I can say that this is a problem not shared by everyone - I bought GalCiv2 ultimate just a week ago and has seen nothing of this, so taking a look at drivers / settings might be an idea, as Valiard suggests. (I actually have a similar PC to what you report - 9600 GT graphic card, xi-fi soundblaster platinum, and windows XP.. although calling it a beast is a bit of an exaggeration. :). If you have the very newest Nvidia drivers, I've run into some problems with those, so you might want

Oh boy. Well, I've played almost every 4x game there is, and Moo1 & 2 holds a special place in my heart. There are some other good ones that has been released though. Moo3 - the less said the better. A good example of listening too much to the players, I believe. (We want more of that and that and that and oops it became overloaded with details??) Sword of the Stars is one of the better successors, but it's also not for everyone. Lighter on micromanagement

I've seen a few more of these threads pop out, and I have to say I assume at least some of them are 'trolls'. This one doesn't, so I post here. The OP posted a very decent update to his original post on page 2 or so, which I suggest reading. (It's kind of obvious a lot here didn't.). With that said: Way too often, scantily clad women are not included in a game, magazine, movie, whatever because of artistic licence, but because sex sells. A lot. Demigod is far, far, FAR f

Science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of god. Well. *reads thread* Not credible science, at any rate. You can try to use logic, but that will generally be spurious logic. Attempts has been made. Descartes' removing everything we can possibly doubt and then see what remains (I think, therefore I am) and from there deduce what must be, for instance, but he takes a side step in his logic somewhere. Cougarsham's example - Heisenberg's uncerta

Thanks for the response, Zubaz. I've been playing the darn game for 8 hours straight now. Quite cool. :D (Gaah I should be getting to work soon...)

First the good news: It was downloadable a bit early, it's working fairly well (1 temporary freeze is all), and it's quite fun - the demigods are quite impressive, especially the Rook. :) The bad news: The digital download does not seem to contain a PDF manual, nor a tutorial. It's not the hardest game to get to grips with, but still, something like that would be nice, just in case I miss something. Regards, Me

Autosaves from a previous version works. Strangely enough. Not sure how autocast on repair work now, the skirantas(sp) carrier's autorepair did not trigger to repair a severely damaged frigate in its radius, but perhaps it won't to trigger to repair one in 30 or so ships. (A sentinel).... however, that was on the autosave from 1.14 that did start. Can't see how that would happen, but it's a detail. Other than that, patches r gud. :D
I like the art style. I'd love to see some graphics from the game beyond combat missions. Some of these TBS games have insanely bad graphics when you're not actually fighting.
The story sequences use the game engine combined with some rendering; if it was a movie the transition between combat and story would be considered somewhat seamless. You have a narrator at times but there's mostly dialog. You generally have 2-4 story scenes between each battle scene. It is skipp

1: Whichever you do, you'll have to provide some more information on how it doesn't work. Does it install? Does it crash? When does it crash? 2: You may want to check: http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 3: Consider using a more descriptive thread title.

Hard to say. Homeworld 2's been spotted in platinum collections / bargain bins this year, at least, so it's worth a look. Relic HAS been making homeworld-3 like noises over at relicnews, but nothing official, nothing confirmed, and lots of wishful thinking.

There's a lot of guys here who appears to like more tactical games with story. Well, Valkyria Chronicles was, at least for me, shockingly good. It's set in a europe - LIKE setting, ww2-ish but not really. It's cartoony, but not in the overly colorful WoW way. It is also, as far as I know, one of the most mature games out there. Not as in 'gore and nudity' mature, but as in a thoughtful and evocative story, detailed characters, and loving attention to detail. Now, I do lik
Homeworld 2 is definitely the easiest to play, but the story in the first Homeworld was magic. The Garden of Kadesh/Cathedral of Kadesh levels may well be my favourite of any game.
Oh yes, I remember Homeworld. Garden of Kadesh, I have to agree on that one. Cataclysm had some great parts too. But I still remember the voice of Fleet Command when the homeworld is burning. About getting homeworld 2 to work - if you suffer extreme slowdown

Well. I've played a LOT of MMO's. And some genres I haven't touched at all. But if you want the slightly less typical MMO's: 1: Eve Online. Yes, it's mentioned allready, but I'm going for a complete list here. And EVE Online is both good, and different from any other MMO out there, which is a good thing. The game economy is amazing, and realistic enough you have 'stock market trading'. I had a good laugh the first time I noticed people was investing in minerals to manipulate prices, f

As is obvious from the posts in this thread, people apparently either love it or hate it or something in between. ;) I have noticed that creature creation can be very creative but their abilities aren't. They do not combine - you could have hooves that give charge 3, and antlers also giving charge 3, but hooves and antlers is still just 3. So there are few hard choices to make, few possibilities for creative designs OTHER than in how they look. The same with buildings; you can create

Well, since you will earlier have answered wether you use / have the product (I don't at the moment recall what it was) they can easily filter that away. But there were a few places where options were lacking, yes.

Any idea if there's a way to recover the coupon code? I conscientiously filled out the survey but at the end IE had a hickup and died on me, taking the code with it. Which was a tad annoying.

About the german EULA: Well, not about the german one per se, but the norwegian one. Close enough. Basically, most US EULA's you're asked to sign are partly or wholly void because they ask you to give up rights granted by law that you cannot normally give up. (Some EULA's tries to get around that by claiming that by signing you also give up your applicable rights, but they haven't been tried in court so hard to say if they stick... some of those EULA's leaves a rather bad taste in my m

The shell takes a LONG time to get there though; are you sure it wasn't fired on the planet, siege completed, you colonized, THEN the shell hit? As you described it as 'just when the planet was colonized' it doesn't sound like it was fired while you controlled the planet. If you don't scout much a planet you just get to might be one of few targets being shot at, making it much more likely for this to happen, as well. Solution: Scout more or autofire less.
