There is sadly not enough big-name games up on Impulse yet. I'm sure Stardock is working hard getting all the contracts sorted out which would be no easy task. I hope they get the big names such as THQ, Activision-Blizzard and Ubisoft on-board soon.
Phazon88
The new textures implemented in the game are looking good. Same goes for some of the improved effects Its nice to see the game having its assets being brought up to an equal level of quality all throughout. That said, there is still some other models that could do with a texture touch-up and some effects which are still a little on the weak side. Will we be seeing some more improved textures and effects implemented as the beta continues?
The effects are better, but still missing some flare. I like the effects in Bailknight's Graphic Mod- I think Ironclad should have looked to this mod to see the full potential of the game engine.
A shame to hear it still isn't up to Bailknight's mod. I currently use it and love it, but I still want the effects in Sins could be so much more by default.
This beta is billed to go for about 1-2 months. Its barely even started Adama. Ironclad have done a little balancing, but I bet they will focus on that more once we know their new Alloy protocol works and have ironed out any game-breaking bugs.
I can see how they can utilise the RPG elements in ranked where the playing fields are even. You could simply just grant the player a limited amount of "points" to spend on powers, abilities, items and whatnot. Kind of like the create-a-hero system used in EA's Battle for Middle Earth 2 (except hopefully alot more balanced and exploit-free :P).
Yeah, prolly not going to read that but PC gaming is most definitely a great way to kill time.
Thanks for caring. :P
Hmmm.I find it... ironic that you're advocating PC games, yet your screenname "Phazon88" is the same name as a substance from the Metroid Prime games. As in made by Nintendo. I suspect it's just a coincidence, but it is an ironic one
Oh noes, I must be a console fanboy with a name like that!
I'm currently playing through Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl using the Oblivion Lost mod. Its one of the most atmospheric and genuinely scary FPS I've played. The fact that you can die easily if you're not careful just accentuates this.
Now I'm a 20 year old gamer of all kinds. I have had console and handheld systems over the years and I am priveldged to own some real gems in the gaming world that are masterpieces of their time. However there is one system that keeps me coming back, and there is one system that truely drives my love for computerised gaming. That system is the PC. The PC was one of my first introductions to the world of gaming (alongside the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES) way back in the year o
I know that they have an ethic that says it's better to miss deadlines that put out crap. Why are the only options available either putting out crap, or missing deadlines? It's too bad they don't have a work ethic that says work hard to meet deadlines they set for themselves without having to put out crap. I still consider this update to be a fix for major issues that have plagued this game from the start (and led to an anemic online following). Is six months how long it is supposed to tak
I keep hearing about orders that don't go through via Impulse. Have those problems been fixed?
Can't say I've heard that one before. I've made an order using the beta version of Impulse in the past and it never happened.
1. Dawn of War 2 (I love where they are taking it) 2. Demigod (could be in the number 1 spot but nobody knows much yet :P) 3. Starcraft II, Diablo III, Wrath of the Lich King 4. Operation Flashpoint 2 and Armed Assault 2 (both in direct competition with each other) 5. Whatever Ironclad's and Stardock's next game will be 6. Any game thoughtfully using the new Wiimote addon.
I say waiting for the 1.1 patch which helps with the issue of users who do not have the knowledge / ability to port foward is a better option. :)
A friend had a similar problem today. No idea what was causing it.
I think we may see something along the lines of a ladder / automatch when the common multiplayer platform gets finished in the near future. We know for certain that Demigod will have it (well at the very least it should) so I'm sure Sins will have something similar.
Ironclad Games is composed of 9 people, in total.
I knew Ironclad was small, but not this small. They certainly have some real talent in there. I bet they are growing now after the success of Sins though.
According to the 1.1 changelog:
-Major upgrade to the rendering and texture systems that allows the game to look even better on less powerful machines. -18 completely redone and touched up meshes. -Dozens completely redone and touched up mesh textures. -Lots of new explosion effects and textures. -A variety of minor 2d texture upgrades and/or replacements. -New ship shader with colorsample.a swapped with datasample.r (Team and specular have reversed posit
So in other words its Gal Civ II as we know it today, without the original Gal Civ II campaign? :)
Am I looking forward to DX11? Only if it has all the advantages of DX9 and DX10 without DX10's disadvantages (terrible performance). Very little games have made good use of DX10, and those that did the general consensus was that the average user experience was better off had in DX9.
It's a great card, I had it OC'd with the memory over 1GHz at one point.
Apparently one site got the HD4870 (uses more expensive, higher standard memory) memory clock to 4.4Ghz - and this was the max the offical ATI overclocking tool allowed it to go to. Theoretically it can go even faster.
I hope there is going to be more than just fighting within temples / parthenons. I get it if you're meant to fight in some sort of big arena created by the gods to see who wins however. I guess what I'm trying to say is what is being done to really differeniate the levels from one another? In both looks and gameplay. :)
Download Bailknight's mod. It fixes this exact complaint. Lets hope Ironclad can match his effort with 1.1. :D
It was a great looking game, with a refreshing setting. The open world and the ease in which you could navigate it was awesome. Apart from that the rest of the gameplay really left more to be desired. The missions were repetitive and the range of actions you could take in those missions was quite limited given the open world (compared to similar games such as Hitman: Blood Money). I have high hopes for a more fleshed out sequel with more engrossing gameplay. :)
I surely did, being a big fan of Call of Duty 2 and 4. I can only hope this will be for PC's as well, since Call of Duty 3 was never ported to PC. What a shame.
Speaking of which, I have not even heard word that it is coming to PC yet.
Welcome Klash! Hope you enjoy the forums here.
Thanks for dropping in! You never know, those peaceful/humanitarian options may very well make their way into a future game.
More expanded 4X elements (combined with more expanded RTS elements) within Sins can only be a good thing. :D
