Quick question: Spellcasting speed is based on wisdom. (1+10/Wisdom), in the tooltip. What is wisdom? You can increase it for a starting sovereign - it's what defines starting essence - but once you've started, increasing essence certainly doesn't help. Is there a way to increase it, or is it only possible to change it in sovereign creation?

Not going into which country or anything, but a country has a statistical life expectancy of 71-75 years, BUT an average age of 17.something years. The question is, how is it possible to reach such disparate numbers? With an average age that low, how can you get a reasonable assumption that you can live to 71-75 years of age? I can see that if you have a huge influx of young people, or a baby boom of 17 years and still going strong, but assuming that isn't the case... how?

In the manual, it states that marriage - given certain conditions (Basically, the same guy or gal is heir to both nations) - you can inherit control of both. Also, when someone is married off to another faction (champion is lost) the children of that union, when they grow to adulthood, are most likely to join you. But that's in the manual. (It's in the game folder). It may have been changed in a patch sometime or not implemented yet.

[quote]Thanks for testing this out! Did the size increase happen on the same turn or different turns? At any rate, that's ... odd. One hypothesis might be that linked resources don't change ownership once linked or there needs to be some sort of change in addition to 'lost' such as the first city building something to force a check. I assume you kept a copy of that game to play with (also, are you winning in it! ) Can you clarify what y

Unfortunately it was based off experience from an earlier game, not the one I'm currently in. I'll see if I can dig something up, but it'll be a while. If anyone else has useful observations of this phenomenon, go ahead. :) Edit: I wish this forum let us upload pictures directly instead of using random servers. :S Anyway, I built one city, and the resource in question was exactly 5 squares away from it. I built another city, also 5 squares (1,2,3,4,there.)

About point 6. Seriously. Frogbrad has come off as a fairly reasonable fellow consistently. If he can't post for fear of being quoted out of context, then our society is more messed up than I thought... well. I *think* it's that messed up, but it shouldn't be.

A quick question. I sometimes have a large city going. Some resources with the city's influence says it's linked with the city, some don't. (Meaning that the LL that is linked has 12 or so tech points, while the one that isn't has the normal 5. Is it because there's no city square within 4 of it? If not, how does that work? In advance, thanks. Great thread. :)

Things I've liked a lot are: More or less everything from Bioware. Supreme Commander 2 (With a nagging feeling the original was better) Empire+Napoleon Total War Mount&Blade: Warband Battlestations Midway/Pacific X3: Terran Conflict Divinity II - Ego Draconis Civ IV: BTS Company of Heroes Sins of a Solar Empire King's Bounty: Legend / Armored Princess Silent Storm Jagged Alliance MoM HoMM 3,5 Bord

Fantasy Wars and its sequels are probably some of the better turn based fantasy strategy games as of late, even though it is pretty difficult, and translated from russian. For new games, Disciples III is worth a look. Very gothic. gorgeous graphics. Strong limit on how many troops you can have with you, so having them work well together is important. It is not flawless, but it's not bad, either. There is a demo, you should check that one. I can safely second the recommendation

First, kill the christmas tree sovereigns - those with so much glowing magic things they look more like a christmas tree than a person. Make it impossible to stack items. You only get the effect from one ring of each type, or limit the overall amount of magical items, or both. Second: I do find organization very useful - useful enough that all my custom sovereigns has it. I don't stack things, though. But still, it's the only way to make it reasonable to do quests and such w

I did notice you could get one of each pack etc.... I Never did try to get MORE than one of each pack, ring etc. Some sort of restriction there would make sense, yes. Two medkits isn't usually better than one, for instance. Common sense. :D Two rings, one amulet, one or two packs.. that would be more 'standard' for the genre.

At least for empire, you need one of the conquest techs, whose name escapes me but you recognize it by seeing it has a settlement action. It's in the troop group / skill area.. Zeal? Something like that.

About groups: 1: There wil lbe a number of circle icons over the bottom part of the interface. This is the group. 2: If you move a unit into the sovereign's area, or a group, or move the sovereign onto a group, that will form a new group. 3: To split up units in a group, click on them so there's a small 'up-arrow' on the unit(s) in question. (Shift-click for more than 1). Right clicking anywhere will tell them to leave. 4: Using escape to deselect the group may

Actually, high level champions with 15+ stats in several areas has been 3:1 ratio of female to male so far with me. So a male soveregin should have better luck there. :)

I've been playing a ship battle game that is of some interest - Battlestations Pacific and Battlestations Midway. The controls are fairly pleasant, you can switch from capital ship to fighters to subs and even land bases. All the different ships - crusiers, destroyers, battleships - each has their role, and you have real old fashioned torpedo bombers and everything. Battlestations Pacific in particular is too arkady to be called a simulator though, and the multiplayer battles are

There's a level 2 fire spell - can't recall its name - but it does QUITE high damage. It has just two range. To increase spell damage, the main trick is to get mana shards. That spell I mentioned does int * 2 damage base. With two fire shards, that would be int * 2 * 3, or roughly 60 damage with minimum int. That should be enough for most normal uses - and it's a lvl 2 spell! The vigilant demon casts a spell that does 10 damage (fixed) to ALL enemies. It doesn't regen mana in

1: As SqueekyRat said. 2: The red and blue dots are only with towns; red is stationed / grouped units, blue are buildings. (So you can see at a glance what towns are overdue for a bit of upgrading, etc.). Edit: (Agh, annatar beat me to it)

It's a quick read. Found it myself and figured I should point it out - I think a lot of people used to steam would expect a link to the manual in either the game store page or the right click menu in impulse. Shortest way is to right click elemental in the 'my games' tab and select 'open application folder', it's right there. Anyway, I did learn a new thing or two, and the keyboard short cut list is useful,
