Simply stunning. I'm speachless.

Yep. Still, maybe the forum could add a line to the ORIGINAL post. Something like 'posted from www.sinsofasolarempire.com' or something like that. There were quite a few flamefests when it became clear that 'gaming' and 'OT' posts were shared between joeuser and galciv2. Especially if topics like this keep popping up. This one was easy, but the last one about ship sizes / classes was truly misleading.
Warden is an anti cheat program. it does not have anthing to do with DRM. it just checks your game if it was manipulated by hacks. thats why it is mentioned in the screenshot of the bot program "exit on mid-game warden update".
Yeah, I found that out too late. It still was Blizzards argument. And you're right, it has nothing to with DRM, that's why their way of trying to use the DMCA was denied.
But Blizzard is not a German company
Not easy to formulate this in a foreign language... You bought the software in Germany. Blizzard HAS a German distribution centre, believe me. They have German support hotlines. The software is used in Germany. Therefore they have to adhere to German laws. Otherwise just about every company could do whatever they want. "Cars? Who needs German restrictions, we're a British company." Sorry, if you sell pro
Let me clarify the legal situation. The EULA roughly translates to the German 'AGB', which basically tell you when and how much warranty you get, what sort of damages are not covered, rights for usage, etc. §§307-309 BGB state that 1) certain clauses within the AGB are always void, if they conflict with existing law. In that case either the clause is voided completely, or the corresponding law is applied. 2) AGB are void entirely, if they are not presented PRIOR TO SIGNING THE
Blizzard goes out of their way to NOT restrict folks from using their service except when explicit evidence is found that they're breaking the EULA or TOS
And what about countries (in Europe, Germany for example) where said EULA is void by legal definition?
No, Blizzards argument seems to be that the bot circumvents Warden, which is Blizzards DRM system. However, the bot doesn't do that. You still require a legal copy of WoW, you don't violate the copyright. Also, Blizzard sues the developer of the bot for profit losses because of reduced playtime of the gamers.
They should be right there where they always were.
Before anyone complains about yet another carrier thread: This post seems to come from the Sins OT forum, not the GalCiv one. ;)
EULAs themselves are illegal and (theoretically) void. At least in Germany. I wouldn't try to sue any game company over it, though.
That post probably could've used a couple more smilies. ;) It was more ironic, tongue-in-cheek than a serious comment on that playstyle. I have the utmost respect for your skills at getting such scores. I tried, and fail miserably.
Awesome game! Now, if you're tired from all this boring extreme score-milking style, stop by for a pint at the [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/300853"]Year Zero Club[/link] and enjoy the opposite end of the spectrum!
Yep, although I'm debating if there are enough interesting games still out there that the cheaper token pricetag as opposed to pure money is worth it. Demigod is still tokenbased, Star Assault, ... Any chance of getting a flightsim like Wings over Europe on TGN?
Does it run under Vista? The requirements only list XP, and after Etrom, I'm a bit more cautious. ;)
Alright, I have one token left, and since Impulse won't support them, I'll spend it right now. Originally I wanted to get Etrom, but it seems that it is not compatible with Vista. After the refund, I still have my token left. So, any suggestions what I should buy? Star Assault looks interesting, but it's more than 1 token. Heli Heroes perhaps? I already got the two expansion packs to Imperium Romanum, or they would be my choice.
The shipyard design screen has rotation off. It's only the display when looking through the already existing designs that rotates.
Rotating the view is done with the middle mouse button.
No. No activity with the launcher running, no activity with launcher and website, and no launcher on reboot.
Another hint that it's a mockup: Terror Star on turn 1. (Look at the date in the top right corner) Plus the Star itself is much larger than the planet or the sun itself. They probably built a 'Terror Star' using the ingame parts that are available and replaced either a starting ship or cheated the ship and added the effect. The blurry edges of the 'beam' (as opposed to other ingame effects) adds to that theory.
Actually, with TA, there ARE tournaments - fixed scenarios in the Metaverse with global highscore lists.
Yes, but the Autobot theme might get a little bit explicit. Still... Promiscuous... How exactly do spaceships procreate? Drones? Probes? Probably gives new meaning to the technology Stellar Streams as well...
Personally I think attacking mines on asteroids is a waste of attack power: Conquer the nearby planet and they flip pretty quickly. On the other hand, rebuilding and improving asteroid bases take a lot of time.
There is a manual??? :D I'd say watch the tutorials, they're actually up to date for DL. Then have a look at the wiki, again, for DL most information should be there. And this forum probably is the most recent manual there is. And it's interactive as well!
I take one day off for cycling training... Good that the consensus seems to be that Silver runs round 10, everybody steps back a bit and relaxes and then we tackle the problem again. That's what I would have proposed anyway. ;)
Then, frankly, you're doing something wrong. I usually have much larger fleets, no treaties or trade routes at all, full planets, taxes hardly over 39%, full production and am still making a profit. Also, remember the game isn't about having the most money. It's about being the last one standing.
