And why should Ironclad listen? Because once I hosted a 4v4 , and it miraculously did turn out that way with teams on their own side and everyone was like w00t yessss this is gonna be good!!!! so its obviously something people want.
P5yy
They should have it so that in large random maps 4v4 , players on the same team will start together. I really hate it when 20 minutes into the game , someone leaves/quits because he got ganked due to a harsh starting position. Also ...sometimes the first asteroid is missing the phaselane to the homeworld. This is really harsh.
In this case , its usually not your fault but the person hosting is trying to host with blocked ports. Essentially everyone will get "disconnected from game server" when they try to join his game. Test join games that already have some people in them.
I dont think the resources is the reason why spam is a problem. I think its because as of the current balance , the unit spammed is undesirable. Forexample if I designed a RTS and messed up the balance, and it just so happens that Artillery units are overpowered. The game becomes a Spam of Artillery units. Thats just plain wrong and People will start to complain.
quiting, whining and general incompetance
Inherant in every multiplayer game. My suggestion. Build up an extensive friends list in ICO. Dont be exclusive with it either. Just add anyone who doesnt quit prematurely , who fights to the end , who are competant at the game , who can strike up a mature conversation in the lobby , who dont whine in the game etc. Circles are forming in Sins , so its best to find your circle.
Is everyone who wants going to be a beta tester? Is everyone going to be a beta tester? Is it going to split the mp community if its optional?A few things that I've been wondering about. I honestly can't wait to see the preview. Yum Yum
I think most people online will get the beta 1.1 so it wont split the community . Be daft not too lol
@ maheshjr2004 This is a discussion in the multiplayer forum and a "play to win" mentality considering we are addressing spam which is the product of a play to win mentality. Its all very well say you will make caps and stuff , or fighters but with current balance , anyone striving to become better at the game will unfortunately come across spam. @ Darthkar Ok atleast you get it. I agree Starcraft is the epitome of a skill factor game that offers players
In 1.1 Ironclad will fix Twin Empires Thats all I want !!!
I have this suspicion that people have this confusion that the minidump error is a single entity that can be fixed as a single entity thus making the game 100% minidump free. I got a funny solution..change the name :P "microdumps" Dear Ironclad , im so pissed off with your game right now. Im getting tons of these microdumps! I would leave this game if it wasnt for the fact you guys have atleast fixed those minidumps. :D
If I could have detected a single well-formed thought in the original post, I suppose I would have more to add....
I know what you mean. The OP is such a waaah waaah in his post , that its hard to really discuss it sensibly because I think it IS a topic worth discussing , just not with the OP. Ive said my 2 cents in a different thread that I made... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/313556
Ive been thinking alot about spam in RTS games , and having read darths waah waah post. Is it a problem , is it not a problem? Spam itself isnt a bad thing in Empire at War as for a long time (patches 1.0-1.5) it only had one unit worth making - the corvette . However the game made this unit so fun to use and raid with, that with one single unit the game had bags of variety. So this made me think of an analogy. Boxing In boxing - you cant ki
@phazon Lol my post about baseless assumptions was aimed at the Original Poster - ironclad not working hard etc . I actually remember I had the reply screen on for ages , because I was going to type a bigger post. You might have ninja'ed infront of me. tho yea lol , I guess I was a hypocrite
THe issue of multiplayer numbers still remains. This game just has horrible interface for online. An example of excellent online interface is GPGnet which gives supreme commander a very strong online community. I believe if Something like this for sins were made then almost everyone who owns this game would play online.
A gpg type thing? Nahhh I tell you what sort of interface would pwn - An IRC Interface. Then Anyone who owns sins and has an internet connection
It might be because you havent got Microsoft Framework 2.0?
People dont want a campaign. What they want is 2 hours of moooovieeee!! admit it , because im right.
Question to Ironclad. Do you still want 1.04 minidumps?
You make so many baseless assumptions
You just have to take sins multiplayer at face value. Its not really World of warccraft in terms of devoting your life to it. Tho sometimes I feel ive devoted too much time to Sins multiplayer.
Are they allowed to eat?
Its not fair that you guys restrict the game like this. Having maps which are literally 10k text files , should be used to their advantage. Games like Supreme Commander have 10mb maps but it has a better map delivery system then sins. There is no excuse for not allowing auto-share. You have the ingame ability to auto-share custom maps so its got nothing to do with technicallity. This is purely decision base , and I want to know what your reasons are.
About this dedicated server thing. This game called TA spring has Hosting bots which host the game for players. I wonder if sins could have 3 or 4 dedicated host bots , that could host the game for people.
I second this motion. People simply cannot be arsed to download maps. Ive tried ,but its hard to get people to do this especially for larger online games where everyone needs a copy. We also have a broken twinempires map , which ive said time and time again , needs fixing for a left v right setup , not a random setup
A thorough beta testing would have decreased the issues../snickerThey had the game in beta for over six months (closer to 9 I think) before release, how could they have gotten much more thorough than that?
Its a relative thing. Without those 9 months of beta testing , this game would have get desyncs every 5 seconds. Also just to clarify. Im not advocating not sending minidumps in. I just recognise the problem of sending minidumps in even if it does defy common s
p5; it isn't hard to find the file, zip it, and send it unless you're extremely lazy.
and...? Sending a minidump in, is effort. There is no instant gain. Spending 3 minutes doing this is just not worth it. The majority cannot be arsed. Its a complete lose-lose situation. People are pissed off because the game crashes and wont bother to send in dumps because it is effort, and stardock doesnt get dumps cant fix the problem. Stardock however are happy just t
