NO! We do not want kickass heroes. I've been playing a new game called Guardians of Graxia and that game shows well how heroes should be built and how powerful they should be. It's a game that you can lose your hero/guardian easily enough if you don't take care of it but it's still powerful enough to do a lot more damage than regular troups. It has specials and bonuses for each turn. Perfect example of how heroes should be in any game. So I really hope Brad et all don't go rev
I jumped in at 1.08 and was aware of the problems. I'd urge Stardock to increase the price of Elemental every time they improve (not FIX, but improve) the game. I mean, why not? Top
I AGREE 100%

I don't agree as I like lots of cities in my games. It was possible in MOM though there was a 3 square rule which was fair and I enjoy MOM very much. So, continue with the large amounts of cities on the map and be sure the AI continues to spam/build them also. I don't want to have to play with a handful of cities as that gets boring. In all the Civilization, Alpha Centauri, GalCiv2 and Master of Magic I always have tons of cities to play with. I get settlers out as fast as I can. Heck I even
The first AOW was definitely the best one for all around game and challenge. It didn't come with a random map or scenario generator though and that put it far down on the list. Finally when AOW:SM came there was a random generator but sadly they had changed the mechanics of the game and the ai is terrible compared to the first one. They took away options that made the first one great also like being able to take your leader/wizard off the map and playing a game of conquer the entire map. The
If only AOWSM had someone like Brad doing the AI. It's also too bad you couldn't get Reactor and AOWSM MP working together, that would have been nice also (but most likely impossible) I really wonder now what would happen if Stardock and Triumph worked together on AOWIII using the Elemental Engine with Brad doing the AI.
It wouldn't be AOW III it would be Elemental II.
Civ V and Elemental are really too different to compare.
They are? Let's see how really different they are? 1. They both start out with a unit to settle the first city? yep sure do sovereign in Ele and Settler in Civ 2. They both build settler/pioneer type units to create new cities? yep sure do. 3. They both research new technologies to increase their power? yep sure do. 4. They both build new structures based on new technologies and dis
One question though Brad how can you consider this game a commercial disaster when you've already sold 80,000 copies? I bet Matrixgames would love to sell 80,000 copies of something. Plus I'll betcha a plug nickel right now once you get the game up to par that word of mouth will increase sales even more. Of course I already tell people how great it is. ;)) My real only request is that you add some bright colors to the map and characters as it's just too gothic dark right now. It's like it's w
Heroes of might & magic 3&4 i think it was 3 w/expansion that was one of the better ones i think 5 blows
Actually it was version 4 that blows and that's when they got bought out not the 5 version. Plus it was versions II & III that are the best not 3&4. I personally like version II the best I like the large graphics and I like the way you can setup the AI before the game starts. Many different settings instead of just a handful of diffuclty levels like I
but there is nothing "war-game" about Kings or HoMM.
Well that's your opinion and not agreed upon by the majority of players. It has a very wargamey feel to it. Tactical battles and spell casting during just like a Master of Magic game. I guess you want to say it's not wargamey either? The war is taking over the world map, there are battles to do this. Just like any war there is a strategic purpose and a tactical one and HOMM and Kings has both.
Quoting psychoravin, reply 246 Well in all fairness when War of the Lance came out it had JOYSTICK support. haha But, yes a 21 year old game will require you to play using the KEYBOARD (oh my sacreligious one has to use the keyboard to play a game). I grew up using keyboard only or joystick and keyboard so it's no issue for me. But, todays gamer is a LAZY gamer and doesn't want to use the keyboard anymore except for hotke
Well HOMM combat is more like chess using rock paper scissors method and Civ combat is like checkers and too much luck factors. I still remember those days when spearmen from caveman age took out tanks and archers took out battleships. That has to be the worst combat engine around.
Waiting 1 month isn't a long time to wait for another patch. I'd be happy with 1 month patches myself. You should get Paradox games where you wait years for a patch that finally fixes the games.
I bought Elemental CE or LE whatever you want to call it because of the many months of pleasure I got out of GalCiv 2 series. I NEVER pay $80 for anything game wise but I did Elemental because I trust Brad et al will make it as great if not greater than GC2 eventually. I already know EVERY game released is going to have issues. How they can give Civ V in the 90's on reviews just pisses me off though as it hardly rates in the 90's with the problems it has on release. I think Eleme
I don't see the point in going back to build the same building over and over again as population increases, when you could just increase the production of one building in proportion to population. And i don't think that demolishing buildings to build units sounds fun.
I suppose you never played Monopoly then an enjoyed one of the greatest games of all time. I can't remember the countless times I built houses and then had to remove them and then build them again lat
I've been reading posts from Civfanatics of CIV V burning up video cards like SC II. This doesn't bode well for 2k games or CIV V. Getting Elemental even with its little flaws is not as bad as Civ V now. Besides the Civ games have been done to death. At least Elemental is new an innovating and in a years time you won't even know it and maybe even "multiplayer" will be in the game by then. "_)) I'll get Civ V just like I did Civ IV when all the expansions and the "complete" gameset are $7.99 a
Also, I really want them to stay away from GalCiv2 design because GalCiv2 is excruciatingly boring.
Well Brad that statement right there should keep you away from anything lordebonstone has to input. He will never be satisfied about anything unless it's what HE wants and nothing else. GC2 was hardly boring as it's the best Scifi 4x game to date next to MOO II and they stand hand n hand in the MAJORITY of players books. So I would just ignore anything he has to
I like Brad's idea best and yes this game should be moving CLOSER and CLOSER to GALCIV2 in play value and difficulty and AI approach. GC2 is the best scifi4x out there and I see no reason why Elemental shouldn't follow that path as well. I'm actually pretty sure it will but you will always have your naysayers no matter what you try to design and do. You will also have those that want to redesign the game for themselves like lordebonstone.
Quoting wynams, reply 3 cuz hex maps, AAA level polish and working multiplayer out of the box suck amirite? Enough "wynams". You don't have Civ V and I suspect you don't have Elemental. Another thing about Age of Wonders vs Master of Magic is it took away too much of the army feel of the game and made it more of an RPG romp than a fantasy stragety wargame. Nary a unit is a regiment they are all individuals and playing a stack in AOW felt more like playing a Gold Box RPG game. Fortunately Elemental brings the army stacks back again. 10 units with 10+ members per unit. A regiment of fighting units that feels like a regiment of fighting units instead of "Frodo goe

Railroad games are so easy to beat. All you have to do is float bonds till you get a nice rail line an income then buy all the open stock as the player and then have the railroad buy back all the bonds. When you buy that last bond your stock will skyrocket and you will go so far into the lead nobody will ever catch up especially the AI because it never counters this method by buying at least 1 bond of your railroad. I used to do this in Sid Meier's Railroad and Rails West (hah does anyone rem
Comparing CIV5 to Elemental is an insult against CIV. "...ain't the same ballpark, ain't the same league, ain't even the same fuckin' sport..." 'nuff said. Who gives a rats azz about CIV V here? This is a STARDOCK ELEMENTAL FORUM not some crappy CIV V forum for you to rave on about. Please lock this thread and send it to the abyss or to Civfanatics website please.
