Sareth, if you want the ability to go from grav well to grav well without using normal phase lanes - play the Vasari. That's one of their primary advantages/distinctions. Also... 100% mitigation is basically invulnerability, think about it. Also, super weapons don't affect fleets (other than mitigation bonus granted by Advent cannon). A "Super Tank Fleet" is not balanced. Also, cost balances little once you have a decent infrastructure. Really, your entire post is simultaneous

How odd. I've never encountered this w/ Vasari, what race were you playing? Had you used any of the colonizing cap ship's special abilities to colonize? (Akkan, Jarassul, Mothership)

I want an Urquan Dreadnaught. ... Just kidding. Honestly, I think Lead Head's (which isotope bro?) idea about the other races getting 'scout cap ships' and Vasari getting a true 'support cap ship' sounds the most likely. Although I'm resistant to the idea until they get the Marauder "right". It's still got a useless ability dragging it down. Subversion needs moar epik. Whatever they do, I hope that each race&#39

Interesting interview... but what's this about Impulse being bought out by Gamestop? Will Rebellion still be SD/IC collaboration? Is Impulse going to be another one of those damned programs you have to run while playing the game like steam? Because if it's making that switch and I have to start leaving the program on just to play Rebellion (single-player), there's a good chance SD and IC will never see a penny of my money again. I could care less about leagues and leader-boards...

In Wing Commander I and II, Corvettes were small, fast ships that operated as something akin to a super-heavy bomber. They Were as fast as the bombers, but packed more firepower, and were excellent at anti-bomber , anti-freighter (trade ships), and anti-light-cruiser (Support/ LRM , anyone?) - and they were vulnerable to heavy cruisers, cap-ships, and fighter-craft. Frequently deployed in pairs or trios. Which sounds sort of like a light

Being the target of almost all of the pirate bidding has been a problem since Diplomacy launched, really. With the announcement of "Rebellion" I have the feeling this patch is going to be the last gasp for Diplomacy... don't expect a miracle. I wonder if they will bother carrying over the Diplomacy/Entrenchment changes into Rebellion? If so, maybe they will just tweak things then.

The game vs AI would be a LOT more interesting if the AI actually

"Also that flak get a hefty nerf vs fighters, since those things counter both bombers and lrf, and tend to just kind of vaporize currently." - Kitkun Agreed. [quote who="Darvin3" reply="451" id="2895466"]A general buff to fighters would be nice, but we also need to look at the hanger and carrier cruiser. These are completely non-viable in the early-game due to how easily they're destroyed and run out of antimatter, which is why we see pretty much exclusively carrier cap

The only problem with that is, AJ , that betas are mostly the result of the devs and some very dedicated gamers, and if those gamers generally approve of an over-reacted change, sometimes it can take a damned long time to get rid of it even if the general population hates it, because let's face it: Devs care more about their loyal testing crew than the general consumer (which is only natural). So basically... even going too overboard in a (public) beta can be disastrous.

All factions in a game should be equally viable in all stages of a game (early, mid, and late). It is lunacy to make a game where one faction must win by a certain stage because the other factions will beat them at a later (or earlier) stage. That

It's been my experience that a well prepared Advent fleet versus a well prepared Vasari fleet comes out to being the ultimate grudge match, and the victory (to whatever side) will be Pyrrhic at best. To me, that screams balance. Leave phase missiles alone, messing with them will only screw up even larger portions of the game. If you feel something must be nerfed... reduce the survivability of (all) bombers. As others have said, either by buffing fighters or buffing flak vs bombers - o

Envoy/Pact System: I'm not partial to having to waste 72-96 supply on a single "ally" to be able to use the pact system. Furthermore, I don't like the pacts... some of them are lame and some of them are OP (I'm lookin' at you, Supply Pact - cuz yer ridiculous), there's no good reason to make certain pacts so ridiculously good. However, because many of them are that good - you're somewhat forced into using them. Revamped Pirates: Revamped? You're jokin

Take some "inspiration" from MOO3's diplomatic system and things would be sitting pretty. And even Total War's system is more flexible than Diplomacy's :-\

Aside from destroying diplomatic cruisers, is there a way to sabotage relations between two AI empires? If so, what is it? It's entirely possible that I'm just not seeing it, but I can't seem to think of any way to do it. Even giving missions doesn't seem to do it... the lil bastards simply will not betray their allies (other than me)... and yes, in a FFA game. Even when the reward is ridiculous (with all three resources in the range of thousands), it seems like they just will not attack them

Stant123, if your Novalith usage isn't hurting the enemy - you're doing it wrong, choose better targets, not to mention choose ADDITIONAL targets. Also the Deliverance Engine is more useful than you give it credit for, it takes quite a few capships and/or culture centers to counter it, and you can use multiple engines to make it nastier. You can flip planets like flap jacks when you do it right, and seriously reduce income on the ones that don't. Vasari have smaller fleets and worse e
