EVENT PreCursorShip reported that the neutral option would provide a 1%-2% planet improvement, totally useless 10 x 1.01 = 10.01 truncate to an integer and it is still 10. Shouldn't the range be 10%-20%

Couldn't this have been eaiser by grepping the IP addresses of the forum posts origination. Although it was probably quicker to post the question in the poll.
I like the gates. Each should need to be built by the same constructer. The ends need to be "tuned" to one another and if the constructor is destroyed by the enemy or yourself the primary end is also destoryed. Another requirement, in keeping with the backstory, is that it needs to be in a sector with a colonised planet of a certain technical level so that the appropriate maintenance could be performed. Funds and technical ability could govern if the gate fails (destroying any ships in transit,
Hopefully there will be a place to whine about the "right to innovate". and "where did you want to be today except for the blue screen"
Hmmm. Cari, any possibilty that it can be coded so both we and the AI can not see a newly spawned anomaly unless it is in the sensor range of a ship or planet we/they own? Maybe as an option?
It follows you to the destination sector. Enter it again and it takes you back to the original position, or sometimes, yet another new position.
A GNN report of over population (at least once to give players a hint the there is a population factore to morale would be a GoodThing. Birthcontrol tech is another very excellent idea. Different approaches/effectiveness: rhythm, pill, religious. Goverment imposed drinking water, food additives. Evil approaches might be chemical and biological imposements on certian social factions.
Similar to the attack modules. I had some defeders stationed near the starbase that had attack buffs and they got whipped by enemy corvettes before they could fire.
I had my original Survey and 2 Starhawks all very Uber. I had 2 parked near starbases for attack buffs on top of their already outragous values.
I finished a B4D HUGE galaxy over the weekend. Played until 5AM slept till 10:30, played until 10PM. Played Sunday 9AM to 8:30PM. Was try desparatly to finish a Terror Star (that 5000 bc is a killer) when I won on a cultural victory (I was mercantile and was trying for a trade victory).
or is it a strategy? The galaxy was scoured clean of anomalies and its just me and a AI opponnent. Rather than eyeballing a HUGE galaxy for new anomalies, I used their survey vessel to "bird-dog" the appearance of a new anomaly. I could outpace them, so I would follow the ship and when I was within range I would grab it. You could also just extend their direction of travel to find it, but then you have to chase back to the ship and you spend time re-adjusting your path to intercept them again. I
Fixing the bug would indeed be a Good Thing. There have been a number of occasions where structure values have been stomped on. As this is really a symptom of a deeper bug, it might not manifest itself in such a glaringly obvious fashion. An internal consistancy check assertion might flag early enough that that the time and effort of putting them in place might reduce debugging time over the course of several bugs as to pay for itself, especiqally since new logic, modules and other changes are b
I was introducing my nephew to GC on my laptop and he managed to get a negative value for the cost of the starfighter. He asked "does that mean I'll get money when I buy it?" Sure enough he got a gazillion credits. I think there needs to be a reasonableness check & assertion when 1) the price is read from the structure, 2) when the price is placed in the message to dialog box. If it is too much work to build an array (and hash its values so you know the array has not been stepped upon is still v
I have only played a HUGE map and they could travel much further than that. I'll have to check out a smaller map next game.
"C:\Program Files\Drengin.net\Loader.exe /d" make it think the /d is part of the program name, use: "C:\Program Files\Drengin.net\Loader.exe" /d This is why I HATE spaces in file & directory names.
This is what cari sent me (Thanx Cari) To fix this problem until the next build, follow these steps: Open the StarHawk.SHIP file Open the shippak1.ship file. copy the last line from the definition of the survey ship (the one labeled range) exactly as it is in the file, including the spaces before the word “Range”, and paste it under the last line in the StarHawk definition.
> is already on the list of suggestions I saw it in your overview after I posted. I do like "Encyclopedia Arcanum" as the panel title though. ;) > show on the minimap where they are That would be cool, if one zooms in to get the sector large enough to discern it. I was actually thinking something simpler: the X,Y of the the map and then the X,Y in the sector like 12,26/5,9 I couldn't do that in my notes because I had no ruler in the display map to accurately place the anomaly wi
I want to defend my habitable systems from poachers. The rat bahstads always seem to have more movement points than the sensor range of any ship I post to try to nab them in the act. I would like to have a ship, a little less than the cost of a star fighter, maybe only available from an anomaly, maybe only 1 per race, with no defense and just enuff weaponry to destroy a colony ship and just enough stealth to allow it to escape "undetected", i.e. the destruction of the ship would not trigger
Suggestion: Sound cues for transition in direction of cash flow.
Actually, I have pointed the ship to a destination within my range (usually the nearest corner, there's usually a reason I am in tyhe area) and it moves quite obediantly. Also noted in another thread, ranges do change with map size, I think it was 1 for ever 6 sector increase.
With over 1GHz, a gob of memory and tons of disk space I am still forced to resort to writing things down on paper. To help me lose my dependency on environmentally incorrect behaviour I would like to see the following features, perhaps grouped under an "Encyclopedia Arcanum" panel: 1. Logging of the planets that heve been seen, sortable by habitability and maybe even distance & direction. 2. Similarly, locations of observed anomalies, and classification of surveyed anomalies.
To be honest, I saw one rotating, but by and large it is not what I am focusing on. They could have been left static as it adds little to the game. I know they worked hard on them but I jsut don't see the reward from the work.
How dead is the idea of being able to stake a claim and maybe create and drop a buoy (1 move, 0 def, 1 HP, 1 attack) that would allw an intercept of a colony ship. If the ship rams and destroy's the buoy (which it must to colonise the clamed system) it is a declaration of war. If I have the buoy destroy the colony ship, also a delaration of war.
I won a large game by a tidy margin and submitted it to the metaverse. As noted in my other post when I quit GC it popped an error. I had saved the game just prior to taking out the last opponent. I loaded that saved game and won again and was prompted to submit to the metaverse again. As the rprevious submission was enough to put me in 1st place I did not want to cheat the standings so I clicked "No Thanks". Are the game serialized when they are created or is there some other mechanism to preve
The music and sound effects went away earlier in the game. After submitting the game to the metaverse I tried to quit from the main menu. It posted a M$ VC++_ Debug Library pop-up "Damage: after normal block #35035 at 0x0Be09080 It can be reproduced from a saved game, which I will email to the support. The debug.err has a number of assertions toward the end from pear: Debug Message: ******* Starting Game Shell ******* Debug Message: Going Fullscreen Debug Mes
