Whenever I start up TA, I can never start a game. When I go to load a save game, the box that usually has a little icon in it is blacked out, and if I click on it, I crash to desktop. When I try to start a new game, I get to the factions screen, and all but one or two of the faction boxes are blacked out as well. The ship preview is filled with blocky white squares. This lasts for a couple of seconds, and then the game crashes to desktop without ever giving me an error message. Any i

Okay. I hope I live long enough to see how people respond to this... My favorite song is...Antonin Dvorak's symphony #7 movement IV: Allegro con Fuego *dives into flame shelter* I also like a lot of the classic as well as more avant-garde jazz. Basically, I like to listen to stuff I can play on my saxophone.
yeps you go to options then mods and any mods in your mods folder (realy complicated path... its in your documents and settings behind 2 hidden folders) will show up for selection
Where are these hidden folders exactly? Only marginally on topic, are those the same folders where our screenshots go? How does one make them unhidden?

I beta tested TA (it's awesome!), but I've also noticed that research is absurdly slow, and only gets slower for some reason, techs will for whatever reason double or triple how long it takes to research them. During the beta, late game I could get Duranthium I, II, and III in one turn, but now it takes almost a dozen turns for II and III each.
Sounds good...hopefully it can be done! (Nothing is impossible with human ingenuity!)
*sniff* that's just so beautiful...but unfortunately, if nothing were impossible with human ingenuity we'd have rotating turrets and tyranid ships. Though, not really knowing what the engine is and is not capable of doing (programming-wise), full steam ahead if it can be done!

We use their engine, their effects, their forums. They deserve a good deal of credit. EDIT: Your Imperial Highness (emperor somebody), I think those comparisons aren't all that accurate, I'm afraid. The Marza is no more like a battlebarge than it is like an Oberon. The Kol is more of a Retribution than an apocalypse (which is most similar in armament to the Illuminator frigate). Comparing a Lunar and a Cielo is also rather unfounded, as the Lunar is a general-purpose heavy combat cruise
Girls cant find the directions to the enemy base - they suck at rts!
You're wrong...they have an advantage because they WILL ask for directions. There's a girl in my history class who played Age of Empires, but apart from that I must agree. Aside from one Diablo 2 nut and someone with passing interest in half-life 2, the female gaming scene in my town is pretty much nonexistant.

Agreed, unfortunately. I for one forward my apologies. But the point stands, just adapt a little and you'll see the game's virtues more than its vices.

Here's my take on this...EVE is not a game that requires you to play nice. However, it does require you to ACT nice. Is that such a problem? You're free to exert your displeasure by wiping their noobish @$$es off the face of existance, but really, personal attacks accomplish little and solve nothing.

3rd edition! Oh man, I just had an attack of nostalgia. We're wonderfully on topic in this mod, aren't we? =P

Hive planets and forge worlds just have to look like coruscant. Simple as that. Death worlds can loko like terran worlds, as can agri worlds...though death worlds won't have ice caps and should have a little skull on their icon. Are there going to be Tomb Worlds?

Here's the thing. GalCiv 2, concerning the scope of the game, demands one thing of those that play it. If you refuse to abide by that simple demand, you should reconsider your choice in genre. That demand? Patience. Just give it time, learn to work around the bugs, and you should learn to let this game leech your life away as it has to so many other happy geeks.
he just gave us a feature list and you want MOOORE??
Well...are you saying you don't? Sorry, now that I have less homework I need something to do with my time. Thrawn, you should hear the plans a few guys and I had about a torpedo that, rather than being filled with explosives, is packed chock full of snotlings. "Hey, what the thr-GET IT OFF!! OH MY GOD, GET THESE THINGS OFF OF MEEEE...!!!"

"If the Planet-killer-killer [edit: that's what we should call the ship] should fire upon an enemy ship, roll a d6. On a 4,5, or 6, the recoil makes the ship do a barrel roll and it can't fire in the next turn." Anyway. I think an excellent way to get back on topic would be to demand a timetable from X, after that lovely featurelist he gave us in the last page. So, how 'bout it? Pwiddy pwease?

Behemoth was a pipsqueak compared to Kraken and Leviathan The 1/1000 statistic is...reasonable, but that's really more the ratio of mindless grub drones to legit BFG ship. And, there's probably a 1/100 ratio of cruisers to hive ships. That's ten thousand battleships. And, considering that Behemoth split up many times, not always massing to attack a system...you get the idea.

Yeah, how ARE there going to be ships that can't phase jump? (Or warpjump, or whatever...are there going to be chnages in game setup to orient things less around the gravity wells?)

Ooh, a lance platform? Will that imply the existance of Weapons platforms and Torpedo platforms, to add a little bit of strategy in what kind of defensive static munitions you place?
