This has been discussed previously. IIRC the adverse-combat-outcome was added as a result of champions having no penalty from being defeated in combat (broken nose, concussion, etc). And under the current system champions may still be slain, it just doesn't happen frequently. Personally, I like the present system. However, I wouldn't be averse to a a toggle under the game options screen (map size, difficulty, victory conditions
How much damage the spell does is known to the AI via the XML. When you play, don't use select items and spells based on what they say they'll do? That's what the AI does.
Well, that's kind of what I do. But as a casual gamer, say, maybe I'm retarded because it's difficult for me to tell how much damage a spell is going to do *cough* UI improvement *cough*
I believe that this is a bug that I posted for beta 2. On the cloth map, the rat's nest (from the quest) shows up as a flat black tile. cheers, -tid242
voted "Excellent" If this was a finished/released game I would've voted "fair". At this stage (it's still beta!), it's excellent. It's a unique game, with tons of potential and although it's a slow-paced game, it's easy to accidently play for an extra hour or two. Yea, there are bugs, and it's not flushed out or even finished yet, but it's still beta. I think it's doing really
I might have missed this, but... - built custom faction with the ability to recruit beasts - killed big drake - get the message "learn "drake whatever tech" to recruit drakes" - on the civ tech tree I see nothing about drakes - there is a "dragon" one at the end of the tree - is this the same as drakes? Bug/typo, or am I just missing the drake camp on the tree somewhere? cheers, <p
Pretty much any MOB on the cloth map that I kill, their little statue/figure sticks around until the following turn. So often, I kill them, and then when I go to explore their lair it /looks/ as though I'm walking on top of their little statue, but it's just a visual artifact,t the game treats the tile as though it's (rightfully) vacant. cheers -tid242
A wolf army spawned on a coastal tile, with only two of the models visible on land. My cursor changed into a combat cursor but I couldn't right-click them. I had just accepted a quest that asked me to get three wolf pelts, so maybe they were spawned by the quest? Reduced 35%Original 1599 x 952
Ditto that, I had them spawned on top of a mountain - I should've just killed the old bastar

Quoting IronKaiser, reply 2I'd say that this certainly isn't too much to ask for, and indeed should be incorporated into the main factions as well. Resoln's deathly, ghostly realm should look different from Kraxis' sandy plains or Magnar's volcanic lands. Tarth territory should look forested, and Pariden pastures should have a bluish hue, as if the magic of the realm pervades the very ground they walk.
<br
I would much rather have a dynamic limit. Just as theirs a pack-mule encumberance, I would like to see an variable equip limit with different types of champions being able to equip different amounts and different types of items. For now a item per champion limit seems fine, but as a future direction this being a modifiable trait seems interesting and intuitive to me. -tid242
Is it Gal Civ 2, or Battle for Wesnoth where it actually lists the probability of outcomes as far as unit damage, death, etc.? -tid242
Ah... interesting. Alright, couldn't remember if they were removed, or just the ability to manually build them were. thx. -tid242
ps: 0.86 is out now. -wmf
Agreed on bears. Igny's tho... they've got a ton of armor (resistance?), taking only about 1/4 - 1/3 the damage a soft target (such as a bear) would take. Also, they are immune to fire, which negates my usual fire-spell fallback when I'm losing a fight. -tid242
Furthermore, I think there should be no restriction on hitting one's own dudes with fireball. I can think of lots of situations where I care about killing the enemy more than not killing my meat-shields. -tid242
Caravans have been removed from the game (correct me if I'm wrong on this), but Capitar's unique faction ability, "Legacy of Serrane" is that caravans cannot be attacked and give diplomatic bonuses or something. This is on the initial screen where a player chooses his/her sovereign and faction. cheers, -tid242
Game Mechanics. Factions still feel too similar. Champions need more differentiation. .
Actually, I think that altering the UI coloring for kingdoms vs empires would do a lot for this. While I like the current coloring scheme, it's made up of very warm colors, especially in screens like the tech tree, etc. all deep reds, greens and blues set in a rich warm grey backdro
Wow, long thread. I voted "Excellent" because for a beta, I really do think that it's excellent. Each release has been substantially improved over the last and the framework is there for a really great game. I might be a non-mainstream gamer so my opinion might not mean a huge amount, but it's got a really laid-back feel that belies a drawn-out desperate grind against the world - which I really dig. That being said, there is st

On a more serious note: +1 on the double-click to auto-build fix, I was just finding that annoying about 15 mins ago. cheers, -tid242
I might have missed this, but does anyone know if any of the "special abilities" some of the default sovereigns have are available by any means (other than modifying xml) for custom sovereigns? For example, is Ceresa's 'Staff of Souls' available by selection, or one must choose a pre-made sovereign to possess such things? If they are unavailable, [SUGGESTION] - it may be worth considering treating these "special items/abilites" such as the "super abili

Curious when 0.76 is going to be released. I'm finally able to spend a little time with FE, but I don't want to post bug reports of things that have already been addressed and fixed. cheers, -tid242
