It's 6 pm U.S. Eastern Time and there are 209 people on the Rebellion Beta--and it's just a beta! I hope this is a sign of good things to come. According to Star Player, there was a big ad for Rebellion on the Steam program. Maybe that means that anyone who loaded up Steam today saw it.

Actually, standard protocol and proper etiquette is for the players on the losing team to quit once the writing is clearly on the wall. This spares the players on the winning team from having to go through the often boring motions of mopping up to the last planet. It also allows new, more interesting games to get started.

So, how can you convert an older map to be compatible with Rebellion? Is it as simple as changing a number in the .galaxy text file? ("Version = 3") or whatever?

Is the Sins online multiplayer culture really that different from that of any other online game? The problem is that you're seeing the culture of the grizzled pros, which is probably the same as the culture of the pros in any other game. I used to play the original Unreal Tournament (UT99) heavily and spent time with the pro community on Internet Relay Chat (IRC), and the culture there was probably worse or the same. What Sins lacks is a large number of non-pros in onlin

I would be very impressed if they could accomplish all of that. It almost seems like something that should be built into Steamworks--a clan match system for each game. Years ago when the original Unreal Tournament (UT99--first person shooter) was popular there was a site called The Proving Grounds that kept track of clan rosters, facilitated clan matches (right down to which 3 maps were to be played), and that recorded wins and losses and arranged a ladder. Steam should se

Wow, that looks like a good amount of publicity. I hope it increases as we get closer to release. Have you guys thought about finding ways to engage in viral marketing with the mainstream RTS crowd that plays Starcraft and the like? There are millions of Starcraft players, so you could potentially make thousands of sales if you can somehow get in front of that audience.

Could you tell us what version of the game you have? What does it say in the very bottom right of the screen? (i.e.; "Diplomacy v1.34") Did you purchase a hard-copy of the game at a bricks-and-mortar store or did you download it?

Sins is awesome for online multiplayer PvP. In case you're wondering, your average 4v4 or 5v5 game only lasts 1.5 hours. I think you should ignore Rebellion for now because it is a raw, unfinished Beta, and instead focus on learning to play the Diplomacy expansion. You need to learn how the game works a bit before you judge it. You might also consider watching some replays of games that have pro players to see how they do it and study what they do. You can

Are you logging on via Diplomacy? Are you able to access the Lobby chat channel? Sadly, the game just has low player counts and many of the people who do play only play private comp stomps with their friends. However, there are still games to be had if you log on between, say, 3 pm and 10 pm U.S. Eastern time. The activity has decreased somewhat since the Beta was released because many people who used to play Diplomacy are now spending time on the Beta. Before
I have a suggestion, make it possible to disable Titans in the game/map setup options. Not sure exactly how one could go about doing this, but it would allow for people to pick between a more "typical" Diplomacy/Entrenchment style game and a faster game with Titans.
I agree. I'm all for a "No Titans" setting option along with a "No Corvettes" option.

It's an interesting issue. How will this affect players in the suicide spot and what kind of additional demands will it create on players in eco spots? In some cases where a member of Team A is in a suicide spot, Team B often does not have a dedicated eco. It might thus be possible that with enough feed, the player on Team A in the suicide spot can produce a titan before either of the two guys who are doubling him can. Then what? One solution to this prob

If you want to PvP, now might be a good time to try it in Diplomacy. It seems like most of the pros are occupied with the Beta and that there are a lot of newer people around on Diplomacy right now. Part of the problem is that about 80% of the people who are online only play comp stomps with their friends.

But look at the bright side--what kind of a game would it be if a new guy could hold his own against people with 1000+ games versus other people? It's a strategy game that offers room for growth and improvement, which is part of what makes it

Well, it is a Beta. Personally, I prefer to play Diplomacy for now and from what I can tell more people are on the Diplomacy server. However, even there the player counts are low. For some reason 99.5% of all Sins players only do it in single player vs. AI. The game seems to have appealed to more of a single player 4x crowd than it did to to the online multiplayer RTS PvP crowd. Also, Sins suffered from technical problems early on back in 2008 that hurt the onlin
