How far back? Only to 1.17? If so, ask your favorite mod maker to do a Vanilla version for your version of Sins. I think 1.17 and 1.03 are structurally the same, but earlier versions there were file differences, things that were moved or added or updated in the newer versions that make going back a manual re-coding of all those files, a lot of work. Anyway, ask who ever makes your favorite mod to consider converting it. Also, check out the cool earlier mods for other versions at

That would save me so much work!!!!! :) -TeaL
:) Whew!!!! That is alot. :) It will be a entity files editor? Sounds very very cool!! :) Let me know when you have it ready! -Teal
ok I have been reading here on the forums trying to get ahold of how to tweak my game to my taste. I have seen a couple things and have some questions. 1) I created a mod folder and made a subfolder called "GameInfo" (without quotes) in there with the edited .entity files. it did not work and gave a minidump upon trying to load the mod. I have Sins 1.17 and entrenchment 1.03 but was only doing stuff with the sin
I was working on a way to figure out Annatar's delima to get custom names for a 4th race in the game, when i was just about out of ideas, so i took a break, and had another idea! :) Most of my mini mods are idea mods anyway, they arent really epic or game changing or complete make-overs, haha, well... most of them aren't, but had an idea about the Vasari having a civil war, perhaps some two or three generations after the "Incident" where the Vasari culture splinters into factions
:) Very Nice!! Looks to be even more fun!! -Teal
:) Very very very Cool!!!!! Harpo!!!! :) Which of course means that we can add names of our own, but the drawback of course is that we cant yet figure out how to get names for new races which are exclusive to them. :( Well... win some lose some, or well.... haha, win some and so far a draw on the second... i dont want to admit failure when we havent had the devs say it cant be done. :) I wonder if i could make a batch file, haha, that is a
:) Well, the hacking the exe is really probably imoral and not too cool to the devs, and it is really beyond me anyway, so that was more frustration than anything talking. But I appreciate your help Harpo. I was wondering if the name list is generated randomly or if it always picks the first name first. If so, could we simply append our custom list of names after the first 30 for phase and designate the ship to start with that? I'm really grasping at straws here, but tho
Tripularity, The latest version is 1k i believe. Ive been working on other mods and havent gotten back to this one for a while, but go to filefront and you will find a 1(something), i think like i said 1k is the highest. -Teal
:) I suppose im sometimes a bit obsessed by all of this, haha, but have been working along the lines you mentioned, just to see if i could find a reference SOMEWHERE, for the capitalshipnametype. Somewhere we haven't looked yet. I thought perhaps that renaming the meshes, and the textures of a single ship, or perhaps one of the files in the base install folder has a reference for the capitalshipnametype? Like when files aren't listed in Entrenchment, but they pull from the base
StarFire is a "Mod", there is NO OVERWRITING FILES. the path for Vista is: C:\Users\COMP NAME HERE\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ inside that folder will be a MOD folder for 1.05 Vanilla mods a MOD 1.03 folder for Enterenchment mods And a MOD 1.17 folder for the Vanilla 1.17 mods. For XP use: C:\Documents and Settings\**YOUR_USERNAME**\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins
:) Glad to hear it. Let us know when you've posted it! I would love to give it a go. -Teal
Have been playing a lot of the balance mods the last few days, very very interesting, it looks like we are headed in the right direction. :) I would love to see the community rally behind one or all of them, they seem well thought out, and put together well, and they do change the game into a more evenly handed way. But today i thought i would take a break from that and get back to a little modding of my own. I took a clean copy of Entrenchment folders and have wanted to c
:) Thank you Silveressa. -Teal
:) Looks very very interesting, i look forward to downloading the mod and looking at how it plays. Most of my experience however is with single player and may not be applicable to how many play in multi-player, but it will be interesting to see. :) I play mostly Advent, though lately Tec more often, and Vasari on occasion, but it will be interesting to see how one races strengths are countered by anothers, or how one races weaknesses are exploited by the others. Keep
Just a quick question, I play single player mostly, have only been able to play perhaps half a dozen games since i got the game a few weeks ago, but my question is does the patch also change those items in the single player mode, or only while online? -Teal edit and p.s. : I didnt really notice any problems with the game at all in single player. So i thought these might be multi-player fixes.
:) Sounds very promising!! :) I would like to give it a try when you finish. :) Or if you want, perhaps i can help test, although my play style is a bit medium, so what i have to offer may not be up to what you need for multi-player. I solo most of the time, play advent almost exclusively, but have wandered into tech for a bit, enjoy them, vasari have played very little, but i really really enjoyed the returning armada. :) -Teal &nb
Good work Mind's Eye, a good balanced mod holding to original is a well worth the effort, i haven't dl your mod yet, but look forward to it. If this balances nicely, and you look to know what to balance and it should, then even for single player games the enjoyment factor should go up. Will dl tonight and let you know. :) Thanks for the great work so far! :) -Teal
I am not really a tactical player, and only of medium skill that gets in over my head pretty quick with larger maps and with more than 2 enemies, however, i am a file tweaker, and have looked at the lf's and the lrf's or lrm's whichever, and it seems to me that each is positioned as a specialist in something else. What i mean is the light frigates appear to me as support ships, low firepower, not intended for heavy use, but, then again, when we first start a game they are all that is
Hi, Forever War is a mod i wanted at minimum change. In lots of the mini's i have put together in the past i wanted to change different things. In this one, i wanted to change as little as possible. So Forever War is stock Entrenchment 1.03, except for 2 things, 1. I added my XLarge Planets. :) I am rather fond of them :) 2. I wanted some sort of ... you know... saving switch,
hi, im not much of a tactician, but i am a file tweaker, and what you are saying about layering damage as the range increases, so that the illum has its most powerful damage at its peak range is interesting. I am trying to think how to achieve that. I will have to look at the surrounding entries in the ship file and even perhaps in the ability file. Off the top of my head i cant think of a, no that is not true, you said decaying... that may be the key there, to find some way to decay
i bought this two weeks ago as a vacation present, haha, and have played half a dozen or so games, it looks interesting and gets into the action very very quick, and i love the levels and new abilities as you go up in rank. Good to hear the demo is out, maybe i can convince some friends to join for some games. -Teal
Good to hear the news! I cant test it, haha, well... no, im on vacation and only get online a little in the evening, but still, glad to hear the cool news, looking forward to seeing the new site!! :) -Teal
someone tell me what beats few guardians few flak and assload of illuminators? NOTHING
A Modded ship or fleet!! :) -T
I wouldn't call myself a modder, more like a file tweaker, but i agree that modding is a way for any of us to change the game, within our ability to do so. For me raising or lowering outright weapon damage, there is also the subject of timing, and how often a weapon or an ability re-fires. Raising and lowering shields or armor, or mitigation, raising or lowering culture percent rate. There is also concentration for each race. Do i increase the phase abilities for the Vasari? Raise the
