I'm in for the round of June. Thanks for the vote of confidence KzintiPatriarch and PlayJeff45! However I'm not the best choice since I will be out for the round after (July) as I'll be abroad on holiday for 3 weeks. So for the sake of clarity it would be better to find a "permanent" team captain for team B right away...

1) When did you meet the other races? In an immense galaxy a lot can happen before you ever meet the AI. 2) Sun colour has no relation to the quality of the associated planets, except that yellow suns might have a higher chance of having habitable / better quality planets. Recently I have seen others mention that the amount of decent quality planets is lower close to their home planet and I have always experienced the same. At first sight it looks like this is part of the design, pe
...Second, I just posted a 13k score to the Metaverse which I sweat blood to do... and I read about scores plus 800k?...
800K is close to the highest scores ever submitted for a Metaverse game. In addition you'll need a gigantic (or with TA you can even go for immense) galaxy, preferably with everything set to abundant. And then pull every trick from the book to get everything up and running as fast as possible, etc. To put things in perspective I can't remember
That's always a bit the weak point of the trading screen: you can see to what technology the other races have access so in a way it's a little bit cheating.
That's also my understanding, though the details time dependent depreciation factor is still very much a mystery, at least to me :p For the life of me I wouldn't know whether continuing a game at some point would increase my final score or decrease it.
Sorry if my comment was unclear; it is not the average cash generation, but your economy score each turn is determined by the cash generation that turn. Just like for the other components (social, military, technology) the early turns have a much bigger impact on the final score than the later turns. 1. By lengthening the game, you decrease the overall score (the sum of all 4 components is divided by something related to the length of the game though I've never seen the real form
The AI doesn't cheat on Tough. It must be the result of some galactic achievement buildings + the AI setting its sliders mostly on military & social production.
... 1. Finish every game as quickly (in game turns) as possible - since points diminish with duration of game ... i) credits in the bank
1. It is in some cases possible to keep playing and increase your points though. i) No, it is your economy score (cash generation) each turn that is taken into account, not how much you don't spend.
In TA for the first time I noticed instances where I had close relations; the AI and I both had the alliance tech and yet an alliance was not yet possible. I've heard that 'close relations' is a requirement but not enough to be able to form an alliance, perhaps you're in the same case now? Or indeed the AI doesn't want to ally because it expects to win through Ascension.
"The glory of our race continues...we are now researching Xeno Farming. I am shivering at the prospect of Altarian kumquats.
Awesome! I understand your point but it would have been nice if you had been involved in writing some of the dialogues ;) I also wonder what the trigger is for those races to tell you such unimpressive news.
Can you disable victory conditions "In Game"? The reason I ask is that, since Twilight, I always end up having to chase down the Assension crystals once one or more races goes and decides to assend. It isn't a big deal, but I am mid game at the moment and don't want to restart again just yet.
Eradicate them... Or flip their planets, then invade the remaining worlds. Or go for any other victory. I've even managed tech victories beating an ascending race to the finish,
In addition to treaties, 2 trade routes with a race can also work nicely to improve relations. Once some civilizations have researched more advance weapons techs for example in the mass driver / missile branches, I often sell my laser techs when I'm already at plasma weapons. The practical use of such weak weapons for them is almost zero but in tiny / small galaxies with rare everything the cash from selling a few of those techs helps. Now that Particlewave mentions alliances, the t
... I guess it took too long and that's why my score was so low.. Oh.. a question. How do you all get your medals at the bottom of your screen? I've just been promoted to "Beginner"!
Length is only one aspect; a key part in scoring is also getting everything up and running as soon as possible, that has a big impact on the final score. There's currently a forum bug preventing medals from showing up in Internet Explorer. Firefox seems to do fine though.
As far as I know the 4.00 thing is exactly the point as of when a planet has a chance every turn of flipping. The AI will not be concerned with you building influence starbases in your own space; it's only when you build them in the territory where the AI influence is higher than yours that they will make remarks about it. However your influence on Mars will impact diplomatic relations, see if you have a minus for "our large influence" or "close borders". It's only 1 factor on the d
Amen to that & back to TA :)
Today I took the #1 All-Time spot on the AltMeta. The Conquest Hero Miaowara Tomokato has won a victory that has expanded our mighty empire by 866,750 light years (points).
Whoa to both pieces of news & well-deserved congratulations to both ! :CONGRAT:
Always build something - unless you can use the unspent military production as an addition to social production (e.g. when building galactic achievements or other time-consuming buildings). And you can always use either more military ships or constructors to improve starbases, so yes there's always a good reason to keep building :)
Very nice CityMan! I've managed to keep 1st place in Solar - Civ and took the #10 in Solar - Mil. Dropped 1 place in Galactic - Civ to #6 though.
1) In production they are third. Are you one of the 2 races that can catch up with the Arcean military production? 2) How is your relation with the Arceans? If you're getting along fine, I'd go for cultural assimilation, building maximized influence starbases near their production planets. Usually as long as you keep enough elements that lead to positive relations (diplomacy, trade, treaties, alignment, etc.) you have some buffer where you can spam them with starbases without getting in

There's been plenty of discussion on the mega events - and even some of the more impactful other events. The idea behind them is to throw you off-guard even when you're doing well, forcing you to adapt your strategy to this new environment (survival of the fittest). As for the 2 examples you mentioned: 1) Influence: even with the reduced influence, building concentrated maximized influence starbases next to AI planets should still allow you to flip them, which in turn will incre
Ah, the visuals behind the tiles are just a background. Adding some algorithm linking usable tiles to the randomized background would again use some additional resources (RAM, CPU) and all those bells and whistles would in the end bog down the game. There are some more instances where it was decided to keep the design more simple, allowing to reserve most of the resources for the AI and its strategy.
1. Fleet building is typically done for pre-invasion (emptying AI's planet orbits) and to guard your transports. The advantage of a fleet is that all your ships will attack at the same time, making for a more concentrated offense. Sending one ship after the other against an enemy fleet will result in all enemy ships firing at 1 ship of yours, then the same happens to the second ship when you send that one, etc. 2. What to build in a fleet? For pre-invasion, anything with big offensi
Building farms + morale buildings can be a way to improve your economy (though depending on the race it might be more profitable to build econ. buildings instead) but it also helps to increase your influence if you're pursuing that kind of victory. In addition, it give a much larger pool of people to fill transports with, so farms are not entirely without use.
Are there like bonus point multipliers for any wins with harder AI settings?
Welcome and be sure to take a look at the different threads here where you can get tons of useful info and tactics to improve your playing... Difficulty level does affect scores but not by that much; I've never seen the multiplier figures though. Just play whatever level you feel comfortable with; however leagues like this one are great to push us to give the higher level a try :) <b
