All I'm saying is three things. Shield 1 first. Then Penitence or whatever you want. And Oak loves me the most. And you're right. You shouldn't be getting into stupid fights before level 2. That's why you don't need Penitence. If you're focused on gettings kills then you are completely missing something about this game. As as for rankings, given the time and same people, anyone can get super high ranked. I've done it, dozens other have too.
