I don't remember which patch it was but when the game was released asteroids were random in nature. So they weren't tied in to the planet. Unless I'm imagining this! Then there was a patch which fixed the number of asteroids and coupled resources to planet type. Then a bit of reversion to alter the number of asteroids but still coupled to the planet type. Before all this asteroids were really random I am sure. Different planets might have different resources. I'd like that random option

Patiently patiently been updating and reading recent patch notes and beta notes and no, no sign that asteroids will ever get their randomy goodness back! Ok seriously! Why were they changed to begin with? I don't recall seeing threads about this aspect of the game or suggestions asking for it so it was stealthily sneaked in a few patches back. Then just a small change back but still no return to randomness. All I'm asking for is an OPTION to have random asteroids back. Just. One. Littl
This is not an MMORPG. This is a strategy game. There is a HUGE difference.
Actually no there isn't. The same principle applies to most games and game types and in real life too. Pandering to the "best" players - who really are the best, or just like to think they are - means just that. Pandering to the minority. "Pro" gaming is an even tinier minority... You could, for example, pander to the whims of the the self professed baseball fanatic hardcore player who th

Yes that's a very good point about the single player portion and those who play LAN or with only a friend or so. Unfortunately there is no way to know what proportion of the playerbase play like that. After all it those who mostly like it in single player mode are probably even less likely to be posting on the forum, but they might still be downloading patches and updates. Who knows how the complaints of a few hardcore PvP'ers might be affecting them... and you're right, they probably do get the

Because the l33t minority obviously know more than the majority when it comes to multiplayer. They should be the ones listened to, unlike the majority who might just be happy with how things are? Riiight. Listen, if the majority are happy with something the minority should not be pandered to at the expense of the majority. Regardless if it's single player or multiplayer. In fact I bet the ones who are always talking about numbers and values are the minority of online gamers. The majority don't c

Well now you've lost me. Random means balanced and 1:1? Ehm no I would imagine random means just that. Random. You never know what you might get (or not get!) and thus more interesting than a static playing field where you know exactly what is where and how much. What fun is a roll of the dice if you know it's always going to come up a particular number? Maybe it might be fun for a while but surely not all the time? I do find it curious the devs have remained quiet about this particular change a

Just seems rather unusual and non-regular practice reallly. Isn't that what Stardock.com is for as an umbrella site? This particular announcement is ok since it does actually add something to Sins of a Solar Empire but, for example, The Political Machine really had nothing to do with Sins of a Solar Empire. It's like going to TheAllAboutFordCarsWebsite.com and they have news articles about bananas mixed in with their articles about Ford cars... well, it is Stardock's perogative, just an unusual

I wish Stardock would keep news items not related to Sins of a Solar Empire off sinsofasolarempire.com - when I first read that "epic" announcement it was a serious anticlimax. Won't even say about that Political Machine item from earlier. At least this time it has something that does affects this particular game so it's not all bad.

Fixed resource asteroids is going to remain? It looked to me like quite a few wanted the random ones back... Plus is it too late to ask for a option to choose where to store savegames and recordings? Have the default path as hidden folder local settings whatsit if it's to keep Microsoft happy but allow us to edit to somewhere more user friendly?

I'm sorry I didn't notice that guy pointing a gun at your head and making you read the threads you don't like. At least people who complain about something usually do so because there is something they would maybe like changed or improved for the better - in their opinion. If nobody ever complained about anything nothing would ever get improved on and we would all still be living in caves. Agree or disagree with complaints but to moan about them being there to begin with? Well

Yes only the first page per section is visible and no way to navigate to page 2 or 3 or others? I'm using IE 6 with service pack 2 if it makes any difference but it shouldn't because I've not changed my settings at all! --- Oops sorry for double post. I got a lot of lag and some funny page with "500" in the corner and it gave me the option to go back!

Well it's really irrelevent what happened but it would be nice to have a game mode to allow players to fight to the last few ships. Last Ship Standing perhaps? It would have to be a game mode and toggle because it could lead to griefing and run arounds if used on open games. It would be more for when you play with people you know so if it is a good match the ally can stay and still be involved some more.

Add a toggle option so that a player can continue playing so long as he has a minimum number of ships remaining, if he has an ally. What happens if someone has a big fleet but they lose their planets? Game over for him. He can't move his fleet anymore and can't stay to help his allies who might still have planets!

So I figured in some games if you are allies with someone you can give them not just resources but also ships and structures. How about something like that for Sins? I propose breaking it down like so - Give resources, like now - Give selected ship or ships - Give sellected factory or factories - Give planet and all factories around that planet - Give planet only That would allow for the fine tuning of what is shared. Once again I will suggest make this an O

Bring back random resources. Even better would be random resources with the OPTION to have fixed resources. Seriously, I suggested this in the last official thread of suggestions before 1.03 - whenever possible please add SWITCHES so things can be toggled on and off. You will keep most people happy this way as they can tune their match to their heart's content. Make AI react when it gets attacked on the way to its target! It turns into a turkey shoot if you intercept an en

Just ignore the ones who can't reply with anything better than trolling responses. My advice, and I say this most sincerely. Do not trust game reviews. Good or bad, many of them only play a game a very short period of time, often go along with a bandwagon and can too often let themselves be swayed by gimmicks and eyecandy. Where possible try to obtain a demo version or find out from friends and people you know who own a game what they think of it. If possible see if you can play before

Yeah calling people noobs, idiots, numbskulls and whatever else insults and derogatory comments is REALLY going to make it more likely for you to be listened to. Try behaving like that in any company meeting and you'd be kicked out faster than you can open and shut your mouth.

I think the devs would be wise not to pander to the minority of self-confessed hardcore competitive types. Especially ones who like to spam "n00b" around. Do what you feel is right that would benefit the majority and don't make the mistake some other companies made (which cost them the bulk of their players and the franchises in some cases)
