Steam is arguably (and I'd say there's probably not even much of an argument) the single best thing to happen to PC gaming in the last decade. Sure, it has flaws, but any number of games people rave about on this forum would not exist if not for Steam. How about this list: Legend of Grimrock, Warlock: MOTA, probably Portal, and thereby Portal 2, and Endless Space. All games that have generated a fair amount of discussion on this very board and every on

I play on hard. Tried two games on Challenging at .915 launch, but found myself prolonging the game unnecessarily just to explore endgame content. On hard I either steamroll or screw up and die relatively early 50% of the time and have a good challenging game 50% of the time. I planned on going up a level, but life got in the way and I haven't played recently.

So I bought the expansion from steam. So far for one play through i'm finding not much has changed. Just a new aspect for trying to race ahead other civs. The spying is very minor and doesn't require much attention. The new civs aren't all that interesting either.

A few technical observations on diplomacy: Establishing tribute prohibits you from going to war with the other nation. This is never discussed or talked about in any of the in-game text I've seen when establishing the tribute. You simply no longer have the ability to go to war once tribute is started. This is either a bug or should be made a more explicit portion of the tribute treaties. I have occasionally had an is

I think this is a terrible idea. First, what's the logic behind the idea that the road you're army is following suddenly stops working because you crossed from an area inside your glowing blue magic line into their glowing red magic line? In gameplay sense, what causes it? What's the immersion reasoning? Secondly, it has no real historic precedent. Roads and crossroads are generally some of the most strategically significant targets

Part of the problem determining what is useless and what isn't, especially for new players, is that the game does such a poor job letting you know which traits are gateway traits and what traits you are forgoing ever having a shot at by skipping a seemingly useless gateway trait. I get the feeling the devs are not looking to do any form of talent tree (which would alleviate this problem) but some sort of UI mechanism needs to be added to tell the player what traits are link

I am unable to kill this enemy hero. I go into battle, kill her, the battle ends, and then she's still alive with 1 hit point on the strategic map. I kill her again, get the xp again, and the process repeats. Here's a picture and a save. Here is the

Though, if I may, a word regarding the difficulty of the AI... currently a lot of people feel that challenging AI is still a bit too easy, while the hard AI is pretty tough. As a result, I think it would be wise to try to buff up challenging difficulty a bit, while lowering the bonus it gets on hard slightly. Ridiculous AI should be... well, ridiculou

Both are in the same battle on the first turn of battle after my unit has self cast Noble Legacy. The tooltip for my unit generated by mouse over of the initiative list portraits does not show the hit point benefits from Noble Legacy, however looking at my unit's detailed stats on the unit card, it shows that the Noble Legacy benefits have been applied. I'm not sure if the benefits aren't showing in battle tooltips because the battle is using unmodified stats, which me

So I'm unable to end my turn. I have an army of three heroes that are on route to a destination, along a road. They still have 1 movement point left and there is nothing blocking their path. If I try to change their destination, nothing happens. They are animated as if moving, but standing still. The army in question is in the picture below, as is their destination square. Giving them the guard command, did cancel their movement. <a href=
