Greetings Th3Myst, I'm back here from a weekend-away (I allowed my wife to drag me to the lake for a few days...hehe). We're talking no Internet (although I did sneak my shiny new Acer ONE........solitaire can get sooo boring! [e digicons] Welcome, and happy gaming! the Monk
Really - what is the reason for the banning???
This thread is just one example of why the OP got himself banned.
Scouts with baseball bats? sweet! (the animation of scouts "clubbing" on another would be worth it alone.....) [e digicons]:dur:[/e]
hey monk, just thought i'd update you on the good news. the 1.1 beta really helps with the networking issues. i havent had a problem hosting or joining games thus far except for the lack of people playing the game now, : ( meanwhile, your info was great! thank you.
pvster, Glad to hear it!...and as you can seen by [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319195"]this thread[/link] the "new netcode" in version 1.1 BETA effor
Absolutely. They do stack... here's a [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319611"]thread[/link] on the topic! thanks, the Monk
starkers, The "snap-crackle'n-pop" from the speakers is something that has reared it's head in some of the other games I've played over the years (thankfully not sins). One way I found of getting rid of it was to run DXDIAG and kept lowering the "3D Sound Acceleration" on the slider until the "snap-crackle-pop" went away. ;-) Certainly making sure your PC is well protected (from surges etc.) goes without saying... the Monk
Both of those bugs have been reported several times now... :)
Click "add player" and enter the name of the ONLINE PERSONA you wish to use. You will then find yourself in the LOBBY. :) have fun! the Monk
damn......and you caught me with a spelling mistake too, Kit! ;p **lamenting the no-edit button now...hehe**
Frogboy, I gave up coding in the 80/90's (too many grey hairs as it is... ;p ) but I'm hell-on-wheels when if comes to networking! :D Maybe you'll need someone like me someday, you know where to find me......hehe the Monk
The part that we're most challenged by at present is how quickly we can implement the Hamachi-like multiplayer system so that players who don't know what router ports are and such won't have to worry about them anymore.
You know I'll be hanging-around to help those that don't know. :D
No. Sins is pure P2P. In fact the HOST in SINS doesn't even "host" anything, he/she simply SYNCS all of the players together. Each player runs the ENTIRE SIMULATION locally. thanks, the Monk
I can make an account now but it still just says disconnnected when I try to log in... can anyone confim its my connection?
Only you can confirm if it's your connection. What is the data from the "trace" I suggested you do in my first reply?
I guess requests timing out is bad... but, I've been able to play an RPG with this slow connection, it was just alittle delayed to other people...
That's not going to fly for SINS
Have you tried clicking the blue ORB at the upper-left (in Impulse) and then under PREFERENCES >> CONNECTION check use "new download mechanism".
Why did you neglect to include your posts where I pointed out your blatant idiocy?
darkcurrent, Ummm...I linked the actual threads your drivel was quoted from. Never have any of your posts actually refuted anything I've said. None of my many postings to this forum are deserving of any of the verbal assault you've levied against them. Your behaviour belies (at least according to your profile) your age. the Monk
What? No response to how retarded your idea of how CPU and Connection speed differences causes the desyncing problems? idiot.
darkcurrent, Please read reply #6 in [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/318162"]this thread[/link] by kmiller1610 In particular pay attention to the last paragraph of his post. Maybe you'd like to insult him as well? the Monk
Please note: Game saves from previous game versions are not compatible with a newer game version.
It is necessary to follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" when you're on game version 1.05 (or less) and want to be able to HOST games. Those steps are not necessary if you've updated to version 1.1 BETA (v1.09) via IMPULSE. If you've disabled any software firewalls on your PC, or given SINS the proper "exceptions" then the fact that you're getting "disconnected from Ironclad Servers" most likely has to do with your connection, or a "hop" between you and Iron
please contact (although I do believe they are closed on weekends)
I clicked multiplayer/create game then logged onto my other computer and tried to see game.... nothing. Both systems are on lan, they can ping each other... nothing???????
if they can ping each other I can assume that: You're not running a software firewall on the PC's OR that you'll allowed ping through any firewall SO... if that's the case, then either you are running a firewall and although PING is allowed SINS
Perhaps this is because the Devs have let the game speed be limited by the slowest players processor and because at the start of an game not much is happening the game speed just goes through the roof.
That "burst-speed" start never used to happen (at least not to my knowledge) before v1.1 BETA. I have my own theories as to why that is (I believe the new netcode "Alloy" may have something to do with it).....which I have begun testing on my network. :)
There is another reference to this issue in [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319417"]this thread[/link] thanks, the Monk
Everyone in the game will need to have the MOD installed first.
I'm not sure if that can be done. If it can, you will need to contact to find out.
And monk your technical guide is awesome, couldn't believe someone would actually make a big guide on himself.(without being payed for it, I think )
:D Well then I guess it would surprise you even more if I said that this game isn't the first I've written guides for, I've actually done much more tech-support for other games. Glad to see you happy Falconpilot. Btw....your name wouldn't imply that you would enjoy playing Falcon 4.0 (the successor to
