need to do is rename it to .mpg

I just wanted to wish everyone luck who entered the Alienware contest! :CONGRAT: There are lots of great entries competing! Don't suppose WinCustomize will be posting updates by announcing the top 10, then top 5 and so on? Or maybe like the reality TV shows where you announce which ones remain in and which ones are out?
Splode, I do not think is an official entry. It was created as a demo to help those entering the contesst...
Thats what I was thinking until I read this comment on the dream page from him:
Currently reworking this Dream and Splode Invasion dream. This dream will be a bit more detailed and will loop. A few new added effects will be included as well. We will call this a "test run". If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
I guess it's po

Like me, I bet JJ has a non-moderated acceptance level on Wincustomize. This allows any submission to be immediately approved and the show up on the site. This allowed him to enter the contest without question from Stardock. I'm sure it will either be removed or will be disqualified after the contest deadline. As for the Splode dream, is Seabass a Stardock employee or a contractor?

This is looking good! Remember, adding a moving moon or sun causes some issues with objects moving too fast on the desktop because you want to keep the video length short. If you stretch out the video to several minutes in length, then the video file gets too big and you have to lower the resolution or lower video quality. It's a delicate mix of size-time-quality. I've only been doing graphic stuff for about 8 months! I got a feeling the prizes will bring out the truly talented and experienced artists. Plus, I only have one month to come up with something. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to compete. On the bright side, I sure hope to see some awesome submissions!

What Excalpius is saying is that you start with non-looping clouds. Say 30 seconds. You the CUT the first 8 seconds of the video out and fade it in on top of the last 8 seconds of video. The start of the fade-in (8 seconds from the end) should look as similar to the start of your original cloud video as possible so that when you fade in the beginning that you had cut, it's not as obvious. Since the end of the video has the beginning of the video faded-in, it will loop. The number of

I just posted in another thread some info on some free tools: Instead of Photoshop, I suggest: [link="http://www.gimp.org/"]Gimp[/link] I let Google find a free 3D renderer: [link="http://www.blender.org/"]Blender[/link] Google also says this is a free video effects tool: [link="http://www.jahshaka.org/"]Jahshaka[/link] I know ffdshow has a free MPEG2 encoder.
