Well, I can tell you one little hint that might help. If you do get in a war with them, make sure your transports have enough speed/engines on them that you can move around those annoying swarms of corvettes they get when they declare war. As to avoiding war with them, try making some earlier ships, even a cargo hull with a simple laser on it. A few of those will at least give you SOME military rating, which will delay the inevitable bullying tactics.

Thank you Mettra, I enjoyed writing it! I used to love arguing with people who thought the exact same thing about EverQuest, because it was "addictive and it was outright killing people". I always imagined that EverQuest as a 300 pound New Yorker with really bad sweat stains killing people with his EQ knife. World of Warcraft is much more refined than that. When WoW goes on a killing spree, I envision him wearing a nice camelhair trenchcoat with Ray-ban's... ...but he probab
very nice, congrats :)
Yeah I noticed the YZW score padding too. Seems a bit cheesy to me but to each their own. Anyway, I'm starting a new campaign soon too so we can get to 9th rank sooner rather than later.

I do agree to some degree....definitely a cheese factor
Think of it perhaps not so cheesy or "padding" for a top 25 spot, and more along the lines of a different means to an end for getting medals others don't have simply by joining an empire...its all in
Thats the best part!
Then read the manual. Trying to answer a very specific question like "how do i play this thing?" is tough to do. When you grasp the basics of the game that you can learn from the manual and the tutorials, you'll have a better direction of where to go with your questions.
Give me your feed back!
Don't say you didn't ask for it! I heard that Blizzard refined a super-secret technology where they can condense nicotine to its most addictive form and convert it to a digital code that they subliminally insert into World of Warcraft. Thats why it is so addictive. On top of that, they hire Mexicans at pennies to the dollar, to create new players that will be your friend just to keep you paying the monthly subscription.
Perhaps think of it this way... It is a MIND CONTROL CENTER after all. And it is Evil of course. Perhaps it IS working as intended, just not on the subjects you think it is...oooooohhhhhhh, conspiracy is afoot! Question everything! Nefarious schemes are all around it!
hah red-headed step child. As a side note, I was going to point out to Silverbeacher that earlier when we were trying to figure out what it takes to get the "Fleet Admiral" icon, it obviously isn't 250 wins, unless that one is broken, too. Neilo's still reads as "Admiral". Sorta reminds me of early days playing EverQuest, when we would kill high level boss monsters that would subsequently have no loot on them, because the designers figured no one would kill them
Could someone from stardock please clarify what the present effect of the MCC actually is please.

Thank you stardock for your fast reply!
1. When you build it, your econ improves dramatically, like 100%. If you want exact numbers or question my uber-specific answer, just build it, heck, rush buy the thing on the longest lease possible, and watch watch what your weekly income does... 2. Planets you are trying to flip to your control
All the metaverse does is record the score of your games and puts it in the huge database of players who submit any score to the metaverse. You can see how you rank scorewise against everyone else. Not all scores are equal, because it doesnt take into account the type of victory, galaxy size, or anything else and compare it to other games of the same type. Just your final score. So someone who is playing with the tech rate of "very slow" on a tiny galaxy and wins by tech victory will
if the AI starts out with stellar cartography, wouldn't that then make my point valid? From what I'm understanding on what you have written, is that, that tek is a given to all AI, reguardless of race(ie the humans, if they are one of the Civ AI, will have stellar cartography) while I, the human player, will always have to research it. I think that's what your saying.
Not quite. Its just a tech that the Terrans (not necc. "Humans", as in the actual person s

Are you talking about actual loyality, or do you mean approval? It sounds like you mean approval, which will be directly influenced NOT by starbases, but mainly by your tax rate. Researching the entertainment branch will increase morale/approval as well as allow you to build better entertainment centers, trade goods, and wonders. Higher population on planets = lower approval as overcrowding becomes a concern. As far as I know. loyality and approval are not linked. Influence and loya
Can I be Zap Branagan?
Well, if you're anything like me (and how would we ever really know that?) I would play DA until you're comfortable with the game and the mechanics. I couldn't imagine trying to learn and enjoy a game when something didn't go as expected, not knowing if it was from a bug or if thats how it was intended to be. And along that same course, playing DA and anticipating TotA just makes it that much better when I do play it, hopefully with slightly LESS bugs.
I dont think it moves your score in the end, other than the small econ hit you take from the lease in general. In the fast wins you are WAAAAAAAY negative because of leases, yet it skyrockets your score rush buying that tech capital or MCC, even though it drops your weekly econ
Now when i check the Krynn's abilities, i thought maybe i would see some minuses in the areas that the pacifists have as pluses. Should i have? does the AI get penalized as the human player does? Or could it be that the penalty wasnt enough to bring those abilities to minuses but just reduced them?
If my understanding is correct, you wouldnt see minuses in what the Pacifists abilities are, you would see minuses in whatever the old government was. Like if they were origin
My favorite aspect of MoM was "finding" or hiring the heroes, and then creating artifacts for them. I loved making Gauntlets, brooches, staves, etc for them to use. The fact that it was broken and your heroes could singlehandedly wipe out entire armies and civilizations is of little concern. Windwalking and the Phantom Giant things were fun ;)
The possible problems I see with trades are that... 1) It might take a while for the captains to sort it out and come to agreements when negotiating, thus delaying the next round. 2) Damn, I forgot my second point! Some of my co-workers are squawking particularly loudly today and distracting me.
Cats should not be working with squawking birds. It promotes poor productivity at work and leads to all sorts of things... <
I think you missed the joke ;)
If this was a pickup playground softball game (and it's really not so different from that) then the captains would automatically be the two best players.
When we play frisbee, we always make the 2 girls be the captains. :CONGRAT:
Short answer: With a LOT of micromanagement. Longer answer: I will pick a few choice worlds that will crank out ships and actually focus on those. A lot of the others I will queue up a lot of building (stock markets, farms etc) and forget about them until I get the report that xxx built something, and the next build is "nothing", then I will go to that planet and see if anything else need be done. As for ships I will usually use the governor function to auto build constructors or war
Be careful, she'll steal all your women ( ;) )forcing your population growth to drop to zero, unless you like test-tube babies...
Well I will weigh in on the different races played by the AI. From a standpoint of how the AI plays them as my opponents I would almost disagree with you 100 percent from top to bottom. This is from a DA standpoint. The TOUGHEST races to play against (to me) would be the Altarians, Humans, and the Krynn. They at least work toward a technological advanced fleet of ships, and if left alone for too long will start to cause major headaches. Whereas your top 3 (Torians, Iconians,
