Just one of those threads asking everyone what they do when they play... If you consider the initial colony rush #1 and the colonly rush for extreme environments #2, I would call the the Third colony rush the one where you go out and grap the PQ1's. I never used to go after all of them but i do now. I was just wondering who else makes it a point, later in the game to colonize them all. Or do you just grap some? And when? I take the ones that are deep in my space right

I guess I never noticed before, but as i finished off the laser weapons branch I noticed that the subspace annilator is missing from the available ships parts. I have the subspace blaster and the black hole gun but not the one between them even though i researched for it. Is this some well know bug that no one cares about? I mean its just one more week of reserach for the black hole gun, so I could see why no one cares that the one before it is missing but still....its missing.<

When your treasury hits 20000bc you lose a portion of your income. You should really try to keep it below that. It can be hard, especially when you bring in more than that per week. I don't know how much you consider too much, or what stage of the game you are in, but places where you can spend down your treasury is buying those planets that Jonnan just said, or just rush building on your planets. A quantum power plant will boost your production and take about 5000 bc t

I build one farm per planet only. That way i never have to build any morale structures and have all those extra tiles for stock exchanges. With 13billion people (typical planet with one maxed farm). you can have a good morale with taxes in the 70%'s with trade goods and yellow resources. when i get a planet bnear 13b I ship off 3b onto transports to fight for their new home, so I don't generally need more that one farm. Economic capital planet is different and will either be on a h

One of the best times with this game for me was when it was new and it seemed that every turn I'd learn or find something new. Like reading a great book for the first time. Didn't know how the AI would react, didn't really know any ways of taking advantage of the AI; It was like role playing since I didn't know how my chopices would effect the later game. I didn't necessarily do that great but it was fun. My only other 4x experience was with Civ2. So, enjoy your lack of knowledge. Thi

Or you could build economy structures rather then leave the planet idle. Personally i never leave a planet not building anything. But i think I'm in the minority there. But if you have the planet filled with facories and labs, you may need to change. I tend to have at least 30% of my tiles with economic structures; except for the tech capital and the manufacturing capital. If you're that early in the game that money is such a factor, then i think you may be wondering more ab

I'm not sure which version of espionage you are playing with. Sounds like its where you simply place agents on other worlds as opposed to having the permanent agents that only gather infoormation; since i think you can not take those off once you place them. Either way, Kryo is correct that once you achieve a level of intelligence you can't lose it. Hypothetically, if you had enough agents you could place them all on a civ at once and get high level, then move them all to another race the nex

I was 7 as well and have seen the original trilogy probably close to 50 times (maybe a low estimate). I think the new movies ruin a lot and so I pretty much disregard them as being the true history. I think every Christmas for years was centered on Star Wars toys. I've been slowly funneling some to my 5yr old son. Favorite line: "A death mark is not an easy thing to live with". No Crap!! thats why its called a "death" mark. lol

Are you sure that the +2 all categories if for ships and not the starbase itself? Either way thats pretty cool. I should get into building them more.

While it entirely possible that would cause a similar problem to occur, I never use rally points and yet had this happen to me many times. I just stop clicking on my ships while the AI is taking its turn and haven't had a problem since. Also this problem is usually noticed by the turn button not being there.

I've seen this before. It could be that they've given their treaties to a minor, it wouldn't show up on that "treaties" circle. I think you may see them if you click on "report" under the portrait of the AI player. I'm not positive if that will show treaties from minors though. No the AI doesn't ever ask for your treaties. Communication from the AI is pretty rare.

You can win if you can hold off wars with those superior militaries longer. You are playing the Drath so I figure that you already get the most powerful civs to fight each other. Where I've been successful in all games is the choice of weapon branch and the fact that I'll typicall have on-type defences and the AI doesn't. I can be way behind but once I get Aeron (spell?) Missile Defences I know I'll start taking zero damage soon (onvce the enemy's best ships are gone in the opening ba

Do those extra hit points stay with the ship or does the game "fix" it on the next turn or something? I don't really see this happen since my ships never take any damage [e digicons]:-"[/e] . Yea just kidding.

Question almost as short as the title: The score we get for economics; is it based on income, ie. the amount we make each turn that we see going to our treasury, or is it a function of our overall eceonomy? I ask because, due to differences in the way production and bonus production are "charged", sometimes there will be an increase in income just by increasing the research slider while decreasing the other two. Will I score higher in economy if i have more take home eac

Not that its a big deal BUT ... While looking at my Metaverse profile i noticed that when the cursor is over the Alterian the label says Acean. And when you move over the Arcean, it says Alterian. I then noticed while looking at someone else's profile that the played nothing but ALterian and yet their "favorite race" listed as Acrean. Weeeeird.

I actually don't like what the did with the show. Not to say I wanted it to stay pretty much a one-dimensional show that the original was. But I just found the show to make less sence as it went on. I wantch it just to see how it turns out. I think the whole thing would have been done great as a 5 part miniseries. I expected much more when I first heard that it was coming out. Towards the middle of the game star base weapons and defences do tend to be wastes. I always use fleets for protection, but i will add at least the basic offenses just so a stray defender can't take out a star base, that would anger me. If I lose track and send an extra constructor I'll let it add to the star base defences. Of course a lot also depends on how close to hostile territory the base is. I'm not entirely sure about this, BUT since star bases are treated the same as ships fo

You can not buy ships from minors as far as I can tell. As you said they don't even show up in the list. Starbases and mining resources are in that category for the purpose of trading. And I've never been able to get one from a major without offering all of my planets and techs. [e digicons]8C[/e]

Hoping someone can answer these for me: 1) Does the AI use past ship designs that we save? If so, would it be better to delete them so the AI doesn't get good designs? 2) What happens to a ship that is completed on a planet with a full starport? IS it auto launched or lost? thats it i guess. Thanks, Yar :]=|

Did you say
Xjgifdgh Twofhasf.
? He owes me money !!! i don't think Iztok was accusing you of hiding but was instead just pointing to a funny bit of irony. Anyway, I can't get to that link, my work computer is blocking that site. But i'll imagine what we're talking about. I don't think we'll ever see anything like a net-pin. My bet is the government has already thought of this but couldn't find a way to implement it.
