4.) Ship maintenance makes the old strat of SB arrays not as effective. No more 15000+ little ships sitting under all those starbases racking up points.

It shouldn't kick in an extra times depending on the map size, unless your factoring in the higher cost of research slowing the game down. If you finish a gigantic game in 3 years, and you finish a tiny map game in 3 years, the probability of creativity functioning should be the same, as far as I know.
What's the purpose of this wall of text?

You could also not respond at all. That would be pretty cool too.
Well, my original purpose was t
Good - free maintanance on top 5 colonies is "ok". I think you net about 12 x 5, or 60 BC each turn. You get sme diplo bonuses with other good races, which is pretty minimal. You get "special" defenses, like empathic armor, etc. that only good races can build. These are pretty good, AND you get bonuses to defense in general just for researching them. Evil - you get money for some trade routes in your influence, not all that great. You get psyonic weapons, which rock. At least t
When playing with minors, gift/sell/trade them the techs "Trade I" and "Advanced Computing" as soon as possible. They will immediately start building economic and tech. capitals. As soon as you see them complete it, conquer them, and you have a second...and third...and fourth capital of the corresponding type, not to mention a PQ 15 world. Just be sure to have YOUR capital at least queued up on a planet, otherwise you can't build it after you've conquered another.
Every time I see about the tornados getting worse "just desserts" comes to mind.
Wow, another super-caring individual about other people when natural disasters strike. Did you travel to China to spit on people when the earthquake struck? I bet you're the guy who stole all that Red Cross food in the aftermath of the Tsunami, because they deserved it. I bet you even donated money during American Idol because you care so darn much and wanted to show it. Ev
Tototo / Piznit: Overwriting an intended faction weakness seems a little bit munchkin to me. And using the creativity perk is definitely munchkin, at least in this version of the game. Who knows, maybe I should do these things just to balance things out.
I'm not sure what "munchkin" means, I'm assuming it means cheesy. Although I don't see how overwriting an intended faction weakness is "munchkin". Your still penalized either way you look at it. The Arceans have to was
I did something similar to Tototot. The one game I played as the Arceans in TotA, I gave them a +1 to speed and creativity, skipped colonizing any planets whatsoever, and immediately started researching engine and invasion techs. Knock out a homeworld or two of the AI's and you dont have to bother colonizing at all.
WhaaAAaa? You didnt like Transformers? ;p Megan Fox alone made me like that movie...
Would you think less of GC3 if it abandoned the conquest-centered approach of GC1 and GC2 for a more open structure
Nooooooo, I won't think less of it. Supreme Court strikes down "medical marujauni" usage. In related news, reports of suspected glaucoma drop drastically.
Bette Midler has nothing on Rosie O'Donnell from Stakeout II
Also, where are your sliders set? How much research are you doing, and is your spending at 100%?
I had not heard that it earned more money at the end of a trip, I thought it just earned more for a longer trip in general. Learn something new everyday!
This just in: America is split on opinion of Bush as Uniter or Divider... And in medical news: Boiled nuts help ward off disease, but doctors having problems with getting patients to sit still.
Reporting in as well. I was in California for almost 2 weeks, so I look forward to playing a few games again. We are still doing a draft, correct?
I usually bump it to a colony ship as well. Little tidbit for you. When you upgrade your starting miner to the standard colony ship it should cost 66 BC, not 170. BUT, if you look at the 2nd option, I think it is 44 BC with 3 BC for 4 weeks, for a total of 56 BC. A savings of 10 BC!! ;p One of the rare exceptions in the game where it is cheaper to extend the lease than to buy it outright. Too bad you only save 10 BC... Sometimes if I see a juicy military or morale resource I wi
What difficulty are you playing on? The AI gets bonuses at the higher levels, so sometimes its hard to compare ship to ship. Also, each branch of weapons functions a little differently. Some are cheaper to research but larger when added to a ship. Others are expensive, but you can cram lots on a hull at a time. Basically to keep up with the AI you have 2 options when it comes to ship building. 1. Pick one line of weapons techs, lets say beams, and keep researching farther
Stephen King's It, when it was that damn clown. Scary clown... Also, the Succubus and Lochness Monsta from Southpark.
Heres a sweet diagram I made. It took me like 5 hours of hardcore Photoshop work to do this. So when you look at this, when you add additional bases it doesnt matter where they are as long as the route cuts through the fattest part of the influence circle. Enjoy!
Stacking them VS. spreading them out doesn't really matter, other than defending them and possible effects that base may play on foreign relations. What matters is having the freighter/route staying inside the influence for as long as possible. So if you put the base near the homeworld and the freighter is traveling to the left, but you have half your sphere on influence on the OTHER side of the planet (right) that the ship never travels through, you have effectively wasted half of tha
What I would suggest is that nationally we pick a time frame and just not buy gas for a week and see what affect that has.
Probably none. In the Fairytale-Land where that would happen, the NEXT week everyone would be buying gas at the same time...and getting pissed at the long wait.
Hmm, if stock charts say anything about the profitability of a company, you might get surprised when looking up e.g. the 5 year chart of Exxon. So I would'nt call that peanuts
They aren't that expensive to outright buy, either (the biosphere thing). It doesn't take terribly long to stack a planet with 72 tiles. It's more a novelty thing, just to see a class 72 planet. It really doesnt help much, though. Like spyder said, in the time it takes to get all the tiles, and build something else on them, the game was over 2 years ago.
I vote for Informer by Sno. For when I want to lick the boom-boom down.
Well I've still been winning. I'll keep your advice in mind though.
And there's a lot to be said for that. It's really just opinions and preferences. If you are happy or feel that 2 weapon types are better, then by all means, keep doing that. It might or might not be "the best", but that doesnt really matter if you are happy doing it that way and it works.
