Ansury. We get it man. You REALLY feel disapointed, and REALLY don't like ToA. Ever heard the expression beating a dead horse? Let it go man, find something happy in your life and smile for God's sake. Tell you what, if Brad posts here that he won't give you a refund then perhaps we can take up a collection for your cause. I'll throw 10 dollars in the pot just to get you to stop. And I'm poor

If you are a games collector, as I am (sorta) You look for a cool manual, and a sweet box for the game. You know, the extras that make us more weird than other gamers. When you order the CD you get neither a box nor a manual. You could always wait for 2.0 and have yourself a manual on printer paper lol! So, the game is great, but I would recommend in your case to just get the digital version as you get NOTHING when ordering the CD except that little CD in a non-descript envelope. (
Ansury, if you got "silenced" then you must have deserved it. You've been doing nothing but insulting the game for weeks on all kinds of topics over and over and over. Sometimes you say, "Oh, I was trolling" other times you just keep berating the game. If they didn't silence you for that during this whole time, then I doubt this latest rant got you silenced.
I get high on every race every game with no problem. Masochistic and above.
Yes its a bug, I get invisible ships from time to time to, not necessarily as gifts either, just sometimes they're invisible. Usually fine when I restart the game.
Cntrl+N works too, not sure if you knew this. But yes I have the same issue; it crashes everytime I restart using the menu buttons.
I dissagree, I like the rersources, they give the AI a chance at winning. When times get tough, I grab one to increase my income.
they give the AI a chance of winning if the human refrains from using the diplomacy to get them destroyed. too much willpower for me :( I set them to rare too, and on my custom maps, i put NONE on. THat's the best you can do unless the option to turn them off someday is added.
I play on masochistic and above and never encounter a spy problem. I simply must not have the skills necessary (Like ansury) to be the top dog militarily. CE do kind of screw the AIs tho, they bever seem to build them so when the human does, its a major exploit for the human. This could be fixed by making the AIs build them too.
gotta love the mega events :) but yes they are absurdly, ridiculously, and disgustingly overpowered events, but they are supposed to be. you can turn them off. :)
the freighter per route makes more money every turn the further it is from its home base. turn money each route grows over time without you doing anything
When you get a crash, post here with the debug report, they will help you. Just make sure its the debug from the game that crashed, and not after you started playing again.
ALL ships and ALL SB's have instant (meaning you don't need to take up space with them) INCREDIBLE sensors on them. You can see for great distances wherever a ship is, and this counts freighters in trade routes too!Erm ... my ToA experience with this is that the cost for the survey module drops to zero, so that you can equip after that every ship for free with a survey module. But since existing ships usually don't have such a module on them they cannot see farther than before ...

I haven't seen this yet. Is it just a randomly occuring thing like finding a Precursor ship?
Yes random, and I've got it with Meg Events turned off so it must not be a mega event or its bugged, because the effect is MEGA
You can build them just by researching the required tech. Note that some wonders require techs not in your tech tree so don't worry about those. The wonder I almost always want above all others is Eye of the Universe. Sensors IV is the tech for this and it is imo the single greatest available wonder period. ALL ships and ALL SB's have instant (meaning you don't need to take up space with them) INCREDIBLE sensors on them. You can see for great distances wherever a ship is, and this c
Unfortunately there's only so much the editors can be made to do; they're basically just GUIs for the XML/text file modding. They can't be made to do any trigger-based scripting because there just isn't anything like that in the game engine to begin with.I do believe we're working on a scripting engine for the fantasy game (and by extension, GC3), so those should hopefully be a lot more flexible than GC2 is.
I understand the difficulty and am pleased there are editors at
Yeah the editors do suck. I don't care about that one, but the map editor is no better. They are poor excuses for commercial game editors. I'd expect these kinds of editors if the devs had created them never intended to release them, but eventually caved into pressure from gamers who were willing to take anything they could get. Not something released as part of an expansion, and arguably the most important feature of the expansion. And the UP... ugh. That thing is in such need of an upgra
Is trade more lucrative in larger sized galaxies? Because in the medium ones I play often, Trade is essentially useless except perhaps very early to balance out early losses before income streams manifest (which I rarely do because the production required to make these ships could go to other improvements or research) or for relations purposes (which at the obscene level I play at, everyone hates me all the time anyway, and even if they do like me, they can still make war with me at the d
Okay I give up, I was just trolling you guys. lol
I thought something was up, after reading all them posts on the front page ;)
it's just a shame we can't pick and choose which expansion features to keep.
agreed
Isn't it interesting that no matter how hotly this topic is debated, or how strongly people feel about liking or disliking the new or the old screen, nobody has any objection to the OPTION of choosing either screen
Hi, and congratulations on your growing family :D The second question, dealing with the map-editor - is that hopefully the editor will be improved but I am not sure as to what if any improvements will be made, perhaps a Stardock person can help with this. As it is now, there is no way to "guide" the randomization, except that you can randomize stars, planets, resources by themselves. If you use "w" to place a planet, you can turn that planet to "0" or whateve
As far as features, Galciv has barely delivered. Some improvements happened, but entire pieces of the puzzle were ignored (tactical combat, more specific diplomacy options, etc).

Oh I can totally see why they didn't implement very complex ground invasion battles, that's not the issue. The issue is messing with something that worked fine, and not improving it, but making it worse. Without even giving people the option of retaining the old, even though it doesn't aff
You should stick to the auto-designed ships since I think the same bugs affect the AI and thus they would have much more powerful ships than you if you design your own.
The only thing I still have problems with are the 3 sliders which determine how many percent of the population you put to military/social/research. I don't understand why this is a global setting, after which you have a cumbersome setting per planet to fine-tune things (in a very limited way). I think this is not at all transparant and seriously deminishes my feel for what is going on with the resources.
It seems that you are not specializing your planets. I'm no
