I just bought this game while it was one sale. Hopefully the patches frogboy speaks of will materialize sooner rather than later.
I think that "Demigod'ing" a game should be a term that enters GPG's lexicon, as in: "Let this game be the only one we will have ever Demigod'd."

I'm not talking about in general, when it's still not always so easy to see what enemy demigods are doing. I'm talking about when you have a billion creeps surrounding you and, say, an enemy Oak who tends to blend in with the creeps. It's impossible to tell when they are casting or what they are doing, and sometimes it's difficult to see even that they are there at all. Anyone else experience this problem? And what do you do about it?
1) With Lady Procerpinee as the hero, upon leveling, her health regen stayed at 0 even when points were added to it. 2) She later on got the two ebbenwolves from the wolf cave quest. Upon saving this game, exiting Elemental, and then loading the game, the ebbenwolves' portraits did not display. Their card pictures were also absent.

the Xbox 360 tops out at 512MB and it has to share that with video textures Wow... seriously? I had no idea... Now I'm quite a bit miffed that PC games have been ham-strung to accommodate consoles :p But I'm glad that you recognize this and are going back to actually making PC games solely for the PC, bravo! (Too bad that pirates have made PC games too unprofitable for most mainstream companies to do this :'()
In the future, MAKE YOUR PORTCULLISES BIG ENOUGH FOR GIANTS TO PASS THROUGH BEFOOOOOORE SUMMONING THEM TO BATTLE!
^ ^^ This person has rightly made amends for causing unwarranted forum drama and should be thanked for it. Doesn't mean they should get a cookie. If they had done the right thing in the first place, they wouldn't be getting a reward :p
True, DG's characters are not in a good state of balance. However, these imbalances become even more severe in 1 v 1 play, as this game was really designed around 3 v 3+ teams. Just wanted to make that clear. Secondly, perhaps it would be best to stipulate at in the game's title that you don't want the opponent to pick UC or LE in order to avoid this sort of grief in the future, rather than unproductively whine about it on the forums. M
So is posting all of these screenshots actually productive, or...? They'll all get lost in the shuffle unless one is willing to go through 37+ pages of the thread and note who all has been accused of doing what.
So. It's been a very long while since I returned the game shortly after open beta, simply because the netcode flaws made it impossible for me to connect to anyone. Then I saw the $10 for DG dealy on Impulse, and I had to pounce on the deal, seeing that the netcode has almost certainly been fixed by now. I installed the game from my pre-order limited edition, got patched up, and was good to go. It was late at night, so there were no games to connect to (well, I briefly
your graphix card sucks bro, running a game usen dual monitors will slow down the pc too.
I actually have 512 MB of VRAM. Also, my card doesn't "suck"... it's far better than even the recommended one. And again, this was a bug that had to do with sound slowing DG down on certain systems for some reason. This problem has been taken care of with a patch.
Look at Dawn of War 2. The game has been out for over 3 months and they still haven't gotten match making down properly. The lobby is non-existing (doesn't even have a refresh button. you have to wait until it decides to refresh), people are constantly matched against players that out-rank them despite the team's claim that you should be getting matched against equal ranked players, the AI is piss-poor (the last patch helped but it still needs a
Well, that's it. I haven't been able to play DG for over 2 weeks. It's time to confirm my 75% refund. I'll be spending that money towards Elemental. See you in a couple months.
I can connect to most people, but my pings are 400-900+, so it's still unplayable. I could play DG with GameRanger, but now all the legit games are most all gone. I'm really getting fed up with this. Soon, I'm going to demand my money back if proxy servers are not up. I've only been patient because it seems like you guys are making a good-faith effort, but it's starting to feel like incompitence now.
My pings are around 2 seconds now.
Knowing that something has been done, somewhere, by someone, isn't enough when you're trying to replicate it in your own code; for something this complicated, even if you know in general terms what they did and have skills in the broad area of networking, there are always a million (*) little things that the people who wrote it ran into, fixed, and then probably forgot about, all of which you'll have to stumble over and learn on your own.[
While the opposing team is attacking my citadel, for the next 3 minutes before I lose I rage-AFK. Am I doin it right? [e digicons]>_>[/e]
client-server is O(n) p2p is O(n^2) the advantage of p2p is that it basically crowd-sources network infrastructure so you can get it operating very cheaply compared to building a big enough server infrastructure to host 200,000 simultaneous users. the issue with crowd-sourcing anything (and p2p is no exception) is just one of compatibility. everybody has slightly different stuff. its incredibly difficult to
That was fairly obnoxious. Brad and co. are putting in a tremendous amount of work to get things fixed, to be sure, and I laud them for it. But the guy's got a right to be complaining, and if his friend bought Demigod on his recommendation, he kind of owes it to him to be the one passing along updates. I quite like Stardock, and I love Demigod, but I was in a very similar situation. Unt
Hopefully proxy servers will be up soon ;_;
Im so sick of everyone whining about effort. LEARN TO FOWARD PORTS ON YOUR ROUTER. This is probably your biggest problem with connections.
Hard to forward ports on my router if I have absolutely no control over my router.
Oi, so using a "/nosound" tag did increase my sim speed. It is now normally at around 7 or 8. I'll send an email to Stardock as they requested informing them that DG's sound is giving me performance issues. I sure hope that they fix this so that I can listen to the glorious thunderous voice declare "SMITTER" and what not. So... sorry for cluttering the Tech Support forum needlessly with another thread :p
Thats actually paints a very cool image, and I agree with your comment about it being a little boring - I was really just aiming for something unique and very different from what GPG have already put into the game.
Well in that case, we could have more All-Father bestiality, alla the Unclean Beast :-P
Color coding would definitley help, as would giving the text something to make it stand out.
This isn't a good idea for the reason given above: the maps are desgned around tower placement and range. It's sufficient to be able to upgrade tower damage.
Supposedly, Pantheon has a match making service to help prevent this from happening. In custom games, of course you can just talk to the other team or join/make "n00b only" games. On the other hand, getting steamrolled on occaision is not neccesarily a bad thing, as one can learn from such an experience. I know I have.
