I think the division of the GC2 forum is ok, it's just that an awful lot of cross-posting is going on lately - especially from the Impulse forum. And why is Political Machine 2008 here under strategy, when it clearly has (or should have) its own, completely separate forum?

But ships in X3 aren't as freely designable either. ;) And frankly, 95% of the time I play in icon mode anyway, just zooming in for key battles or when I want to admire the view. For the shipyard, however, the graphics are just fine. By the way, can anyone explain why a design called 'Barracuda' looks like a Manta Ray?

And what the hell at the German 28 days vacation? Minimum. Usually 30 days, paid vacation, with the option to save vacation days up until March the following year. Salary about 40k a year, plus a significant bonus dependant on company profit and of course employer-paid healthcare. Like I said, I won't be leaving to work in the US anytime soon. ;)

Hm. If someone offered me a 50-hour week, personally - I don't know anybody who'd accept, unless the salary is VERY good. Plus you typically get either paid extra hours or extra vacation days... (in addition to the 28 minimum a year). Add to that the fact that health insurance is partly paid by the employer (until you reach a high salary level)... Yes, I think I'm quite happy to stay working in Germany at the moment. :D Back on topic, though. A friend of mine is

Hm. Even with extra hours, 45 hours a week is a little much, isn't it? 37 - 40 hours a week is the norm, even for software developers. Of course, developing games usually is a bit more fun than other jobs. ;)

I'm a bit doubtful about the multiplayer mode of GC3. My main interest in games is SP, and GC2 provides an amazing AI. I fear that multiplayer would lead to much more tweaks in order to make races balanced as opposed to the varied approach that GC2 offers. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to not-MoM in particular.

Yes. The Metaverse character used is saved with the game. When loading a game, it will ask you the password when actually submitting the finished game.
If they were truly 'random events', you wouldn't have to do that!
They never were intended to be. All the events in this thread are 'Mega Events', designed with the purpose to shake the game up if the player seems to be winning too easily. That's also why you can choose them to be on or off during galaxy setup - unlike the true random events.

A small map with fast tech won't last more than three years at most, which wouldn't be much of a succession game. I'd also deactivate tech trading. Also, if you start it as a Metaverse game, it will be submitted under the game creators Metaverse character - so you should probably use the 'normal' game instead.
The EULA states I should read it before use. This totally bullshit, to be valid I need to have read it before sale. It is void.

The EULA is not even legal in most parts of Europe including Germany.
I've been saying that for years...

More engines only help establish the route faster. Other than that, the only addition that sometimes can make sense are better sensors.

I'm very sorry and offer my sincerest apologies, but I won't be able to complete my game this round. Even though I'm not one of the best players, I hate to leave my team a man down. However, I'd like to stay on the roster, as the situation hopefully will be resolved before the end of the round, so we're back at full strength for round eleven.

FS X and IL-2 1946 are two of the greates sims out there. Il-2 was the sole reason for me purchasing the Saitek X-45. ;) If you want a cold-war era flightsim, you might try Wings Over Europe - can also be merged with Wings Over Vietnam and Wings Over Isreal, similar to the Il-2, Pacific, Ace and '46 merges. Falcon 4.0 is a great game (I own Allied Forces), very, VERY detailed operations, but limited to the F-16. WoE isn't as detailed, but realistic enough and you have a myriad

Hm. Only played the original Dungeon Siege and never was a big fan. From what you write, it sounds a bit like the 'Crysis Syndrome'. I'd rather spend my money on the newly released Drakensang. Proper, old-school RPG. :)
