So... any word on this? Is there still pirate balancing in the works? For that matter is there even still work ongoing on Diplomacy at all? What direction is this game going at this point? Has it reached it's conclusion and now onto the next? Or what?

I dunno man, when I don't bring overseers my ships die pretty fast, unless I have like three Skirantras. I've seen 6 Overseers bring an Orkulus back from the brink of death in seconds.

At least Impulse is fire and forget. Buy it, install it, turn it the hell off... no mess, no hassle, no arcane formula to go into offline mode. Frankly I'd prefer not to even use Impulse, but at least I can stomach it. I mean wtf am I supposed to do if I randomly lose my internet connection and I want to play a STEAM supported game? It's insane! As for Empire? Yeah, I tried my brother's copy on his machine... I wasn't that impressed anyway... besides, the bastards cut out Portugal - s

I'd be playing Empire: Total War right now if it weren't for STEAM. Same thing goes for Dawn of War 2. I own every Total War/Dawn of War game, and every expansion. But I refuse to purchase Empire: Total War/Dawn of War 2, because of STEAM. I resent being forced to install third party intrusive software that does nothing but track me like I'm some sort of sexual predator and stink up my computer. I should not be forced to log into a system on the internet to play a SINGLE PLAYER game.<

Tiberius : They are anti-structure, and they do well at taking out orbital structures. Starbases still take about 20 minutes to kill with an Orkulus though (presuming both are highly upgraded: good repair rates + good armor greatly nullify the SB's disintegrators). Coming in with enough normal anti-SB units (non-Vas), or just using a Vasari fleet tooled for the job takes about 2-5 minutes. Also, the shields do help - but not enough to warrant the points - and only situationall

Yeah but what difficulty are you guys playing at? I normally play against Hard , occaisionally with an Unfair thrown in for giggles. I played SINS for three hours yesterday, fought several level 6-8 cap ships, and still haven't seen them use one ultimate :-(. Have you seen Starbases use their abilities yet? I still haven't seen an Advent SB use meteor swarm, or for that matter the disorient ability - or anything else!

I'm all for that racial slot thing, TheEvidence. The Orkulus would get a little screwed though... the Phase Stabilizer node is pretty damned useless. 1) The baby Orkulus is so vulnerable while it's under construction (even with the upgrade to speed) that it's chances of survival without a fleet are pretty much nil. Therefore, you don't need it to serve as a stabilizer in enemy space because your fleet will 99% likely already be there (in which case you probably don't even need

Geez, that's a retardedly high advantage, lol. Personally I hate cheating AI's, I'd rather AI's just get smarter. What I don't understand is why at Hard difficulty or above... the AI does not use: 1) Ultimate Ship/Starbase Abilities - I have never seen the AI use Missile Barrage on a lev 10 Marza or detonate a TEC Starbase right before it died to wipe out my fleet... this is HUGE! Frankly this crap should be enabled on Hard+. This would help SO much... I have literally fought

In diplomacy you have no real options fighting the Pirate Base other than mass kostura or brute force of arms. Diplomacy is kind of a shitty expansion. It's WAY too easy to make friends with whoever you want within five minutes once you've done the research, and the pirates are utterly, totally, completely broken in almost every possible way they can be. The only good thing about Diplomacy is that the game seems to perform a little better than it did in Entrenchment. I

You sir, are wrong. Pirate strength is not fine when every pirate ship has the strength of a military capital ship. Pirate strength is not fine when pirates are the dominate force of arms in the galaxy. Pirate strength is not fine when pirates have unlimited amounts of fleet supply. Pirate strength is not fine when you have 400+ pirate ships sitting at the pirate base. Pirate strength is simply put - not fine.

A good gaming PC is always capable of out performing the latest generation console from what I have found. Therefore, I am not worried about PC gaming. I have literally been hearing that PC gaming is dead since 1996. Enough! It's not going anywhere. Hell, as consoles become more complex they will have to feature the same input devices as computers. An X-Box 360 is really nothing more than an outdated gaming PC w/ a stripped down version of Windows. Over time as the vidiots who drool all over

This bug has been fixed for Entrenchment and Diplomacy at this point, I haven't had any reccurences since the last patch, and every phase stabilizer seems to be working flawlessly now. Make sure you've updated recently, Maverick. If you're still having problems after the update... lame. If you are, you might need to contact support to make sure they're aware that there is still a problem floating around. -Itharus

Swerdy, you've got the wrong quote, I'm getting no slow downs... unless I wanted to fight all 1,000 of those pirates at once in the same place o_O. Although I could see how so many persistent pirate ships could hurt older computers... there do seem to be a lot more left over pirates these days.

Pirates are still broken, still OP. They really really really need to be an anti-economy force not a military force (or at least only a small military force). Whoever gets the pirates on their bid/missions basically wins the game at this point. And disabling the pirates is not a fix... it's hiding your head in the sand. At this point, I would not recommend this game to anyone unless they stopped at Entrenchment. In my latest game there are 415 pirate ships at their pir

Uh... no? Diplomacy doesn't really have a place in 1v1 unless you set it to "2 allied victors" and feel like winning the game within 10 minutes. Make more peace and more pacts with AI's to increase your diplomacy score... also spread around envoy cruisers.

The planet-assault Vasari capship (for the life of me I cannot remember the name right now), the one w/ the missile swarm, is also really good at assaulting starbases. The bonus damage it gets vs structures applies vs star bases, too. Also, the disintegrate ability rapes caps/starbases. Furthermore, a pair of lev 10 Kortuls can facerape a starbase by themselves given a enough time. And lastly... the Subverter shield debuff works against star bases... so... that + phase missile
