I was just thinking that. It would be just our luck that Total Biscuit's game would minidump on him.
*confused* It uses Steam Friends...(or will - it may not be in your version yet).
Yeah, but the in-game Friends from Diplomacy was just much easier to use and showed the names of games people were playing. Maybe I just don't know how to use the Steam Friends page properly.
Here's a screenshot for the new map Race to Paradise, which can be played for 4v4 or 5v5. As you can see, there aren't many gravity wells separating the two sides, so hopefully it will result in faster-paced, furious games. It's basically the same as Gateway to Paradise but with less stuff in the middle. Race to Paradise <img src="http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p96/jmhaber/Sins
Yeah, if you don't want Biscuit to get killed right away by a Corvette spam rush, you could do one of my customs where the teams start out separated from one another. You might consider the new 5v5 map Race to Paradise (screenshot below). Alternatively, you could try Red Crush v2, The Mosh Pit v2, Gateway to Paradise 5v5, or Asteroid Belt 5v5. These sorts of games are sometimes referred to as "PUGs", which means (P)ick(U)p clan-match style (G)ame. The origin of PUGs comes from the FPS community where there was a huge difference in feel between playing FPS on a public server and playing in an organized clan match. So people started organizing pick-up clan match style games on Internet Relay Chat (IRC), with the idea being to be able to play a game that felt like a clan match but without having to be in a clan or to adh
We definitely need an in-game Friends function. This is one area where Rebellion has taken a step back.
Are you playing on Diplomacy or Rebellion because we have considerably higher numbers in Rebellion than we do on Diplomacy atm.
Last night, the numbers for both games seemed to be about even. I think most of the pros have moved to Rebellion, so he might actually be better off trying to play on Diplomacy. Either way, there seems to be tons of newish people around on both versions.
There seem to be several excellent players out there who have established new secretive identities. You can tell that they are great players based on their records, but it's hard to say who they used to be before they started playing Rebellion. Who knows. Perhaps JJ and Tyr are out there, somewhere. I'm sure JJ's around; he wouldn't want to miss this.

I should probably point out that many of the non-home asteroids on those maps have extra militia on them, as do some of the planets.
Screenshots! Warring Systems -- the original. The number of planets in the middle has been significantly reduced for the v3 and v4. <span style="color: #00ff00; font-size:

I think it's built into the Rebellion files, somewhere in your Steam folder, but I haven't actually dug it up yet. The map
hmm... I didn't know you made map packs, Sanchezz, and I've been on the forums for a 1.5 years+ or so now. Most people get them when they see a game hosted with one of my custom maps and a title like: 5s TinyURL.com/Sins15 Some people figure out t
They're the same maps as my previous packs--they just auto-install into the right place for Rebellion now. No one gets a screwed starting position on any of the maps and for most of them you start near your allies. Highlights include a (now playable) 5v5 version of the standard 2v2 map Systems of War called Warring Systems and different versions of the map Gateway to Paradise (inspired by the standard 3v3 map Gateway). The biggest edition might be the map Race to Paradis
It pretty much still plays like Entrenchment does. Diplomacy didn't add much for the multiplayer PvP game other than a "Faster" speed setting and the requirement that you do a little bit of research before you can feed credits and resources to allies. Rebellion pretty much plays like Diplomacy but with the new Titans. For you, the biggest change will probably be a dramatic reduction in lag and the frequency of minidumps.

I asked about it on the ClickTeam community forums (makers of the auto install program maker, "Install Creator". A poster said that this path should work for XP, Vista, and Win7. For Vista and Win7 it just finds the "Documents" folder and not "My Documents". #mydocuments#\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge
Thanks Harpo. It sounds like I'm going to have to make separate install files for XP, Vista, and maybe Win 7. XP: %userprofile%\My Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge Vista: %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge (???) Win 7: I think it's the same as Vista. C:\Documents and Settings\ \My Documents\My Game
Is Rebellion going to implement auto-downloading for Galaxy Forge-made custom maps? In the meantime I'm trying to figure out what the install path variables would be for Rebellion. Right now my Galaxy Forge folder is located at (Win XP): C:\Documents and Settings\ \My Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge In an auto-install file creator, I would set the installation path to be:
It sounds like I need to find the "System Path Variable" for "My Documents" or "My Games". Any ideas? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environment_variable And whatever happened to the idea of having auto-download be built-into Rebellion anyway?
I like to distribute my custom maps by creating a single auto-install file. What is the current installation path for Rebellion as of v.0.76. On my computer, Win XP, it's currently: C:\Documents and Settings\ \My Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\GalaxyForge What does it look like for Vista and Win 7? If an auto-install file can have one generic code for the path, what should it be?
If something has to be done about the titans, then I like the experience penalty idea. Getting resurrected at a Titan foundry should cost 15-20% of the experience points.
No, you are not alone. However, it is a strategy game and not a novel. If you really want a story, I recommend some good science fiction such as The Mote in God's Eye. (Why that book hasn't been made into a movie yet, I have no idea.)
