That"s the reason I don't allow people to ruin my enjoyment of this game(Single player only).
I can't speak for everyone who plays MP but I think it speaks volumes for how much more enjoyable it is than SP that I'm willing to deal with trolls, crashes/mini-dumps, and sometimes long wait times for games rather than play SP as an alternative. I'm honestly not trying to diss you for you playing it - I mean this more in th

I've lost patience with not naming people now - definitely adding Kbroke on that list - too many times now he's dragged games out and refused to quit when his whole team has left. He maxes out mines to make the game lag, goes afk, refuses to answer, and hopes a mini-dump will "save him".
Works for me - it should take you to a page saying Thank you for downloading....click here if your download doesn't start automatically.
Cool - thanks for signing on Carpet and Greg. Most of the mentees signing up in this thread that I've added and talked to seem mostly interested in just getting into online games with someone they can ask for advice when needed rather than doing "practice" games, which makes sense given most people would probably just rather jump into real games with their time. I wanted to add the suggestion for anyone wanting advice to post a replay in this thread as well. It's a fast w
Don't forget the Eradica. The Eradica is probably the game's strongest titan.
It's the strongest vs. fleet/ships but I'm pretty happy with how the Coronata got buffed into more of a debuffer/Titan-Cap killer with Unity Mass-Suppression being a nice combo of passive and active abilities. I still think if Wail gets a significant nerf, the Loyalists will be the superior faction.
Honestly I'd rather just see the convert chance bumped up to 7.5-8%- whether you keep convetered ships or not, removing 7.5-8% of the frigates in the enemy fleet makes a fairly noticable difference even if the enemy only needs to pull back from an attack only once.
Just bein' picky, but you're talking about two different kinds of 7-8%s there. 7-8% chance to convert is totally different to stealing 7-8% of his flee
Personally I think Advent Loyalists are superior to the Rebels except for Wail. That's a big exception though. Wail is such a great defensive weapon that it makes all the difference. If wail gets nerfed though...the only other Rebel techs I like are the ship clone/ship resurrection ones that give you free ships from owned and enemy ones. Fury of the Unity and Ancient Retribution are both good choices now to buff your late game fleet. I still think Global Unity is too high at tier5 fo
Bombers are fine. They're not that difficult to counter as long as you have scouted properly and are prepared. Your nerfs would make them completely useless or far too easily countered at earlier stages of the game. Kol Flak burst is not intended to counter late game bomber spam. Choose your fights wisely. Capitals in general should avoid those fights unless they are high level enough and backed up properly (repair bays, guardians, flak, certain abilities, phasic trap, etc.). You can
^This one was unusual (and a nice change) in that 3/5 Advent were Loyalist. Good to see Loyalist Titans flexing their Unity Mass muscles.
Here's the replay of the 2nd game from Carpetbomb's stream so you can check out the rest of the action on the map at your leisure. http://www.2shared.com/file/0v-DmwKI/AutoRecord-09202013.html Some Wails, Red button, and good 3 way full fleet clashes. Rare game where players spawned 5 to each side, with no suicide spots. The other team really did get screwed for planets on their side
Hi GreenLing - at the very least, if you used to be good at the game and want to get back into it, I'd suggest just hopping on ICO most evenings and joining 5v5 games. They'll usually accept at least a couple new players with no record, especially if you tell them you played in Diplomacy and are just now returning. Appreciate you adding yourself as a mentor for new players to contact too. Hopefully see you online soon.
Psycho917, I'll check once I'm home for your steam add and see if we can get some games in over the weekend. I think you're just an hour or two ahead of me. Gonzip - I'd suggest adding Red Ruby from this thread as he's in Europe so it'd be easier to play with him. Just ignore Mr. Nightraid3r - he's feeling lonely and engaging in attention-seeking behavior again (or, alternately, email him if you're into that sort of thing).
The problem with a vidcast is that it takes a lot of editting, so unless it was a particularly unusual game (a second Pros versus modders or a best of game the pros game) no one is going to be willing to do that.
I haven't done one so I don't know how much effort it takes but they do get produced fairly regularly in other RTS games.
How do you set the icons to stack? I had seen this on a couple streams but couldn't find an option for it in game.
On the Empire Tree that scrolls up and down the left side of the UI. It's the top right button. Some people may have preferences to keep them unstacked. There are cases where you'll want to select individual ships rather than groups of the same ship (a single corvette to scout, a guardian to use repulse one
I enjoyed the music, maybe I didn't convey that well. Much better than the hip-hop-pop in the other streams. Not sure if "pin" is the right phrase about the frigates - stack? This is more of an aesthetic thing when you're watching - they take up a lot of the screen otherwise.
I appreciate Yarlen showing support but I also have hesitations about a banlist being abused. I also think it's something just best self-policed by game hosts. I'd rather see Stardock's efforts put elsewhere rather than worrying about ICO trolls.
The song at 1:40ish fits Sins pretty well but I think Irish music goes with TEC more than Advent generally - especially good with Marzas. The obesity and mucous congestion commericals gotta go though....lol. Also, for the love of god man, pin your frigates!!
What Goa said.
In all my years of playing RTS games, it probably ranks #1 as most difficult thing to balance I've seen. This is because it can be everything from a null factor to game changing depending on the game and map and because it penalizes at the same time as rewards.
Well, if it's just about people who refuse to quit and drag the game out, I can only think of 2 or 3 regulars who do that when they are feeling testy. Newish players sometimes do it because they don't realize that they have lost and aren't able to judge properly that they have absolutely no chance. I'm less likely to be annoyed with them as it's not intentionally being trolly. So...I guess it's just up to the regular hosts to exert some pressure and see if that makes a
I think the online community is too small to really "do" much about the trolls. Last night was a good example as you know Sel - there we were, playing with some infamous ones because it was taking too long to fill a game without them. Plus the fact that names can be changed makes it a little harder to identify sometimes. There are really two options - allow them, tolerate them, deal with it. Or be serious about encouraging all hosts to boot them and just be more patient in waiting f
Here's 3 new games of late: http://www.2shared.com/file/zrnqTeXk/Three_Games_of_Sins.html Wails of a Solar Empire Featuring a lot of AR doing their thing. It was interesting how people did or did not adapt to the planet layout and wail. In some cases, you just can't "adapt" because you're too disadvantageously hemmed in. The game is quite long and features some high l
Going to Steam was a potentially good move - stores and physical copies are rapidly going obsolete - just the way movie rental and music stores have disappeared. Steam brings in a huge new audience. There's 3 million people online as I'm typing. Rebellion doesn't have enough of a MP side to it to retain them for long though and most people I know using Steam are into the MP side of games for the most part. Out of 34 friends on steam who bought Rebellion, only 13 sti

What does the switch in decimal places herald? From past experience in other games, going from something like 1.03 to 1.04 means just simple data/stats changes while a jump to 1.1 would mean something like more substantial coding changes.
