Yah there are the usual flags within the base and new flags right outside each set of side-towers. I wonder if those change allegiance of the towers or if they have some other buff and towers simply guard them...
Yeah, extra flags are confusing. Wonder what the purpose for those is? Also the portals and mines have been moved.
A lot of the focus and internal debate has been on how to further increase strategic depth of the game but without making the game too complex. Demigod's real strength, IMO, is that normal people can sit down and understand it very quickly. I think a lot of you know what I mean by that -- you get some friends together to play X and you spend the first hour trying to show them how the game is played. We want Demigod to be a gam
Wow if you look close, there are a ton of changes to the map.
And I apologize for taking a screenshot at such low resolution. It looks a lot nicer on real hardware.
No prob frogboy. Just happy to see more info. Wow, just noticed a minimap in the upper left . I didn't think it need it, but for those who have it, they are at the very least giving it a try.
Hell yeah, thanks for more news. Look like the upgrades are: health/first aid icon=healing upgrade for priests or total health upgrade shield icon=total creep unit health upgrade gold bars icon=mine gold income rate upgrade hammer icon=total creep unit weapon damage upgrade breastplate icon=total creep unit armor/defense upgrade portal icon=creep unit recruiting rate upgrade some skull thing icon=??? unit i
sigh..wonder what problems holding them up. Considering they hinted towards they could have had it done by wednesday last week haha...
From previous chat and some from above, it seems like they are trying to add features. So, they have internal deadlines and desires for the beta, as those are matching up closely, I think they are just adding to features. Also the lead designer is in London.
There's nothing preventing people from making mods. We're just not supporting it. As for additional Demigods, we plan for there to be free additional maps and Demigods. That doesn't preclude us from releasing more Demigods in a future expansion too of course.
Thanks for official word. This will hopefully dispel some of the misconception and general paranoia in a few posts on here (yes <a id="ctl00
Graaaaaah! I was looking forward to beta 2. >.>
Clearly, I was too. This little thread is my constructive way to release my frustration.
the next point i would like to know is how the possibilitys of creating mods for demigod will be? for example with a map editor similar to the map editor of warcraft 3 it should be easily possible to set up somethin releated to footmen or a map which comes up with direct RTS feeling by modding some parts of the game. such possibilitys keep wc3 alive since release, which was over 5 years back in time if im right...
I don't think
I would like to see this as well.
Updated info in OP.
What upsets me here is the quote that “There will be more demigods and arenas released as downloadable content after release, although no pricing or release details have been given as yet.” I thought early on that download content and updates were going to be free. However this sure looks like from the start pay 2 play. First we are a month behind on beta 2 still have no idea what the general are going to be. Now we have to pay
You can check my thread for info/rumors here for info on the release of beta 2. I'm excited to see the map mentiond: "We were particularly impressed with the level design: The prison was a huge crystal structure that encased a huge monster, and his eyes follow the camera as you pan around the action. " This sounds so awesome.
Hey all, I thought it was important to have info about DRM and update stances which I think are so importatn. Here is my letter, feel free to cut and paste if needed:
Brad Wardell, chief executive of Stardock, should be included for his commitment to quality games and his stance against DRM. In a time when publishers are increasingly forgetting that we are their customers and instituting draconian DRM that is quickly circumvented by pirates, but left t
Please bump so this makes it on the front page.
You might want to edit the post and let everyone know/remind them that frogboy=Brad Wardell, chief executive of Stardock.
..what about those of us who pre-ordered after the beta 1 deadline and are awaiting info..?
You will get in when beta 2 is released. You can check my thread for info/rumors here for info on the release of beta 2. Unfortunately, we all have to be patient.
I created a new post that should answer all your questions about getting into the beta and more, please go to my What New Beta Members Need to do to get the Beta thread. Hey all, For those of you not clear on this, this is not an official thread, of course. I am just looking to compile what we know into one big thread for people who are wondering on progress.
I might have to resharpen my pitchfork for beta 2 it IS coming by Thursday at least... right?
no it is not coming today, I am making a post in the beta forum section with info.
Would be nice if the Mino Captain, Siege Archer and High Priest would be unique to each General in terms of abilities and such.
Seems like doing things different for the sake of being different. I like the simplified, easy accessability of Demigod, with the complexity placed on the demigod abilities. Hopefully, we get a real look at this soon instead of just making guesses.
And said info strategy info will be in beta 2. This is beta 1 currently, there is still beta 2 and its multiple smaller patches and a possible beta 3. Beta 1 was just an engine test. Please calm down. If you want to rip the game wait until beta 2 or if you want to be really reasonable wait for the release to see what is and isn't included. We WILL see the strategy elements and generals in beta 2, as ealry as Thursday.
In that gamespot review it said commanders would all get the same set of units. It seems a pity that the customization isn't available there. I'd like to see either a unique set of units for each general, and/or the addition of units to the skill tree, so the generals can play as differently from eachother as the assasins.
Generals will get the same 3 recruitable/puchasable units, but they will get 1 unique unit each.
And wow. Single player campaign? I didn't even know that would be included when I pre-ordeded, just assumed it was multiplayer only.
I'm excited to play sp in demigod, I hope it is in the new beta 2 release. I am also very excited to see the persistant online metagame.
While 8 well-made Demigods are definitely better than 32 crap-laden balance night
Looks promising. Hopefully it's not all talk and no do, because singleplayer aspects are indeed overlooked these days. Also, shame that so little demigods are in the initial release, but I guess that'll improve over time... And beta 2 would be nice.
I really don't feel a reasonable number such as 8 demigods is small. In many games you have class types and that works just fine for multiplayer.
Definately needs to be addressed. I think they should go back to the original way too. Towers should last, it gives a great map control/defense method, and allows a slow rook to be in one area without worrying too much about another. If not, his speed limits the distance he can move from the citadel when original towers have decreased.
