chrisradio, Here's quoting myself from a [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/318341"]similar thread[/link].
Tankdogg26, Sometimes uninstalling the video driver completely helps in clearing out "old" driver data. something to try: 1. go to "add/remove programs" and uninstall your video driver. 2. go to "device manager" and actually uninstall your video card. 3. reboot the machine, wait for it to "detect"

I suggest you contact however it is not likely that they will be able to do anything for you. Stardock does not allow re-selling (re-registering used software) used software. If you really want to be able to own a registered copy of SINS you should return the used copy (get a refund from the seller) let the vendor know that Stardock does not allow the re-selling of used copies of their software and then buy a new un-used copy. thanks, the Mon
KayakNFly, That should be enough (maybe a replay if you've got it). Having said that, in a previous version the DEVS had a special "debug" .exe for testing SINS MP-desync, so I'm not sure how helpful that information will be. thanks, the Monk
8800GT's were known for having their trash factory gpu-fan set to run really slow (due to the noise-level at higher speeds). Because it's such a trashy fan on the 8800GT's you could manually set the fan on your video card to run at 100% all the time (I think you can use RivaTuner to do that....I haven't had RivaTuner installed in a while so I can't remember).
Ouch....I stand corrected. Thanks for the tip 5i1. Guess it's been a while since I played as the TEC. ;p
i cant seem to get it to work my bt home hub woant let me for sum reson.
Can't get what to work? Downloading and reading my guide? Installing the BETA for game version 1.1 via Impulse? If you want to run game version 1.05 then follow my link and download the guide under the GREEN writing. --or-- If you want to host without having to configure anything, then you'll have run game version 1.1 BETA (v1.09) via my instructions abo
Please download and follow my step-by-step guide "Networking and SINS" which can be found linked-to right under the GREEN writing in the OP of [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174313"]this thread[/link] Should you have any issues following the steps in the guide, I'll be glad to clarify. thanks, the Monk EDIT: You and your friend could install IMPULSE (www.impulsedriven.com) which is Stardock's new distribution system (and will b
Mr.Domino, The "default" display drivers are usually good enough to run one's OS, but when it comes to gaming......there are sometimes VAST differences betweeen driver revisions (in fact....sometimes you'll find older drivers giving you better performance). Of course, the first step should be making sure you've got the latest driver revision. :)
But one Marza Dreadnought will take out your ENTIRE mixed fleet with it's missile barrage.
 What are you smoking...hehe? Captial ships are almost (I said almost) useless in this game. They are not worth the resource cost and most of them are only slightly useful after their abilities have been upgraded.......with the exception of being a "bullet-magnet" so the rest of your fleet can do it's thing. Capital ships should be re-named "Bul
I don't often make capital ships because they can be "focus-fired" so easily by massed attacks. Pound-for-pound you're better off creating a mixed fleet of frigates and cruisers and never ever using Cap ships. (at least in the MP game... you'll be eaten alive if you rely on cap-ships.... ;p) the Monk
And I updated my Windows installer last week.
I'm not just talking about your "windows installer", I'm talking about your entire OS. Make sure it's up-to-date.
How up-to-date is your Windows installation? Try updating your OS, all of your device drivers and trying again.
That screenshot shows port forwarding by using "trigger-ports". You should be using port/port-range forwarding. Trigger-port forwarding means the router will wait for out-going communications on the specified "trigger" and will then allow incoming traffic on the specified ports. Depending on the router model and firmware this may or may not work for SINS. If your DSL modem/router can only use "trigger-port forwarding", then you may be better off installing IMPULSE (www.im
Yes, WoW is hosted on a server and Sins is hosted locally on each machine playing. But I'm wondering if it is possible for part of the program to allow a player back into the ring if disconnected. It would be very handy. Perhaps this is a feature of Alloy?
The functionality of "Alloy" lies in the fact that it is "tunneling" netcode which means it bypasses routers/firewalls instead of relying on user-control. Alloy is netcode, not server-state tracking software and a
As soon as you capture a planet click on it, and (if you have the resources available) click the "Develop Planet" icon and then the "Civilian Infrastructure" button (most larger planets have multiple stages available). The quicker you upgrade your planets "civilian infrastructure" the less credits you'll lose to "planet under-development". thanks, the Monk
But, that would be a strange reason as that would mean my GPU skyrockets in temperature in the space of 10-20 seconds.
Not strange at all..... CPU's and/or GPU's routinely undergo drastic temperature changes in a matter of seconds when placed under load, nevermind 10-20 seconds. ;)
Then why did it work for an hour before it broke?
5i1 I should have specified, my reply was directed at Funjifore.
With hardware like that, sounds to me like your video adapter doesn't have the proper pixel shader support required by SINS. Nothing you can do about that except not playing it on that system.
thanks to both for reply but nither working for me, i've already done the firewall one and the problem is that i cant Logon to ICO online so i cant trace that to there, so any other help would be nice thanks Highpristman
I gave you ICO's IP in my reply. Use it to trace to.
Also, If you'd like to install the BETA of version 1.1 (v1.09) you can test-drive the new optional netcode which doesn't require forwarding of any kind. You'll need to visit www.impulsedriven.com and download and install IMPULSE in order to get the BETA patch.
Dr_Waffles, again, there is a difference between simply "opening" ports, or (doing which is actually required) and forwarding (all traffic on certain) ports to a specified internal IP address (ie. your PC) Please follow the step-by-step guide linked-to right under the GREEN writin in the OP of [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174313"]this thread[/link] That guide has everything you need to know with regard to SINS-networking and what you'
highpristman, Your connection to your ISP might be fine, that doesn't mean there isn't a "bad hop" between your ISP and ICO somewhere along the line. Try running a "trace" from your IP to ICO the next time it happens: c:\tracrt xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx To make sure that is the correct IP: 1. Start the game 2. Logon to ICO online 3. Alt-tab, open the command-prompt and ty
Have you tried updating your video driver?
Jean, If you've made sure they're within the size-contraints and it's still balking, try uploading from one of the other sites (ie. WinCustomize etc.) Also, I found that setting the picture 1 pixel smaller than the forum limit gets past this sort of buggy behavior. ...some things to try. the Monk
What exactly is "lagging pretty bad" ? With the number of AI opponents and fleet-sizes SINS is capable of even the latest CPU's (and yours isn't exactly up-to-date) are feeling the "crunch" Based on your specs, I would try turning some graphical options down, playing with small fleet-sizes and not playing too many AI at the same time or your late-game will always be laggy. Also, when there are large fleet-battles taking place don't zoom in too closely... <br
