Marza is okay but pales against Sova, Akkan, and Corsev.
I see quite a few Tec players go for Marza actually in a frontline spot. I'm guessing the reason is purely for Missile Barrage at lvl 6 and for the better planetary bombing to steal planets from you early game (this is really effective actually, been on the receiving end enough). I think some players even buy a level or 2 on them in order to get to 6 faster. [quote

Haha - not sure if any 12 year old girls play online - somehow I doubt it but you never know... I always turn super weapon autocast off. It's rarely going to fire on the planet you want it to. Homeworlds, worlds you are about to attack, worlds where Advent Rebels might be able to use Wail of the Sacrificed from, these are all top priorities. Capital Ship ability autocast is also good to generally turn off. I'll turn on certain ones in the middle of battles to autocast
The only hotkeys I use are Ctrl + 1,2,3 for Capital Ships and Titan, spacebar to centre on whatever planet you select from zoomed out and then Capslock or Z to zoom in to view what's going on around that planet. Like Goa said, there isn't much point in Ctrl hotkeying various ship types as you can just Alt + select one ship from Empire Tree or in the gravity well to select all of one type when you need to. I strongly recommend hotkeying your Caps and Titan though as it allows you to qu

But why do you suck at this point? What is the problem? Are you not choosing and microing battles well and losing that way? Are you not investing in your economy once you've established your position? Are you not researching enough military upgrades? It's hard to help much with such little informat
Another replay here: http://www.2shared.com/file/bTBpuuVe/AutoRecord-10071843.html This is all about Starbases this game. The main interesting fights are JakeMac vs. Aquia (Advent vs. Vasari), CarpetBomb vs. Howthe? (Advent vs. Vasari) and myself vs. Bombshell (Advent vs. Advent). Eros and Archa are in a stalemate most of the game and the other 2 are eco slots. There is quite a bit of of
Lol - man you are really personally invested in this thread. Do you notice how not a single MP regular agrees that this would be a good balance idea? Does that not tell you anything? I usually play Advent and have faced plenty of my fair share of good Vasari players using SBs. It is annoying and cheesy but can be countered - and yes, bombers work as long as you see the SB rush coming. Bombers expensive you say? SBs are really expensive too. 2 carriers for 6 bombers&nb
I've kind of avoided posting my thoughts on this topic so far in order to think about it more but really, sorry Carpet, I think it's a terrible idea. You didn't really respond to concerns about Red Button and Meteor Swarm other than to say "oh that's late tech expensive stuff and Vasari has AOE too". There are already early game advantages for TEC and Advent (better eco, better ships, 2 lab carriers for Advent) to mitigate moving SBs at least somewhat. The main reason tho
It used to be viable before STTC was nerfed. It was so powerful that it meant the VL player could 1v2 and roll around like a swarm of locusts without much trouble in the hands of a good player. I don't think it's as viable now though. Most VL players prefer to hold on to their planets and only strip enemy ones or only if they really need the resources. I'm sure there are still some games where the VL player refuses to quit and can keep up a hit and run for quite a while thoug
Ill be free on the weekend for the most part if you need another player - Sel, Brain, and Sareth all have me on steam so just ping me if you need an extra person. I'm PST - probably won't be up until 10AM on Saturday though.
Yarlen, don't take this the wrong way, but I wouldn't count fixing bugs/performance issues/crashes as adding any new MP features. It is good support but not related to advertising the game as having enhanced MP features. So really, as near as I can tell, just Steam friends integration was added, along with new UI graphics for the races. Functionally, it is identical to Diplomacy, other than Steam friends. New maps came after release as well though, which is great. Am I missing anythin
Why is it attention is only given to multiplayer after everyone leaves because it is unpolished/broken? This happened in regular sins and you let it happen again in rebellion.
Because he liked the sound of Rebellion 1.2: the MP Reunion.
I used envoys and pacts once in MP - I think it was with Howthe? many months ago. I've kind of forgotten they exist since then. I like how the AI uses them immediately upon a player dropping. Helps you to keep track of who dropped and who hasn't. On serious note, I think they could find their way into MP on a minimal investment 1 or 2 envoys/ 1 or 2 pacts kind of level in some games. I honestly do just forget that they are there at all.

This seems like the appropriate thread to talk about a funny game I just had. JakeMac, reputed nephew of HuyMac, was claiming AL are OP due to his uncle teaching him that Suppression reduces incoming damage by ~50%. Due to AR Wail, this group of 10 intrepid players was allowing VR. Harla was the VR player on the other team so I thought, why not, I've never even played Vasari period online so this seems like a good time to start. I'll admit my nearest 2 opponents were both noobs so I w
These replays are out of date now - they were from before 1.04 patch so they'll be unwatcheable even if you manage to download them. The tips are still good of course for anyone having trouble using that site for more recent replays.
My experience of 1v1 so far (far fewer games than 5v5) is that it is most likely to turn into a stalemate with fleet, Titan, and Starbases camped at chokepoints. 1v1 random map usually has 1, maybe 2 chokepoints and the game is 100% about securing those first. Novaliths, Wail, and Vasari jumping then win the game. Culture comes in as distant 4th factor. 5v5 seems more dynamic.
Well, to be fair, MS's advice was fine if you are playing vs. AI with pirates on, although I agree on the KoL part and too much static D even for vs. AI.
dumbs game down to mindless carrier spamming
Wasn't carrier spamming an issue before Rebellion as well?
Survivability too high at levels past 4-5.
Yes, survivability does rocket up a lot here. Level 1-2 are not hard to kill though.
They're easy to rebuild.
Depends. They are harder now than earlier patches due to increase cost with each level. They're noticeably more expensive once they have a few
I'm using the same name but am in a totally different time zone and usually only play evenings. Some of the other Euro players might be on more when you are. Feel free to add any mentor on steam if that makes it easier to check for games happening or ask questions.
Any chance of an ETA or change log yet Yarlen?
If I remember right in the "fast expansion" game he didn't use any ships other than 5-6 scouts with his Progen for most of the expansion. He was also sitting on 40,000 credits by the end and didn't seem to feed or spend it on enough. I agree though that the game isn't that hard to pick up if you are used to RTS MP, read the forums, and watch replays. So Cameron, are you a new player or a vet smurfing with a new account? It's a bit deceiving to constantly maintain your record a
Played some games tonight with "Stranger" on my team. Ask Eros about him lol... Here is one in fact. Carrier Mobility is quite funny too. He lost 1, soon to be 2 capital ships, and his entire fleet of 60+ corvettes suicided on my defense vessels but he still thinks he's winning somehow...anyway, watch from Stranger's point of view and you can see he micros his battles quite impressively. http://www
I'd like to know who Brando is - he's got like 30 games played and I only saw him recently on ICO but he's friends with a lot of old time Sins pros. Hmmm....the plot thickens.
Do the devs (AKA manatees in a pool) even fkn play this game?
Blair Fraser, Ironclad chief, mentioned yesterday in a Reddit talk about Sins of a Dark Age that he recently went onto ICO to play Sins and got stomped. It was cool to hear he still plays it online like that at times - I'm curious if he hopped into one of the 5v5 games. He also said he plans to play Sins of a Dark Age in MP as well and expects to get stomped. Also
