One must take into account a few things. Hive Fleet Behemoth did not ONLY attack maccrage. They fought the Imperial Navy all the way to maccrage, in a war of attrition, where the imperium would abandon a planet, let behemoth land on it, and then commence an exterminatus. This allowed the Imperium to lose very few (almost no) ships and do massive damage to the Hive fleet. Finally, when the remains of Behemoth (starved of resources because of their inability to chow down on Imperial plane

Perhaps I should crack open the mod tools and try my hand at making some models. Make myself useful for a change :P When are they going to release the real versions, anyway? Seems like we've been waiting for some time now.
Hmm...I'm afraid I don't quite agree that Thermobaric weapons can be placed on the same level as Nuclear weapons, no more than napalm can. IMHO, A more appropriate question would be "Will thermobaric weapons replace nitroglycerine?", because that's really where their strategic use is most applicable.
heh, I love how now that we have a feature list promised we all go into low productivity mode.
yeah, I was wondering why they would skip from 23 to 25...perfect square number fetish, I guess.
Generic green beam thingies of death, of course! Can you say "Freem"?
Hmm...you know those wierd green lines that show up whenever something gets hit by Vasari charged missles? those would be pretty useful
Thanks, buddy, Oppenheimer just rolled over in his grave again. "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds..."
We should amend the title of this post...Battlefleet Gothic[no tyranids]. It would save us quite a bit of typing :p I'd be fine writing the descriptions, seriously. I'll feel lazy otherwise.
So, i havent played solar empire for a while, but want his mod, is it complete? I cant seem to find a website that has downloadable mods on it. Anyone have a website or know how to get this mod if it is done. thanks
HAH! I should be so lucky. But we should have it ready...I dunno. What do the programmers think?
N1ce! I can start writing full-on descriptions for all of those if you want. With necrons, we can experiment with the smaller ships mounting particle whips rather than lightning arcs, if only to add a little variety.
I'm a nurgle guy myself. All things must come to an end... X, that's WAY better than I dared hope. This mod should be on track in no time =) Great job!
-shakes finger- Nah, sorry, I'll get off your case.XD But really, the Imperial ships are more to my taste. Necrons too, maybe...easier to paint. Back on topic. I think we need to start with the organization with unit lists. This is a question to the programmers: what kind of ships can you guys do? Designated combat ships? Ships with special abilities? Or do you want me to make the lists and you guys see what you can do with it? Xthetenth, if I could be so bold
Think of it this way... In its original episodes, the Simpsons was only funny to those that lived through the Cold War. Since then, they have cnosistently succeeded at keeping their humor up with the times. As you said, until Matt Groening should kick the bucket, I see no reason why they wouldn't be able to continue doing just that.
Kiernyc, I thought you played Tau! Aun'va will not be happy with you.
Let me rephrase that, rather what could I add to it to make it look more like a temple? Besides making the Emperor's pointy stick a little more subtle.
Perhaps a few things that look like docking bays, adorned with chaos paraphenalia. You know, stuff to make it look more...habitable.
It's not the maintnence that's concerning me, it's how long research is taking! Anyone else noticed this?
Erm...let's just say that it should be done by the time the Gothic War actually happens.
But I can do any generic writing that needs to be done. Descriptions, flavor text, anything that doesn't involve asthetics or binary trees.
I'd love to help out, but I'm a below-average modeler, mediocre programmer and I suck door knobs at skinning. But I can cook!
Heheheh...I can't model, can't skin, and can't program...but I know the setting and play a mean saxophone. We're even!
Good ideas, but...I think that our priorities lie elsewhere. For example, getting running examples of ships in-engine out to those that are interested. Giving i nert's brilliant models some textures worthy of Games Workshop painting traditions. Deciding which and how many factions we want, and finalizing their fleet lists. Are we sure that we can even DO the kind of modifications necessary to make moving factories, etc? I think the official list of ships for I nert is a big one
Something akin to the Protoss Mothership from SC2?
Perhaps a more accurate analogy would be the motherships from Homeworld...massive, hulking things that pretty much are self-contained factories/planets/etc on their own.
did anyone think that this might get us in trouble with GW? i dont know constructive criticism?
Surely they wouldnt' object to a bunch of people throwing together a smattering of 3D models that just happened to look like their BFG ships... :) I don't think it's something we need to worry about, at least at this point.
Well...in the spirit of preserving the engine, would it work to just make them MUCh faster and MUCH more maneuverable than the other ships? Also, I'm kind of dubious about that article about Craftworlds. Was that in BFG mag as well, or is it a house rule? I suppose that much of the craftworlds are contained within the webway, so it could make sense.
Nice pdf...that's too good to be legal.:)
