If you ever feel like getting your hosting woes worked-out (and you're not at a university :) ) contact me for my TS Server info. I'll be glad to help (please make sure you've downloaded a copy of my SINS-specific guide so that we can work through it together). thanks, the Monk

If you're willing to accept that the game is not "broken" just because it requires you to forward some ports etc. from your router, and you are willing to read/implement a guide I've written exactly for said purpose please download the following linked guide. Should you have issues implementing my instructions after you've read them, I am available to help with step-by-step instruction via my TS Server. @ Sykonaut No offense taken. Just curious, which of my guides did you read? The SINS-specific one (the one I wrote on Feb 14th/08) is pretty clear on your points 2 and 3. My guide(s) don't mention point 1 as it isn't usually an issue, even with DHCP unless there are a lot of constant changes to the network going on (people joining and leaving your local LAN causing your IP to change). I can certainly add information about point 1 to v 2.0 of my guide(s) if it becomes an is
You have to start the game >> click on Iron Clad Online >> then "create account" (and create an account) >> then "add player" (whatever you want your online name to be) >> then click on "use player" >> then click on "lobby" to chat to other players online. the Monk
I guess I could make a v2.0 of my SINS-specific guide with instructions (maybe even some screenshots) of the gui-based alternative to using the "command-prompt" for getting one's IP. Not that any amount of screenshots, hell even videos would not stop the people who are complaining from complaining. Most of the complaints I've seen have been in regards to HAVING to do anything (eg. port-forwarding etc.) to use SINS MP, not complaints about lack of instruction in knowing how to
The problem is, I wonder if I can use the solution of opening ports, I have been led to believe port forwarding is not a option for Dynamic IP's but my Dynamic IP doesnt change alot because its still broadband so I'm wondering?
You mean the WAN IP (Internet IP) that your Netgear WGT624 is receiving is dynamic? No problems there. My ISP also assigns me a dynamic internet IP. Where you can run into problems is, when your LAN IP (your PC's IP) is dynamic and assigned
@ Scaeres Saviger was having a different problem which has been resolved, see the following forum posting by him: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=406&aid=302493"]WWW Link[/link] In his case the SPI firewall on his router needed to be disabled to allow everything to function correctly. For you I would suggest to try running the game in "windowed" mode so that you can see any firewall/anti-malware pop-up window and respond to it.
I'm pretty sure that owning a system, and purchasing the game, does in fact grant you the "right" to play multiplayer games unless you're doing something that breaks the terms of agreement with the company.
I didn't say that. I said "For god's sake when are people going to realize simply owning a computer system doesn't give you the right (and in so many cases the knowledge) to use it with everything/anything out there without the need for further knowledge?!?"
Monk, Your a little beyatch you know that. You may be good at computers and all but just because people dont understand that CRAP you put down on the internet doesnt mean that they have no business playing multiplayer internet games. I read that garbage you wrote too, and dont understand a damn word either. All you wanna do is take credit for writing it. "you can check our MY guide" or "if you read MY guide" is all I see instead of helping people understand it. You and the folks at Stardo
You put too much thermal paste on and "insulated" the CPU.......there should be less than a pea-sized amount (I mean TINY) of thermal paste put on otherwise you're only making things worse. Again, further help should come from your local PC-shop or online tech support forums, as this doesn't relate at all to SINS. Hope you get things worked out, 77c is killing your CPU. the Monk
anyone got any suggestions as to what i should do? i cant finish my SoaSE game til its fixed
You shouldn't be doing anything untill that gets fixed. You'll have to remove your heatsink&fan from the CPU, clean all of the old thermal compound off of it with some isopropyl alcohol then clean your CPU fan, then re-apply a very small amount of thermal compound, put the heatsink&fan back on your CPU. That's the only thing you shoul
hehe....you're welcome.
Yeah that's right, I forgot about the IRC channel (I don't use IRC much...hehe) sorry.
Replies on these forums are damn near instantaneous as it is (that is when the OP's aren't rude and insulting) :D There are two TeamSpeak servers available to the community (Multi's and mine, although mine isn't up all the time) I don't see the point. the Monk
You must have had your caps-lock on. Caps-lock hides all your friends. :p
READ THE FORUMS!!! All you had to do was type "demo" in the search field and you would have had your answer. My goodness, how many times does the same information have to be posted??? Oh, and in case you didn't get my hint, LOSE THE CAPS!!!
@General_Failure :) I respectfully point out that you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about. Please read the following linked thread (particularly reply # 31) . :) [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=408&aid=301716"]WWW Link[/link] the Monk
When the host (the player who's computer is tasked with synchronizing everyone else's games) quits, the games being played on the other machines attempt to find another machine suitably configured (correct port-forwarding, etc.) "host" in order to continue the game. If a suitable host is found, the sync-data is migrated to said player. Since many people are still unwilling/unable (those at universities, dorms, etc. are actually unable) to follow my instructions/guide on settin
You update your game to version 1.02 Load game >> main menu >> update.
Games that are "in progress" are removed from the list of games.
No, you can re-install as many times as needed. You can however only have the game installed (being used) on two computer systems you own, and only in a local LAN environment (for MP-play) in order to stay within license compliance.
Like I said in my reply (#8) SOME people will be able to connect without making any changes at all (the people who aren't really behind "strict-NAT" to begin with), most others will need to make changes in order to play. @ Ironfuzz This game is peer-to-peer. The "host" only "snychronizes" all of the players, and does not actually HOST anything. The only reason you wouldn't have to make changes to your router (if you have one, and you don't have the needed p
Well, MP isn't just LAN. You can connect to other IPs too. ICO just shows you where they are.
Yes, but he/she would still require an additional license (a second copy) to be in compliance with the license agreement if doing anything other than using the second install on a LAN. :)
I heard each license is good for two installs. I could have heard wrong though, would be nice to get an official response.
For two installs on computers you own. In other words, if I wanted to play with my son on our LAN that would be ok. You cannot however have it installed on your computer in New York and expect to play online with you brother in Seattle. Get it? :) the Monk
my point is, the test is faulty. maybe bug isn't the "correct" word choice. But if the test thinks there is incorrect port forwarding on a router less setup then the test needs revising.
It's not saying that you have "incorrect port forwarding" it's simply implying that there may still be issues that may prevent most, some, or only few people from connecting to you. Most, Some, or Few is dependant on WHICH of the tests they are performing you are failing. I
