Falconpilot, You are still able to host, even with the "IP not visible" message. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319195"]see here[/link] The IP not visible error is most likely due to most routers etc. blocking WAN-ping or IDENT by default. I've been too lazy to verify my theory though, so it's possible it might be due to something else. :) Either way, the error does not prevent hosting. thanks, the Monk
Insulting the OP ain't gonna help much either.
The OP (darkcurrent) deserves everything he has coming (and more in my opinion). The fact that he still hasn't been banned after his grossly inappropriate and absolutely baseless personal attacks on me as evidenced by quotes from his various posts over the past days: quoting darkcurrent from [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/321862"]WWW Link[/link]:
the_monk, do you
If the the quality of "volunteers" are equivalent to the help the_monk provides, then it's no wonder the game is still ****ed up.
darkcurrent, I don't really know how to respond to that. I've never had anyone be so ungracious about the effort and time I've invested in helping this community. If there is more I can do to help, I certainly don't know what that would be. the Monk

darkcurrent, There is more than enough help on these forums between the devs and many forum volunteers. There are guides for the multiplayer setup, and a multitude of troubleshooting threads which contain all of the information necessary in order to correct whatever other issues one may be experiencing. It just seems to me like you're not even interested in trying to understand/solve your issues. the Monk

Well I have tested SINS (especially beta 1.1) on one of my older notebooks with the following specs: (it runs well but I have to put most graphical options on low) Centrino 1.6GHz 2GB RAM 128MB ATI X300 Vista 32bit Is there any way you could beef up your RAM to 1GB? (I know you said "no upgrades" in your OP...but :))
I tried my second computer, and i got disconnected too when i login. So is there problems with my account somehow?
That would point to a "connection" issue between you and ICO not an account problem. Please try following the steps I posted above to troubleshoot for a connection issue. If you have difficulty following what I posted, let me know and I'll talk you through it step by step. thanks, the Monk
Sins of a Solar Empire is UNPLAYABLE as a multiplayer.
darkcurrent, Unplayable how? You can't host? Your game crashes? You're experiencing lag? It's quite difficult to provide support when there is no further information given. However, I will try anyway... If you're running game version 1.05: 1. Disable/uninstall all MODS while troubleshooting. 2. Please make sure your OS, and all device

darkcurrent, 1. To my knowledge there have been "several" different causes of desync identified through collaboration between the community and the devs. 2. I never said the new netcode (Alloy) was the cause of desync, I said with some of the beta-reports and my own testing it is conceivable that the new "tunneling" netcode may be making (one type of) game-desync worse. If you read my post above carefully, I stated that the BURST-SPEED start

Massive battles in the late-game will bring even most "gaming-rigs" to slideshow-like-presentation state. 1. Keep reducing your graphics settings until it doesn't lag (that much) anymore. -or- 2. Don't zoom-in during large battles in the late-game -or- 3. Don't play with so many AI players. Those are pretty much your options.... :) Of course, as Kitkun already suggested....make sure you're up-to-date.

I've posted the following to several threads now....something to try.
Sometimes uninstalling the video driver completely helps in clearing out "old" driver data. something to try: 1. go to "add/remove programs" and uninstall your video driver. 2. go to "device manager" and actually uninstall your video card. 3. reboot the machine, wait for it to "detect" your video card, then re-install the latest ATI drivers. Then reboot again. <

pardon me, I meant "tracert"....damn spelling error. ;-p the "netstat" command shows "active" connections, so unless you're in-game and connected to ICO it will not show ICO's IP. I did provide you with the ICO IP in my other reply though, so that step was just in order to verify the IP I already posted. :) thanks, the Monk

ZeR_IamNotAnoob, Your connection to your ISP might be fine, that doesn't mean there isn't a "bad hop" between your ISP and ICO somewhere along the line. Try running a "trace" from your IP to ICO the next time it happens: c:\tracrt xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx To make sure that is the correct IP: 1. Start the game 2. Logon to ICO online 3. Alt-tab, open the command-prompt an
Why can't they transfer the registration? Even THQ allows you to transfer registration keys if the game is bought used.
The original purchaser get's the patches etc. as "free support" when he/she registers. If Stardock were to allow a license transfer, that would mean a potential second-third-fourth-fifth etc. amount of "free support" provided by Stardock for one single sold copy of the game. This is the policy as I understand it. ;) the Monk

^^^ like crack much? ;-p HW 1 = best ever.....period. HW C = second by a slight margin HW 2 = looked nicer than HW1....but didn't improve anything else, and in fact broke some gameplay elements that made HW1 the "game of the year".
