Wait, what? Someone older than me? Can't be. :D I was just playing Mafia II and reminiscing about the good old days... (BTW Great mood in that game, really great.).

Agreeing with a lot here, FFH2 is a GREAT fantasy TBS. The amount of difference between the factions (I fancy the vampire lords or the ashen empire, or whatsitsname was (sorcerer lords out to bring hell on earth). It is a while since I played it, but I played it a lot for a while. A friend of mine broke his CIV IV dvd so he couldn't play it anymore - on purpose, so he wouldn't loose his job. he was bitten that bad. Kings of Dragon Pass ( http
Tanafres' point about maxsquads instead of numsquad is one I have observed as well; I too think the suggested change would be necessaryish.
On a side note, anyone know why, in the Hierosomething encyclopedia entry of temple of essence it says 50% on the left side, but 4900% on the right side?
About population boosting... while I have made a thread on prestige kingdom vs. empire (didn't see this one, but I also thought it seemed rather lopsided) there is one thing I've been considering, namely that empire is supposed to depend more on talented individuals than an educated people. This may also count for prestige - namely, royalty. Currently that doesn't work (They don't increase prestige in a city, as far as I know) but if that's fixed, then things may become more even. Of
Trying to figure what's happening in the campaign.... hm... oh yeah. People have been allying with the empires and thinking the old wars are over.... and being rather hostile with each other. From a principle kind of black/white view I agree, but the wars were over a hundred years ago. This is a time of rebuilding, alliances and cooperation (and competition for scarce resources)... only later comes the genocidal wars. :)
At any rate, there is nothing wrong with different style for different armors. Even more importantly, I'd like the clothing choices you make in the beginning to matter - not as in determining how the gear you get are designed physically, but in color choices. After all, you BUY most armor, and having it dyed in a color scheme similar to your starting color choices wouldn't be that far off. (A sovereign can afford a little flamboyance there.). As for female / male armors, it wa
"that patch of land now being completely and utterly worthless and unbuildable for the rest of the game" uh... I think you can build on it after a few turns. You might not want to quit so soon if THAT is your problem. Like others here I don't usually use defenders at first (not until I can make at least groups of 3) but then, I also loose a lot of pioneers... basically from my experience, you must have rotten luck. :)
One thing I remember about MoM were powerful, and inspiring, world effects. That is one thing I really think we need more of. ONe example: Armageddon. It turned land into volcanoes, had a high upkeep, but the more volcanoes, the more mana income you had. Eventually the spell was self-powering, and if noone stopped you, you'd have unlimited mana. It was a game-ender spell... or a you-ender spell. :D Now, in Elemental, we have spells to cripple a town. But I have not see
Interesting, even if there's a bit much 'ehm...' and elaboration at times. It did tempt me to make one myself, but that's probably (not certainly) not going to happen. :D
What the game needs is equipment that grants special abilities: Spears grant first - strike. (Sword-damage style but two-handed, counterattack BEFORE the attacker gets to attack. Heavily armored infantry will beat them since they survive the counterattack and attack spearmen with weaker defence (no shield), ditto archers, but an effective counter to two hander users. Spiked Armor - armor that damages any unit that attacks it in melee. Armor of repelling - after the first
Hi! I've mostly played Empire. I tend to like the bad guys... but anyway! I have seen two buildings and no resources that grant prestige. The buildings were monument (+1) and Temple of Someone (+50%). This seemed fairly okay, even though that is rather few ways to increase prestige. For kingdom cities I've seen inn (+1), tavern (+2), Town hall (+2? Or 4?) Palace (+7), Great Bazaar (+100%). This seems extremely one-sided, and prestige is a rather important value. Not as
Abomination: You forgot that there is the book of life and the book of death (kingdom / empire base magic). So... it's sort of there. :)
The relevant part of the refund policy is as follows: " For Stardock Products Only - Please review the minimum system requirements for our software carefully. If you request
Secondary effects is one thing that would not be a bad idea, but they're being introduced allready, sort of, at least for cold spells (stun effect on hit), some other differentiations. I would also like to see a hotbar/shortcut to commonly used spells (or defineable 'commonly used spells', at risk of bloating the HUD. ). Since all spellcasters has access to the same spells, sans essence, this should not be that problematic. I would also like to see 'outdated' spells either dis
Not sure you should expect that to change. Very few of the minor countries would realistically be able to match up with one of the great nations in the timespan in question. On another note, The Sims 3 is priced very sympathetically. (I know, it's a guilty pleasure of mine). It's NA only, unfortunately, but buying the entire series on Impulse costs roughly the same as buying one of the expansions on EA Store. Did I mention I really detest EA store? No? Well, I do.</p
After having read both Frogboy's post on the thread about Elemental's launch status and on Shacknews' rumor, I feel I have to say a few things. First of all, I have sympathy for Stardock and Frogboy. Brad can't have been the only one who saw no flaws in the wonderful baby ("It burps! How cute!"). Then to have it kicked and screamed at when shown to the world. ("Ewww! Kill it!"). I also note that it has very few critic reviews. (4 listed on Metacritic, none of which give it hig
Yeah, I use potions for that purpose myself, too. Anyway, after building a temple of essence I did notice that it does increase essence quite a bit. Useful; I guess that's a better way to get enough essence to cast summon fire giant and other high-cost spells. :) (In fact, enough so that possibly, high cost spells should cost quite a bit more...).
Thoughts and suggestions: 1: Spawns serve a purpose as a way to get XP without going into a full-fledged war (which may or may not be tougher.). As such, they are necessary. 2: When you do not want that, there should be a way to suppress it - I'm thinking put an army on patrol and its move radius will be a sort of 'secured' area where monsters can't spawn. Optionally, make some of the treasure areas places where monsters spawn, and you can choose to let them grow (and
I did get MH2 back at launch. It is now relatively bug free and stable with decent polish, but the Devs still have a lot of plans for it, so the entire question is, do you want to be along for the ride or skip straight to the destination? Either should be fun.
Well, it was a bit more than that, but if you didn't like it, fair enough.
I have raised bow damage quite a lot - Yithril sovereign with longbow is a fairly decent start, I think. As I use the warrior trait and start with a bit of strength, I have quite decent attack power even at low level, and an item or two that raise attack power (instead of strength) will give you more benefit from strength as well. The bow will never ever match a lord's hammer or anything like that, though, but considering that it's one of very few ways to attack wiithout retaliation, you can
In my current game, I have a couple of scenic views. I ended up in a war with Gilden, and figured, heck they've been beaten enough. I'll negotiate a peace treaty. 10 diplomatic capital equaled 2000 'weight points' on the scale (!). Later it was far less. I then noticed that the temple (tower?) of essence - in the info screen - said 50% increase in the normal description, but in the detailed one it said 4900%, which seemed a bit much. (Edit: The following is no longer tru
Syndicate (the original game) and Crusader: No Remorse were/are two of my all-time favourite games ever!
Crusader! Cool story, cool game, and you play a red-armored badass. What could be better? :D I agree, though, one of the best games of the era. One of - there were plenty of great games that were NOT either RTS or FPS then... developers were a lot more adventurous. .
I hope you like it. :) It's quite possible to like it, even love it, right now, but it should get better. Let us know how your first campaign goes, hm?
