You have to replace the default ships with the ones you want to use. The map editor will only use the ship style to replace the default ones. You will have to keep the ship file name and any advanced tech will not go on them. The original "twilight" directory contains the default ships. Your ships are located in the "my games' directory. There is nothing but maps in the map folders. You can also do this by setting up a mod folder, but I don't mess with mods, sooooooooo maybe so

Ships can be added on a map by putting their files into the default ship folder. Depending on what game, you will have to find the "???\Data\ShipCfg" folder and add them there. you might also have to add the template to that folder.

Could you give exact settings you are using? Sure, have you tried, just making a map from scratch, with the editor? You know, map size : Immense player race : Custom opponents : Nine with Eight Minors options : Mixed between rare and abundant etc.: NO MODS USED. Disable the mod folder . Some mods will add corrupt data (won't work in t

If you use the "cheat generated map" you cannot do anything once the game starts. The map and starting locations are all the the map editor will allow. Any built ships or movement will corrupt the map file and the editor will not work. You must generate the map and once the game starts, name it and save it, and then QUIT the game. The map should load into the map editor. It works for me, so if you can't get it to work, you might want to try reinstalling the game.

There are no settings for controling the amount of planets the game generates. You can start a game, generate a map and then save it. Now you can go into the editor and edit the map that the game generated. That is the only way that I know of to get a map generated other than the randomizer in the editor...

You have to create a launch to DRIVE:\GalCiv2\Twilight\TALaunch.exe The default from the startup menu is DRIVE:\GalCiv2\Twilight\GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe Either edit or create a link to the TALaunch.exe. Then choose the editors menu and then map editor. It's a no brainer for use. Just go through the menu and play with everything. You don't have to save anything! Just be careful when you edit any of your maps with wholesale changes. Always save the map in i
I started the TA editor. Apparently it has no facility for putting in stars automatically. Kinda pathetic. You have to do them one by one? I tried to put one star in and it took up the whole screen. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Under the edit menu there is a generator for stars, planets and a few others. It will do a nice job of getting you started in your map. If your star took up the whole screen you need to zoom out! You can pitch and roll the map in

The number of races in the game may have an effect on the number of planet too! How many races did you set the game up for? Don't forget about minor races also, as they have an effect on the map generation. Personally, I haven't noticed any decline in planets and if you'd like more planets, you can always use the map editor to add some.
now if someone can tell me how I can make a map to include dreadlords without the dreadlords overwhelming us in the early-mid game that would be suh-weet.
Create a map, give the dreadlords a PQ2 planet to start on. Anything bigger will make them stronger, faster!

I base the amount of transports (troop pods) in orbit from the population of the planet. Like I mentioned before, the transport in orbit formula works great against the JK, IF you actually need to go after them. It will take the JK a few turns to start pumping out derfensive ships so on the turn they show up, I take my worlds back...

"Save and Save Often" is my strategy for the JK. Just revert to the previous save! The event usually accompanies a "Peaceful" Galaxy, or lack of wars. If you are the top expander (most planets) in the game, you will stand the most to lose as the event will take at least one-third of your planets. If it happens early in the game it's worth playing it out. Late game can be very hard to recover from as secured resources may now be vunerable. I always start filling troop pods (my des

You may be lacking in one value or another. Like military power or one of the others! Check the relationship screen and note where your minuses (--) are with each race and where your positives (++) are. If it's pretty even in pluses and minuses, then it will take a long time to get "close." Try giving a ship or planet (low PQ) to the AI.

Which minor race was it? [e digicons]:maybe:[/e] I know that the Snathi and Dark Yor are very aggressive and will declare war on the AI races. It must have been a "Later Game" minor like the ones that show up on an even

Education on gun usage and saftey is the key issue. As Kryo mentioned "Sadly, responsibility is something sorely lacking in modern society." We learned a few thing from prohibition, ban it and someone else will supply it. Better to have some form of control than no control. US politicians just love to take the easy way out. Passing laws that are unenforcable, impractical and some just plain stupid. Can't see them getting us out of this mess either. They still haven

I've had them in my starting system once. I've had two of them sharing one system a couple of times. Even if the map is big or huge, if there are not enough systems, those are the results that are possible. After all, their location is random...
