Since the worldwide mean temperature hasn't materially changed since 2001 but, according to the animated video shown the ice camps are melting, that would indicate some other cause (everything from a slight change in the earth's tilt to warmer winters to who knows what.
Despite all his flaws and fallacies, there is one thing Al Gore got right...if the average temperature goes up at all , it is felt most by the poles

I have no idea why it does not say "Forbidden Worlds" underneath the version... Start a game on any of the standard maps...look at your homeworld, and look at the planetary improvements...if you can build social or industrial specialization (they'll be the options in the bottom right) then you definitely have the DLC working...if you can't actually build those specializations, then you don't have the DLC enabled... Sins doesn't really have a manual but someone

What you already looked for...you should see "Forbidden Worlds" in the bottom right... You could also see if you even have the planets...go to the Map Designer (under Singleplayer) and see if you can get a system to spawn with some of the new planet types...preview the system and see if they actually appear in game....
one more thing... I just noticed when I verified my cache, I got a "1 file failed to validate, will be reacquired". That was awhile ago, and I relaunched the game. Just now, I re-verified, and got the same message again! 1 file is not validating, but what is it?
Ignore this....it has been stated by the devs that you will always get at least one file to fail to be validated for Sins, so that is definitely not your problem... An SD employee will post an e
Balance mods are one of the easiest, and quickest, things to make.
I beg to differ...historically, the skilled community generally can agree on what the balance problems are, but can't agree on how to fix them... As an example, take the jumping Orkies problem...before v1.5, the community had all sorts of ideas for fixing it...some wanted jumping Orkies to require fleet supply, some wanted them to require upgrade

Diplomacy missions, for whatever reason, have gone to shit...the AI just isn't nearly as willing to offer them anymore, especially beyond the early-mid game...you are not alone in that experience... We've had replay threads in the past, but focus has always been on player mistakes and strategy....discussions on AI behavior have not been nearly as involved... There are 2 reasons for this...one is that most people that just play against the AI are not very skill

Assert @ C:\Projects\P4\SinsRebellion\Release\CodeSource\Engine/Render/Mesh/Mesh.cpp(275) !isLoaded || g_Game.debugMenu->hotloadTextures Harmless error I think...got it when removing a texture from a mesh while the game was running....

All of that pales in comparison to the ability to change the location...a lot of very cool makes and scenarios could be made if map makers could place the occupation planet where they want to...but you can't do it... At least if the occupation planet was in a "normal" star system, the AI might actually attack you when you control it....

It was, I was wrong and changed the OP...I misremembered discussions about the issue back in the beta...we wanted it to be setup so that it could be in any star (for some reason I thought it used to be that way and then was changed...devs did actually listen to us and get rid of the extra star when the victory condition wasn't enabled).... But it doesn't change the matter at hand, which is that the victory mode is not very fun...the AI doesn't rush the occupation

Seleuceia's a dumb dumb... I'd like to reiterate that...that and my hallucinations.... So, anyway...can this game mode be made more viable? Is it at all remotely possible to get this setup so that map makers can place the occupation planet where they want to?
I remember the occupation Star never went away even when occupation victory was off! Now that was painful.
Yeah that was annoying...
Wait... why do I not remember this? Didn't I preorder Rebellion right away...
Maybe I've been off my meds too long, but I believe it was like this in the beta...

So, my question is can anything (or should anything) be done to fix this? Can this game mode be made to be more popular and more viable? I think the core of the issue is that map makers have no control over where the planet is....it doesn't help that the AI has no grasp of this victory mode...

UK is not in Europe...they use the pound, don't you know? I've seen conflicting data on the issue...some sources say UK has more (per area), others say The Netherlands...but UK definitely has more if you ignore area.... Apparently Bangladesh has several, and they are pretty deadly...I imagine mainly because of the population density, though maybe they just have really really bad tornadoes...

Well...apparently my paging file size was around 1 GB...that just doesn't seem right, I seriously doubt that's the default yet I have no idea why it would have changed on its own...set it to 4GBs now where it should be....
But do you think people really judged Rebellion by multiplayer? I haven't played SotS2 but it seems the worse you could say for Rebellion was that one specific feature needed a lot more work but was entirely playable, and the rest of Rebellion was also pretty good.
Reviewers of the game certainly did not...I think it is fair to say most players also wouldn't have cared about ICO functionality...hard to say though with certa

I won't speak for Paradox as a whole or other games they've published, just putting perspective on the issue.... I don't think Rebellion was as bad as Sword of the Stars 2...but Rebellion MP was unplayable for several months, and when the game finally did become stable, we still had to put up with grotesque balance issues that made some factions and several features often banned...Rebellion is fine now, especially with the v1.5 update, but so is SotS 2 ...
BTW, how does it work without HDD? Is the HDD there just to cut the loading times from the disc, but otherwise non-essential? How many data fits into those 12 gigs of memory? Will it somehow limit me in number of games i can play?
Generally speaking, putting the game on the HDD was just for "convenience"...the game ran from the HDD and thus was quieter since you didn't have a spinning disk...I would argue that specifically for t
