It has worked for you through Hamachi because as I've stated many times, Hamachi is a tunneling program which essentially employs NAT-T (Nat traversal) type connections to "tunnel-through/past" routers/firewalls which would normally "break" TCP P2P connections. As I've pointed out many times, if everyone (HOST & CLIENT(S)) configure their network setups according to the instructions in my guide (Networking and SINS) no one will have any issues this way either. I guess for som

I think until all MP-enabled games start shipping with the "WARNING: MP requires you to be a competitor, noobs and casual gamers will not be tolerated!" label you "kid" are out of line... :p
i continuosly get disconnected from ironclad online!!!
Wow, lots of information to go on there. :) Try following the guide (Networking and SINS) that is linked-to from the "Technical FAQ" in the "Technical" forum. Possible causes, based on the wealth of troubleshooting info your OP provides: 1. Your ISP is fitering for P2P (and since SINS is pure P2P) and is killing your connection. 2. Your ISP is generally flaky s

@ Limz! Please stop misreading my posts. I said "...the devs kept looking to the ultra-competitive element for suggestions about game balance, which screwed the game more (ladder or no ladder, I know many people who never looked/cared what the ladder said) than anything else..." I didn't say or imply that the act of competitive-gaming kills a game. I did imply that devs listening to the competitive-community over their own ideals for their

Yes the solution is you will need to forward ports (this game is true p2p). Please download and read my guide "Networking and SINS" (not the other one) which is linked-to from the bottom of the "Technical FAQ" stickied in the "Technical" forum. My guide contains all of the information necessary in order to set things up correctly. thanks, the Monk

I consider myself a chronic-gamer-helper, and a casual-gamer :) I have however never once in any game ever bitched about anything, other than people bitching! ;p In my experience, those "bitching players" are usually split 50/50. Half of them are "casual gamers" and the other half "competitive gamers". All I ever want is to play the game (any game) the way the devs envisioned it, period. Which is why I've said "... SD/IC to thine selves stay true...".
The Monk: WiC is merely an example of the devs being retarded. Their ladder system was stupid and therefore, team stacking was normal. But, whatever, I played on the losing team simply because it was funny/competitive/challenging. It really pains me, despite being such a great helper of the community your analysis on something so simple is off the mark by fathoms. You have not considered the flaws in the system itself. Again, refer to my post where I outline that compet
Doesn't Monk's guide say something about when you have ports being blocked by your ISP? You'll have to look around for it, I finally copy/pasted something else and lost it.
http://www.kiclan.com/monk/networking_and_sins_by_the_monk.pdf

Here's a little story by the Monk ;p World in Conflict: Oh! the Humanity! (An example of "the competitive scene ruining a great game") I played that game daily beginning with release-day (September 17th?), until sometime in late November. I had the very fist dedicated server up for WiC (mostly because no one else knew how to host..hehe  ) and happily hosted most nights, until the incessant patching began. Version history of Wi

@ ZJBDragon Uhh...I think you mis-read my post. I'm agreeing with you....lol When I said "listen to everyone's experience equally...." I was disagreeing with innociv (which I think you are doing as well) and then I went on to say "the devs should stay true to their ideals for the game..." :D .... same page methinks! the Monk

One problem people that are taking the sides of their comp-cases off should be aware of is: Most cases today are manufactured to allow for the best possible "air-flow" throughout the system. Taking the sides off of one's case often disrupts/negates the effects of the case-induced air-flow and can really "cook" things. For example. A client of our firm a few years back, had purchased a brand new Xeon-based Server with a 6-disk RAID-array. They kept the sides off of
Yeah need more balancing work. They should talk to the higher level players about it, not reactor to newbie whine threads. >_>
Personally, I believe great devs listen to everyone's experience equally and then balance that with their own ideals in order to keep the product exactly where it should be! Remember SD and IC are players of this game as well. In order for this game to not become another "game revised for this group......or th

Umm...good luck? :D You do know that depending on how a unit is used may sometimes influence the type of "counter" used against it? Also certain Cap-ship abilities completely change/augment the capabilities of smaller units and either increase or decrease their effectiveness as "counters" drastically. I'm just saying, save your breath and just play/enjoy the game more! :D the Monk

Call me ignorant, but why does all of this have to mean "goodbye game balance"? I'm sure IC's pre-patch stat-tracking would have shown that 2-3 times as many people were playing the Vasari/Advent as TEC before the patch. Might one reason for that have been because by the time a decent TEC-player (TEC who are supposed to be the econo-junkies) might be starting to make some decent trade-income just as his Vasari opponent reaches RA? There are more reas

You need to patch to game-version 1.03 (came out today) An aside for hosting only: Ports simply being "open" won't help (unlike UDP) with TCP peer-to-peer connections you need to be able to FORWARD all traffic incoming on two ports 6000 and 6112 to only your computer system. Obviously that isn't possible, and that is why most people at a university/dorm will not be able to HOST.

My 2 cents... When a game becomes a "classic" there is never any "going back"... The example in my life would be Homeworld. What a story, what a game (I get chills remembering... :) ) Then there came HW:Cataclysm which was a very nice addition to the story (because it never claimed to be the "sequel" to homeworld). Sadly, that is not where this story ends..... enter Homeworld 2. In my opinion there was/is nothing about Homeworld 2 that made it "better" than its predecessors
