Why not try Octagons ? They are more visually appealing and to my way of thinking offer much improved "tile" movement although I've not tried to form an octagonal grid to see if it actually is build-able.
While I do love the Hexicon grids and it is great for combat as well as other things in TBS an Octagon grid would be fantastic. Count me in Now square grinds are good for genera

While 3d looks fantastic and is great in a FPS/MMO/RTS style game it is not as good for a TBS type game. Now you could have a 3dish looking TBS game like Homeworld that gives the feel of 3d but is actully still a 2d game. I do like turning on my hexagons so I would not want them removed.
This is the right decision to extend alpha and make this a solid game unlike the War of Magic and Elemental mess. I'm really hoping this game will be as great or even grater that Gal2. (tactical battles would be a great plus but yes I know they will sadly not be in GAL3) Besides I have Age of Wonders 3 to play which is about the best Fantasy TBS game out to date so I can wait for the best TBS Space Sci-fi to come out (I'm referring to GS3 by the way :)
I think the biggest surprise will be the multiplayer. The nature of GalCiv (on tiny maps in 1 v 1 games) works out remarkably well.
Will we be able to play MP on all map sizes? I really hope it is not limited to the small map.
Ok thanks Matopicus I will try them/
Not negative at all. I have messed with it and yes it is easier to deal with than other non-Mod tool methods but it is still kind of a pain. I modded AOW:SM a lot using the mod tools in game and it was easier than what we have here (at least it was for me but then I'm more of a visual person.) I guess my problem with it is that it is not fun to mod like AOW:SM is and some other games I've modded in the past. And the tools are a big part of that. Hav
It's funny that reading your post reminded me of a post i read about Civilization 5 a little while back. I love Civ 5 and will continue to play it (on and off) till 6 comes out. I have over 1100 hours in that game and look forward to more. Fallen Enchantress although doesn't meet _your_ standards meets mine just fine. I think brad did a WONDERFUL job at making the game easy to mod (it's xml files for god sake h
Well I played WOM a lot and I would say no it is not worth it. However I liked Heaven's idead to make a DLC for FE where you add the Dynasty rules (of coarse revamped. But to tell you the truth when Age of Wonders 3 coming out as well as Warlock 2 I probably won't be playing much of Elemental LH. You should really stick to GC3 now that is a game I'm really looking forward to.
I never have my heros running around with out an army. I think of them as commanders of the armies so if they don't have an army to themselves then they join another hero or SOV's army until one is built for them. They should not ever be as powerful and an actual Unit until they are higher level but can still along side otjher units and armies do damage to the enemies. And since Hero's never die (bad call by the way) it matters little if they do die.
That is just the same game as before with a few updates. It is not a remake
Quoting nickak2003, reply 80 Why exactly did elemental sell for 50$ when its made by a middle developer? plz dont try to make a baldurs gate clone They say that the new AAA game price is 60$ Why shouldn't they try to make an RPG like Baldurs Gate?
I'm all for a RPG remake of BG and am for Multiplayer in GS3.
I play more Middle Market games than any other and love that I can get nice sales of these games on Steam. My favorite over all game of all times AOW:SM is middle market and it's predicessor AOW3 will be as well and looks like it will be my next most played game of all time. Now I hope that my second new favorite game of all time will be GS3 but only time will tell. GS2 ties will Civ for the 3rd spot.
Personally I would not add any more unrest to the game. It is fine just the way it is.
Yes please work on GC3 that should be a prority it has been too long since we had GC game. Besides Diplomancy in Elemental is a bust anyway. Just please don't use the Diplomancy system that you have in Elemental in GA3.
Have to give a node to the new (at least for me) Undead that was added to the game. They are by far the funnest race to play. The game needs more non-human races to give it flavor. The current races were a bit boring and bland. Well now that the Undead has motivated me to play the game again at least until along with CIV5 and Warlock AOW3 comes out which will no doubt (based on what I've seen of the game) have me shelf CIV5, Elemental, and Warlock.

I brought up the same point that when you increase the monster level (like to 'insane') it actually makes the game even easier because of the experience increase that comes with it. On the flip side, it's fairly time consuming to gain experience against AI armies (and some variations of monsters, like skeletons,) but not necessarily more difficult in the long run. Right now, if you want
Quoting Velihopea, reply 2 City militias might play an important role at the start of the game, making it hard to instantly overrun the AI factions, but later on they are too easily overrun. Which is exactly what Stardock wanted. City militias are supposed to deter early game rushing. By the mid-game everyone should be able to build troops and defend their territory themselv
I just got finished playing a game with large map and 10 players. And a few odd things happened. 1) I had an Army with a few heroes and my sovereign inside an opponents territory. Well I ended the turn and I get this message saying that I had to pay 377 mana to teleport my sovereign to nearest city and that all my heroes that were in the stake took a wound. It did not say what happened and I was not attacked by another army because no popup came up and there were no armies
