For clarification: What Ron said is for a true LAN game (ie. you can look at the other person). If you're using the LAN option as a "direct-IP" connection over the internet to another person you will still need to forward-ports, disable router firewalls, etc. ICO is actually just the "match-making" service and connects people with people. In other words, once certain people agree to play a game together all network traffic goes between only those players and not[

That's as simple as it gets dinantes for the SINS-specific guide I wrote (Networking and SINS) http://wwww.kiclan.com/monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf If you followed the guide, what are your answers to the following? 1. Your network map. I don't see it posted. 2. Makes/Models of your network device hardware. 3. etc. If you followed my guide step-by-step (reading each step carefully and not ski

As I've pointed out several times. Since SINS is of a P2P nature, all players (clients and host) should follow the instructions in my guide (Networking and SINS) in order to have the least amount of network-related issues. Once again, the host doesn't really "host" anything in SINS. The host simply "synchronizes" the simulations that are simultaneously being run on all clients. thanks, the Monk

You read the guide (Networking and SINS.....not the other one) and implemented all of the instructions? http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf Just so you know, if you're getting disconnected there IS something "getting in the way" in your network setup. Follow all of the instructions in my guide, I'm sure you'll find being able to stay connected to ICO, play and host game quite "helpful" indeed! :HOT: th

Never had even one crash over here. In fact I believe there are more people not crashing than are. Of course they're not on these forums stating that, so there will never be a real comparison. Let's examine this somewhat closer. I could post my system specs, but what real-world good would that do anyway? I mean my gaming systems have never had a virus (not even one bit of spyware). I only install games on my gaming machines. I use other computers (notebooks, other de

The link to this guide is already in the "Technical FAQ" however, here it is again: http://www.kiclan.com/monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf Keep in mind. Often when a person gets "disconnected from Server" it is the person "hosting" the game who has their network mis-configured, not you. thanks, the Monk
Yeah well.. this is rather ilrelevant. Most people run all high, or all medium.
Well as Sakhari already pointed out, for balancing purposes there needs to be a "standard". If as you say most people are playing on either "medium" or "high" and for argument's sake the game is being balanced for normal (which is where I personally think it should be balanced) then it's no wonder certain things feel off at other settings. That b
OK guys.... I click on "ironclad online"... I type in my user name and password... it accepts both and then shows me a blank window with a highlighted button saying "add player". That's it. Nothing else. Where's the list of servers? Where's the players looking for a game? How do I join a game? Is Xfire the only way to play a game of this? What am I missing? I've forwarded port 6112 to this IP address already, and turned off windows defender and my firewall... thanks,Bolas
<br/

That's exactly what I was suggesting. Having one on high, one medium, one slow. I think that would skew anyone's "balance". That's my point, it's the game-options that allow us to shift the "balance". Whether we are long or short-game gamers, the game-options (more than anything else) are what is balancing or un-balancing (depending on who you ask) the game. the Monk
heheh I felt the same when I found out - someone should make a peerguardian sticky
My guide does say "you may need to disable all other (besides the Windows Firewall) security/firewall software while playing SINS". :) I think peerguardian falls under "security/firewall software". People just need to read more....hehe
thanks monk will do! Im in england and my router is a BT homehub, so will that cause any difficulties when following your instructions? (so im being a bother btw)
My guide doesn't make any assumptions as to which make/model of router you have. Having said that, if you need clarification on anything within the guide, I have been talking people through my instructions via my TeamSpeak server. Just find me on xfire (the1monk) to set up an "appointment"...hehe <br/

@mp0295 1. 192.168.1.1 will not work for all routers. (my guide explains how one can make sure to get the correct IP for one's router regardless of make/model) 2. You don't mention what to do in the event of a "double-nat" scenario, which I've encountered several times with people since release-day. 3. What about security software/anti-malware software conflicting with/blocking sins? etc. etc.... Just pointing out that your websit

Mettra, you're wasting your breath. This guy has posted in other threads about his "love of multi-core". He just needs to let it drop. When a person has no idea what it really takes to truly code for multi-core, nothing you say will make the point. ...guess some people shouldn't have "bought" into all the cpu-marketing crap. There's something to be said for "experience of years lived" :)

Anyone having had to listen to you on ICO would have gotten a terrible impression of you... ..just my take. the Monk
