Just curious. Lets say I have a binary planetary system. If you put two planetary objects close to one another, they simply adjust the X/Y/Z coordinates and appear above or below one another. But how, if at all possible, would you go about actually linking the two gravity wells so that you could travel between them without a hyper jump? I am thinking in terms of actual travel. Earth and moon aren't that far from one anot

Hello, this goes out to Goa and the DS team and stars teams. If I could have the bulk of DS, the extra stuff for E4X, and the extra research and artifacts/upgrades from Stars, I would be so happy. However, getting these all to meld together is likely to be quite a task. Willing to do it all myself for myself of course, as I highly doubt any of you would appreciate me "releasing" it. <span

I've been thinking of changing the advent planetary bombardment weapon to a long range laser beam. I'm curious to see how that might work. Suddenly FOOM LAZOR BEAM. If Rebellion were to start working, I'd change to to a planet killer equivalent to the Vasari "eat planet" ability using their battleship's beam as the imagery, but no resource gain. Of course, I'd have to change a lot more for it to make sense. I have yet to see the Advent cultur

Figured it out. If you want something ON or BEHIND the hyper limit, it has to be in very low digits. nearPlacementDistOffset 0.000000 Must be a positive number (or build in the planet) farPlacementDistOffset -3000.00000 You must have a negative number to be behind the hyper limit. It's sort of backwards. I thought that the far distance placement started from the planet's atmosphere. Quite the opposite. It starts at the

That had an interesting effect. Planet move radius 50000 Planet Hyperspace radius 30000 Initially changed the module radius to 50000. Makes it implacable. Tried cutting it down to 29500, thinking that maybe the game is hard coded to not do that. Still implacable. :p Derp.

I've checked ability planet, buff planet and planet entity files on this. Change the hyper radius, and the build radius changes. Change the move radius and the build radius does not change. There has to be something somewhere that locks them into each other... is this hard coded maybe? edit... checking into that. thanks

Editing the entity files... Managed to make the "one planet challenge" world I was trying to make forever ago. Almost easy once you know wtf you're doing. One thing that has evaded me is to get structures to build on the hyper limit. There doesn't seem to be a "build space radius" I want my defense structures ON the hyperspace limit. edit: also learned, don't %!*( with pira

Hey DS team. I have a possible balance issue. I was playing Vasari against 5 unfair AI's. Two Tec, Two Advent, One Vasari (This is Diplomacy DS) Had my ass kicked handily for a while (two TEC's allied with each other then stabbed each other in the back after destroying everyone else, apparently). It took hours, but after being beaten back to four planets I managed to take one after another with the fleet of fightery doom. (Never had a game where I had all 32 ca

Originally, the only no research worlds were the homeworlds. They never colonized any other planets. Just sat with one and beat on each other with light frigates. At one point, I tossed a couple of Marzas into a battle between three factions, each throwing 50+ frigates into the mix. It was sad. I've gone so far as to switch the AI to unfair. Still won't colonize.

Shivans. Gotta be. Makes sense, if you follow the canon on Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius and the cut scenes in Freespace. The Shivans are the great destroyers/preservers. They bring balance. Vasari are war like, aggressive (look what they did to Terran space). Totally Shivans. >.>;

Ok. Changed the startup layout. Asteroid --> Homeworld --> Military Planet -->Deep Space +-->Volcanic +-->Ice +-->terran All of the AI's still ignore volcanic and ice.

I watched My Little Pony with my four year old. I found it no wonder that the demographic that loves it is males between 21 and 35. There's an awful lot of jokes that are geared towards that group. If anything, it gave my daughter and I a bonding moment. She loves that show. I however, am by no means a brony. Having said that, I still find this idea humorous.

No, only one planet for each AI was set up as home. The other was just set up as 'owned.' I'll try the asteroids next. I'll move the homeworld behind the military world and an asteroid off of it for deadend.

Did that. Changed all home worlds to Desert Home. They still only colonized the random terran worlds I threw around. One AI went half way across the map to colonize a terran world and completely ignored the City, military, volcanic, and ice worlds that were right freaking there.

Harpo--yes. I had only the initial "random home world" at the beginning. 2-3 hours in, I had 8-15 planets and they were running only on their home world. Giving them the second world was an attempt to give them more space for their orbitals. Next thing I'm going to try is making all homeworlds terran or desert. @ Xathos, No. Not too much 'crap.' The entire premise of the map is that there are essentially 17 factions.

I create "The Great Pinwheel." 143 gravity wells, About 80 actual planets. Each startup location was changed so that the rear line military world is a startup location for each player. So each player starts with two planets. I thought doing this would help the AI with space on their research labs because they weren't doing the research to inhabit the volanic and ice worlds that were RIGHT THERE. 2 hours into the game, they have only colonized one planet each--a ter
