DL player here. I've tried the all labs and all factories strats in the early game, but typically switch to all econ later. I could see going all econ from the beginning if the AI would sell certain techs, but there are some that it won't let go of, no matter how much money you have. Still, you have my interest going. I'll try an all econ after I do a league game, which will be after my current empire game. Should I post the results here?

It seems worse on IE6 than IE7. The forums sometimes freeze and after a very long wait, I close the browser. It gives the "End Now" pop-up. They've always been real slow, but it seems worse as of late. Clearing the cache seemed to help before, but not so much for the past couple of days.

I'll use ctrl-n for league play or tournaments if I get a less than desirable start. Personally, I think everyone should to put it all on a level playing field. There's no point in doing it for regular games though, so I go with what's dealt. The AI lobotomy is thorough. It resets everything to Cakewalk, including the difficulty for scoring purposes. I've been playing windowed mode for a couple of months and haven't noticed any difference. I have noticed that any other program that takes CPU focus will send Galciv2 to the background. (My most common one is AVG Anti-Virus, when it updates). It almost looks like a CTD, but it comes right back when you click on it in the taskbar.

Thanks, folks. How you have the patience for all that micromanagement is beyond me. There are so many aspects to the game besides just dominating the AI. The final score is a little higher than planned, even though first contact and initial trading went a bit slower than usual. I suspect that the social bonus tiles in the beginning of the game had a lot to do with that. Posting the game furthers the cause of evirul. <img src=" http://inlinethu

The time comes to adjust research to end the game in one turn. The Weber system has the economy starbases that help research and production. I want the rest of my planets adding the maximum possible to my economy. It's important on Tech Victories to set the final research to end on December 15th instead of December 22nd. For me, racial abilities are a pretty tough call. It depends on the type of game I'm planning on playing. Then again, there are some basics and I agree largely with Mumblefratz. I also play DL, so I can't speak to DA yet. My maps are usually small, 9 opponents and difficulty is suicidal. I'm most comfortable with a crowded map and enemies within easy reach.
