"Simultaneous turns" is a multiplayer thing, where in a MP game everyone takes their turn at the same time. It can create some "first to click wins" problems in competitive games, but in a coop game it MASSIVELY speeds the game up. It means that if we're playing together, we can both act at the same time (Endless Space does this). The other method is sequential turns, where when it's my turn you can't do anything except wait (Shogun 2 does this). That's at the

Two fleets enter, one fleet leaves. Where GC3 will be different is how the battles are fought. If battles are auto-resolved, not much will appear different, but once fleets meet in the battle screen everything changes.<br

Of course, people will still try to dig it up and beat on it some more, but at least we'll have concrete proof to shut them up with.
Unless it's not implemented in the alpha. :D (Which is entirely possible, several things won't be.)

The little we know on roles is here: https://forums.galciv3.com/450893/page/1/ You can use it to alter ship behaviors in some way, which sounds like a way to have tactics in battles. Endless Space had battles where you pick a "card", which was a special ability, for each of three phases. You then watched the outcome. The battles look awesome, but the card system itself is a weak point of the game. The expansion Disha

Ive read them already. I've been here a while. :p The problem is they also said that ordering individual ships what to fire on won't be happening. How do you take that and infer from it that there is going to be anything other than a more sophisticated auto resolve system? Thats kind of the problem right now. There isn't enough information to know what it is, so we are seeing what we want to see (myself included). Based on what's been given with fleet roles and

This is a discussion forum, last I checked. Discussion is going to happen. If you want to be able to just say anything without "interruption" (aka: people telling you why the idea won't work), go start a blog.
Quoting Tridus, reply 1There should be an easy UI to do upgrades, but upgrades aren't free and I don't want the game spending all my money upgrading old ships automatically. What we need is a way to do mass upgrades in a flexible manner. GC2 suffered from the choices of "upgrade one ship" or "upgrade all ships of this class". Those are fine for small numbers of ships. If you have 100 ships of the same class to

I use it in Age of Wonders 2 all the time, but that is turn based and does an interesting job with terrain obstacles, line of sight, and things like city walls. If the pacing is good and there is interfering things for me to do? Yeah, I will use it. If it's tedious? Nah. That doesn't m

Given that the alpha could come out in a month, they may have already started building it. So it really doesn't matter if its popular in the community or not. Can it be added? Yes. Will it be added? No. RTS is not a direction they've given any indication they want to move the franchise in. I don't doubt that Total War: Space could be a really good game, but it's a different game than what GalCiv 3 is going to be.

There's no special instructions to have Steam download it, unless they're doing something weird. Steam doesn't care if it's per-release or not if you have a key and it's the only version available. You only need to enable something for alpha/beta versions if the game is already in release and they also have a beta branch, in that case you need to opt in. Stuff like how to report bugs will be released at the same time, and there's really no point in speculating
