For the demo: You get a free week of full play. Anyone who cares to do so can already pirate it (we know this..) so there's no loss to the game simply going BUY ME NOW I WON'T PLAY ANYMORE after a week. If you don't give people the entire access, they'll wonder why. There's no loss to releasing the entire game for free for a limited period, because people can actually base an opinion on it.
The answer would be a cultural change where people no longer generally believe that stealing and cheating is acceptable behavior. It is unlikely to happen and it would probably take generations. Still, it is the only 'solution' I see.
The answer is for games companies to stop wasting money. E.G. Demigod Maps. They don't have to be that detailed. Then, you can retail your game for less, given that it's impossible to recover that money. DRM promotes
Is there a really competitive league? I simply can't find motivation to play, and play hard, when I keep on getting paired up with and against noobs. It's like.. I could play Demigod.. and lose because my teammate did a quarter the damage of me. Or, end up with AIs. Or against AIs. I think now the connection issue has been resolved enough that I pose that the real issue with playing Demigod is not connecting to other people. It's finding other people that are fun to play against, and
It should be possible to cast spells on yourself by clicking the massive portrait. I also think that enemy Demigods should be much more easily visible. When the game comes to minion and Giants spam, I can't even find the guy I'm supposed to be killing.
I've been having this very problem. The trouble is that ALL of the Dark Demigods (except maybe the Queen) have easy instant significant damage. Fireball, Bite, Spit. Regulus's Snipe simply doesn't measure up, and the Rook has no such skill (That can actually hit people), nor does Sedna (Pounce never, EVER, EVER actually hits the enemy). It's simply a question of the Light side has no damage, and even in groups this doesn't change. Dark, on the other hand, can happily put three Demigods in one
Yes, thank you very much for the update.
You don't need to be mobile when you're on top of the EXP/Artifact flag. And tower farms ARE mobile, just slow.
I haven't pirated anything in a long time. Interesting how you assume that I am one though. And, why don't you show a source for 90%? Nobody knows any real figures for how many torrents there are out there, let alone how many is for what. And, when I gave other examples of P2P filesharing, they're basically just torrents under a different name. Seeding is used here too, even if the owners of the systems boost them along with HTTP servers. In any case, just blanketing everyone
Neilo, you're an idiot. BitTorrent != Piracy. World of Warcraft uses P2P filesharing to distribute patches, just for a start. Then, there's official uses, for example the BBC, a corporation owned by the UK Government, also uses filesharing to distribute programs. I've downloaded plenty of legitimate torrents in my time. If you brand P2P filesharing as Piracy, then you're just stupid.
WEP is a security feature with absolutely no impact on Demigod.
It arrived for my brother here in the UK today -> £10.99 customs duty! That's nearly 50% extra on top of the cost for a boxed. Horrendous. Returning to sender we think.
Heavenfall, what are you on? No player can fly, the only time things are not entirely flat is when you have flying units that are scripted to do so, or when they're dead. The map not being 100% flat in every way does not impact the gameplay at all.
I got 1000 for nothing at all.
The maps for Demigod I remember being told were hideously expensive.
Absolutely I want to see a support Demigod. Like, a Demigod who plays best when standing at the health crystal. He would have an abililty, which would gain him a % of gold and EXP gained by creeps. He would have abilities to recall teammates to him, and a few other teammate buffs: He can increase mana/health regeneration (health for towers/creeps too) He can teleport items. He can rebuild destroyed towers. First just ToL, then archer towers, then Fortre
By around the world, what you really mean is the only ones noted were in Canada, US or Mexico. I didn't see a single UK site nor European.
@ Frogboy (Why won't the quote button work? :P) Really? I've never heard of GPGNet routing traffic. In that case, I take back my comments.
Wagnard is correct- it is infact the vast MINORITY of SupCom games which are 2v2-1v1. Massively most of them are larger. It used to be mostly the other way around, but now 6-8 player games rule. Why Demigod has problems, I don't know. It must be your NAT facilitator.
Stardock forced GPG to remove them. And yes, if you know how, you can re-activate them in the game (PM me if you wish). However, you can't play online with such a version.
I'm so sick of this. Some Regulus or UB simply spams attack speed items. How are you supposed to counter that? My 1300 Hammer Smash or 1050 Fireball simply doesn't scale to this, making the Demigods with skills entirely useless once large quantities of gold are involved. Who cares if the Rook can do 500DPS with his main weapon, because he can't catch anyone.
Yes. Derek Smart has no idea wtf he's going on about.
Damn, the first person he spoke to looked so badly put on the spot.
Sinfulvoid, you're an idiot. The point he makes about Supreme Commander is extremely valid. The difference between buying a car and buying Demigod is that every road is the same. A car is an isolated system. On the other hand, there are a billion third, fourth, fifth party things on your machine that can interfere with the game. Like ISP. They often set themselves to filter BitTorrent and other P2P traffic for legal reasons and because they consitute a massive amount of traffic. What the hell
Jessep, I agree. Given that they already had all the source they needed to make modding work, it's MORE effort to remove it than it is to enable it. I wouldn't still be playing Forged Alliance without the custom options and mods/maps.
Annatar, you're wrong. It's possible to rewrite most of the game from scratch. You can change how damage works, really core things, and the entire UI is done in script, as well as you can obvs add new maps and Demigods. You could make the game a racing game if you had the patience. Not only that, but it is possible to mod the game right now, with a bit of hacking. I just won't tell you how because people who can't do it will ruin their installs, and even UI mods will cause you to not be able
