Well, I think the Thalans get a miniturazation bonus, which would allow them to add more weapons, and they might have weapons bonuses with their racial points as well, maybe even the war party political set-up. But I am unaware of any race getting beam weapon tech bonuses, except for the Korath, they get that weird ion weapon thing. Have you actually fought the ships? Are they using psionic beams? You can get those fairly early. As for the Krynn, I'm not sure why they are do
Excuse me? I will have you know New Jersey is not the butt hole of this country, all you need to do is take one look at a freaken map dude and if you had a half a brain you would see that plain as day!!!! It is so obvious that New Jersey (where I was born and rasied) is clearly THE UNWASHED LEFT ARMPIT!!!!!!
Agreed. West Memphis, Arkansas is the butthole of this country. So I guess I'm proud to say I live NEXT to the butthole. Good ol' Memphis, TN!

Agreed, lets say you have 10 missile and 10 laser strength and your opponent decides to counter with 10 defense of beams. Roughly, you'll have the full 10 missile getting through and all of the beam neutralized. Now lets say you decide to simply make your warship 20 beam and no missile. The enemy will still absorb 10 beam, allowing the other 10 damage to hit the ship, so no difference overall. But, by focusing on just one weapons line of development, you'll get farther along the branch allow

Yea, I have noticed it as well. Sometimes I just close the entire browser and reload the page and it seems to work better. I'm sure thats a "ghetto-fix" for some of the more technical geniuses of these forums, but its about the best solution I have found when I need to post something extremely important...like how Star Wars is not Sci-Fi but rather historical.

Regarding the lighting issue. I got so tired of it being so dark that priorty #1 when playing a race other than the Cat would br to make a ring enchanted with nightvision that I could hotkey to wear when needed. Haivng to do that just to SEE, is kinda lame

CommanderGizmo: So if I just installed from SDC (not sure what Impulse is), what would I need to do to RE-install it? Just delete the whole darn thing and try again? And other than experimenting with research times again, how would I know if the new re-install "worked"?

I REALLY enjoyed reading this thread. Lots of humor here, good times and noodle salad for everyone! Anyhow, for what its worth, I would like to add that I have started to see research times that don't make sense as well. We can rule out install problems because I didnt have the beta anyhow, but my problem as been with the Korx. Games plays fine, econ is perfect, I'm on a tiny galaxy, masochistic, with 6 or 7 opponents. I control 17 planets. Needless to say, I'm "winning" at

My money is on them telling you they will be there between the hours of 12 and 6 PM. You'll take off work, and at 6:45 PM, some guy will call you "lost" for the last 2 hours and has been looking for your house.

Well, since everyone knows that Star Wars happened "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away", the movies are not really Science Fiction as much as they are Historical Documents. Sci-Fi channel, IIRC, doesnt focus much on biographies or re-creations of historical happenings, so it probably doesn't like airing the movies. All kidding aside, it probably doesn't want to pay the licensing rights to show the

Well, TA changed quite a few things, and most related to economy. 1. Starting cash is lower. The Korx have a solution in that they can rush buy ships cheaper, which is nice, and you can get it in the first 2 turns or so, its a tech you research. Anomolies also help a lot, so speed can be important, and neither the Korx nor the Krynn get a speed penalty, like the Arceans (lame) 2. Some races have population growth penalties now. But not the Korx or Krynn. 3. Build

Try the Korx or the Krynn until you get the hang of it, they have fairly manageable economies. On a smaller map with a lot of opponents, War Profiteering is fun. And the Krynn have crazy morale and influence boosts, making ehe econ aspect pretty easy.

Very impressive, DA. I am still amazed by you guys who are patient enough to get those scores. I don't have it in me to do that. P.S. If you're a fan of The Office, add a "Thats what she said" after that last sentence up above

Galactic achievements I am not so sure about, but IIRC, capitals and things that give you a percentage bonus do not "stack" with bonus tiles. Buildings that give you an exact bonus, like a factory, are modified by bonus tiles.

I do have an option #4 you could consider. You are the evil Yor. I think you should sell off everything but the farms and then gift that planet to a fellow neighbor and let them deal with all those angry robots...
