Since all races get a Super Ability, its not really an unfair advantage if you're using one. But if you want, you can just turn off SA's when you start a game. If you stioll want them on but don't want to be over powered, make sure which even races have the best one that you are not usinbg are still in the game. That is, if you go with the Yor, make sure that the thalans are in there etc. Some good ones that arn't TOO powerful are Super Diplomat (Human), Super Maniplulator (Drat

I've only recently started doing this as well. I've also been renaming any planets with capitals on them so I don't lose them. [e digicons]X|[/e] If I find a planet with an AI capital I'll rename that too. The only other renaming of planets I do is when I get to the PQ1 conony "not-so-rush" I add a "PQ!" before the planet's name so that I can find them all and do some quck builds on them, to get the up to par with all the other planets I have. An

... and no, you will NOT lose your current intel level if you reduce spending to zero. So, if you reach advanced, you should immediately stop spending since there is nothing more to gain. I believe that even if you cut spending you can still steal an occasional tech.

I usually give a starbase at least the most basic weapons, that is +1 in all 3 categories. This is just so some defender ship can't get in and kill a starbase, but I don't try to guard against large fleets or ships and I don't ever really get around to reseraching the techs either. I use fleets and individual ships to defend star bases. The AI will usually go after your stabases right away so its not a bad place to keep ships anyway. As for military styarbases, I like the idea an

Some basic pointers: Make more money and have more factories and labs. Infrastructure as GW said. I know, not always so easy. Basically you need to have better ships which means more research than that AI. This means that you will want to not go to war too soon. The best ways are getting potrential enemies to fight eachother (again, as GW said). You can also resaerch some diplomacy techs or have an early military which will help keep the bad guys away. Sometimes no matter what you do

i don't they ever leave. You would have to find a way to kill them all or go for a different victory condition. I wonder if they woukd go after assention crystal bases. I always wondered if it would be possible for say, the pirates to show up and have a war with the peace keepers. I think the event might be better if it scaled to the current state of the game. Even if its still overpowered, as it should be, it shouldn't be game ending. Maybe the peace keepers have

From what I've read in past threads, the Peacekeeper event doesn't work the way it says and maybe not even the way it was supposed to. In every case, the Peacekeepers will destroy everything. On the plus side they go after the AIs too. So if you have the event you're best bet is to go for a tech victory I suppose. Or maybe build very very fast transports to try to get AI planets.

This is an issue that has happened to most people at some time. I THINK it does have to do with clicking and moving ships after hitting "turn". The remedy I found most helpful was to zoom in as far as I could on a blank area; a few moments after, the ships started moving again. You could also click on each of your ships and move them or hit space bar, but this could take a long time. If you search, you will probably find numerous posts abaout this with other remedies.

To see what factors the AI is using to judge their relationship with you, go to the Foreign Relations screen. One of the tabs will show you a list of pluses and minuses. The more pluses the better relations. Some are apparently weighted mor heavily than others, like your military strength. I havn't noticed anything like Led Zergglin said but that is cool if the AI reacts that way. there are times where relations just change even when you aren't rteally doing anything

Sole Soul: Thanks for the info. Like I said before, I play so casually that I never followed the numbers. Basically I play that labs = RP factories = IP and more money is always a good thing, so stock exchanges are good. I just assumed that where it says somethinmg about your spending on reserach, for instance, that you were getting more RP than if that spending number was lower. And more stock excahnges and other income meant more money for research spending. Either way I

Are you sure that free tech is creativity kicking in or just that you had so little left on the previous tech that you had enough RP to get the next one in line? By the time i get to research my ship defences I'm pretty far along with my research capability and some early defense techs are cheap, so I may get up to 3 techs in one turn. When I'm nearing the end of a branch i adjust the slider so that it just changes to an exact week, so nothing is wasted. I'l

OK I was kinda refering to "income" as all the money that you make; that which that gets spent as well as whats left over as savings into your treasury. But if you don't make any money, what does RP and IP get funded by?

58 Replies 190,524 Views

Perhaps I've been wrong for some time. What I was saying that the more money you make the more gets spent on research and production, whats left is your income. So, if all other things remain equal, I thought that an empire making 10,000 bc per turn would be producing more IP and RP per turn than an empire than has an income of say 1000 bc per turn. Therefore the more bc you make the more IP and RP you will have. I have played for a while pretty successfully but I know that i could be wrong,
So say I have 2 PQ10 planets with a max pop of 8 billion. From what I'm gathering there would be no difference in the following 2 sceanarios (assuming morale is equal, both have max pop etc):
That is correct ralphnader, assuming of course that both planets have the same population.
I may try that, if I can just bring myself to research Stock Markets.
I can't imagine not building stock exchanges, but everyone plays diff

Or you can try simplifying things. Build one farm on every planet for a population of 13 billion and no morale structures at all anywhere. Get all trade goods, yellow morale techs and yellow resources. I don't really specialize planets except for low PQ (10 or less) which are just for economics later in the game. If you look at Willythemailboy's example: if each planet has the same or nearly the same population, having a stock market on 2 planets is the same as having 2 stock mar

Once you've gotten all the techs youwant or need, you can effectively stop the AI from getting anymore techs. Say once I get the final weapon and defence techs and everything else I want and the AI is still far behind I can stop all research for everyone.

I'm not sure at what stage inthe game you are. Early in the game everyone has a bit of a cash flow problem. Players have developed different ways to combat this, but its a concern for all. What I do is alternate between fatories and trade centers at the beginning. I get trade somewhat early to get the Economic Capital built. I try to get the government techs squeezed in as soon as i can. They offer econominc bonuses, morale bonuses and influences bonuses at the same time. Many peopl

Keep in mind too, that even though gifts can get you TO friendly and not beyond (as the others have already said), it is just one aspect of your relationship. That is, once you give some gifts you will still have to grow in other areas to get better relations.

Basically its not really worth it. I never build any powerplants or the structure that comes after it; fusion reactors?. I wait until I have the tech for Quantum power plant (i think thats what they're called). Then I will build them anywhere that I'd have at least 4 factory type buildings. Other wise another factory will be built. I know that the planet is getting prdoduction for other sources like moons, but I still use the 4 factory as a rule-of-thumb. Keep ion mind too that the ma
