This is how the tech industry works. I bought x and now y is available that has more features/smaller/faster/cooler and is now cheaper that what I paid for x. The iPhone was out only two months before its $200 price cut. Fact is, early adopters pay more to have it sooner.

This is great news for all Vista users wanting to run animated wallpaper! I hope to see an increase of user created dreams when this comes out!
The article says "Freeloaders will be glad to know the standard version DeskScapes will be available for free, and there will be an enhanced version with “additional features and premium content” for $19.95"
Very exciting! This should produce an influx of new user created dreams as non-Ultimate Vista users get involved in the scene!
Instead of Photoshop, I suggest: [link="http://www.gimp.org/"]Gimp[/link] I let Google find a free 3D renderer: [link="http://www.blender.org/"]Blender[/link] Google also says this is a free video effects tool: [link="http://www.jahshaka.org/"]Jahshaka[/link] Let us know how these tools work for you and good luck! I know ffdshow has a free MPEG2 encoder.
Oopps, when I said Microsoft Foundation classes, I actually meant .NET (Thanks Pugboy for actually saying what I was thinking)
I'm not sure, it written in c#, so make sure you have the latest Microsoft Foundation Classes. Are you running 32bit Vista?
It only goes to 1440 minutes, but it would reset it's internal timers if the program is restarted. Basically its version .0000001 and it needs some work, but if your willing to try it in it's current form, I've uploaded it [link="http://home.comcast.net/~van.etten/Support/DreamManager.exe"]HERE[/link]. Suggestions are welcome, but I have limited time to share between dream making and software coding Master Baron
Did i win?
We are all winners!
You mean something like this? I wrote this about 6 months ago, but found that I didn't like switching often enough to warrant continual use. I like to have my dreams run for at least a week at a time. I guess I could have change the tool to include days.
mmmmm... cookies..
What would a frog with teeth eat?
Say it ain't so!
Sorry, i updated the description to let people know the video preview was actually twice as fast as the dream.
The is my reply!
The 24GB is the uncompressed 1920x1200, 30fps, 2 minute, render result. It amazing how big an image is when no compression is applied. I did get it down to a 112MB MPEG2 but at a 1152x720 resolution. The best part is that it still looks damn good. I hope to see it up on the site pretty soon.
I feel you've left us hanging for quite some time already and I've lost interest on a personal level.
Sorry about that, it took a week to render, (It finished while I was on vacation) and that was after lots and lots or tweaking. The problem is that while a single screen shot looked good, when I animated it flickered like crazy. It took awhile for me to find the right settings to get a good animation. And because it was so slow to make just a few seconds, it was a long
Is this the dream you are referring too?
I haven't purchased this dream and there are no previews or screen shots other than the one on the purchase page so I don't know if it can zoom in get a horizon type view.
Is this going to be a Master Skin?
I haven't decided yet, but leaning to yes. I've put many hours into this one. Some of my dreams will be Master Skins and some will be free. I will try and make more free ones than Master Skins. <br/

Thanks everyone, I think I got a final product to render.
do you think you could be able to make the atmosphere border a little transparent?
Thanks Intri, I'm still tweaking it and I'll be posting a final shot in the next day or so.
For the whole animation or a still?! I hope it is for the whole animation, hehe. Welcome to CGI! I have a 12 CPU render farm behind my sofa.
Yes, entire render. 12 CPUs, very nice! I have a old dual processor P3 733 PC, but not sure how much time impact it would have on the rendering time.
Seriously though, you might want to check you anti-aliasing settings
Your right, I have AA all the way up. I'm getting lots of flicker from the bump mapped mo
I updated the image with a new render so you may need to refresh the page to see the new image. Let me know if you think the atmosphere is still too large. And the render time has now jumped to 200 hours
