The simple solution is to edit your race in notepad. Instead of changing the number on the lower line use the "hardcoded" number between the 0 . Exp: 0 10 This will give you a 10% bonus, BUT at a cost of ability points. This occurs 'in the game' when you add on to your abilities in the race creation window. 20</E

KzintiPatriarch is right, concentrate your research on one or two planets. Naturally the ones with any research bonus on them. This leaves the rest of your planets to build social or military units. I always try to get a factory up and running ASAP so you can build/upgrade faster later on.
It probably gets put in the research que right after the current project finishes. I have had this event a couple of times and just watched as the AI gets weaker until then. I just give them the tech if trading is on and let the game go on. Otherwise they will never colonize or fill a troop transport with the population they have left. Their tax base takes a beating too!!!
If they are left alone for the rest of the game, they will get powerful. It will happen over a long time, but still! I'm going to take a guess at ICTG I ntergalatic C ouncil for T ouring the G alaxy! [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]
Delete all files from the installation and"My Games" folder and re-install it. The game will use existing file instead of the new ones. When you play with the editors, BEFORE you do anything . Make sure you have copies of the files you are about to alter. It's way easier to replace a file or two then to uninstall and then delete the remaining files from your computer and reinstall the game.
The ICTG will get an incremental increase in all their abilities over time. Just think of it like an "anomially a turn" that gives a +1 bonus to all catagories. Over time they will exceed your abilities. To play off this, just keep them small and covertly help anyone at war with them. Get them to go to war with other races OR just wipe them off the face of the map!!! [e digicons]B)[/e]
Use the mod folders OR create one in the mod dir.
What do you mean by "custom tech trees?" Have you created your own tech tree? If so, that may be the problem.
You probably saved it to the wrong folder. You'll have to move it/save it to the main directory of GC2 into the Drive: GalCiv2/Twilight/data/custom maps/ (map name here) folder.
You will have to change your target launch to Drive :\GalCiv2\Twilight\ TALaunch.exe (OR to the folder you installed GC2 to) as the editors are only available through this startup. The regular launcher will not get you to the editors.
Copy the ship files into the twilight folder in the my games folder from your main directory . You will have to touch them up as the conversion to ToA will not be smooth. Parts will be out of place or missing, but the basic hull of the ship will be there!!!
Just pointing out an optional use for large population planets beside the bc factor. As Greatergood34 pointed out, those planets are very hard to capture! Of course if that planet is under assault, you need to re-think your strategy on where to place your defending fleets! ;)
Unless you use random AI races, you can edit the "Appearence" of all the races before you start the game by using the "EDIT" button on the race selection window. Once you finish doing this, the game will automatically save the the race file to "My Game" directory and will use that as the default for that race. The minor race colors will be the only unknown factor.
Yes, but you can build two 6000 troop transports for invasions to gain even MORE bc!!!
Here's a good way to play off the pirates and use the pirates to your advantage. https://forums.galciv2.com/321552 HydroAC and myself have come across this event many times and his strategy is one to use against them. My event happen toward the games end and the pirates were just gross. They are listed in the TA 'random events are not so random' thread.
Anyways, aren't hotsprings of the Torian better than VRCs?
Except the Terrans don't get those. You were specifically talking about the terrans. I'm sorry that I didn't specify the VRC's for the terran. The hotsprings are less maint. with a 20% morale boost. VRC are 40% morale boost with 7 maint vs 3 maint. on the HS. After 20b the amount of VRC's goes up AND you will need a low tax rate. I had a PQ 24 planet in one game. I thought I'd try maxing out the populatio
Nice find Cruelsader! Also, AI's with "Warrior" special abilities will build ships with attack weapons only for the fact that they get to 'fire first' and whatever is left can fire back. At least that's what I've seen so far...
You can only have 5 mining bases, anything over that will not count.
I always vote to ban them in the UP. That seems to make for a better game.
Well done! :CONGRAT: My event happened at the end of the military tech tree so the pirates were way over anything I could have built. BUT a game of attrition would have worn them down. I was too close to the end of the game for that, and just ended it! I have other AI Races to test and need to keep moving.
Virtual Reality Centers and low taxes are the best way to get morale up. You will need about 3-4 VRC's for every 15b population depending on other modifiers. It's a good idea to have one planet as your transport builder and population center.
That's true Galefury, but DasHeretic was looking for the old hull styles that came on DL and DA. Those ships are no longer in the templates.
Some more ideas. Tiny - Corvette (Cor), Interceptor (Int) and Frigate (FF) Small - Escort (Es), Destroyer (DD) Medium - Light Cruiser (CL), Cruiser (CA) Large - Battle Cruiser (BC), Battleship (BB) Huge - Dreadnaught (DN), Juggernaut ( BMF  when you get to this size, you can call it whatever you want  )
There are a lot of people out there looking for that. It is rumored that the 2.0 release will contain the manual on all the editors.
They are useless, except if you want to scorch and burn systems, BUT you can do that by destroying the colony when you capture the planet which will turn it into a PQ0!
