On a side note, one GREAT thing about leaving pirates enabled is that when they come for you it's a great way to get your capital ships some XP to level up with. I usually let the pirates come (and expect that they will come my way first), wipe them out with proper defenses and not spreading my fleet too thin at first. Then my fleet is in a better position to start taking on enemy forces. Later in the game I'll start paying off the pirates to go after my enemies.

All these pages and not one mention of a dressing room for Demigods. It would be a side-game where you can have them try on different outfits and hats, have them pose for screenshots, act out different emotes, etc. Then as an addon you could have them build their own houses, apartments, condos. The amount of items and upgrades available to them are directly related to how well they do in the main part of the game. During the fighting part, they earn points that can be used to purchase new out
THIS IS NOT A CIVILIZATION IV CLONE
There, fixed it. It's clear the reviewer and all those others who are pining for the old days of Civ are really wanting Civilization IV: Expansion #3. Civ V, for me, is the best game to come out in a very long time. I'm getting massive amounts of enjoyment out of it and I'm a seasoned gamer, go figure.

The awesome bonus is sometimes the barbarians capture workers of City-States, and if you free those you get the option of keeping the worker, or returning him to the city-state for +30 influence. Here's my experience with it after only a couple of hours of multiplayer with some friends: IT'S FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! Since you didn't mention any specific problems you've heard about or explain what you mean by 'merits' I can't respond to your post except to give you my experience. And that is pretty much all subjective. The visuals are stunning, I love the art design. I like the fact that instead of using black for the unexplored regions, they use clouds. I played C

All this talk about Civ AI vs Elemental AI is pointless. It's not like Brad is a noob at writing AI scripts. Look at Gal Civ 2. Probably the best AI ever written (and that's not just me talking). The AI for Elemental sounds like it sucks at the moment (I don't have the game, just from what I hear), but I have faith that Brad will make it much better. If anyone can, it's him in my opinion.

Two things I've learned from this insightful thread: 1) There really ARE people in this world that will go to any extreme to make sure their stats are better than anyone else's in a game whose online community is completely dead. 2) If you are losing an argument and are flustered at what to say in rebuttal just call them names/degrade their character/demean their intelligence.

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

Above is all true. Sadly. My experience with the game: Shortly after I bought it I loved it. Played a few single-player games and was enthralled with it. Playing single-player was a real joy. But I knew that online was where the real fun would be. And it was for a brief period of time. Never really had any bad experiences. Hooked up with a couple of guys who were good at the game and learned a lot. Had the most fun in games where there was real competition between the teams, with no n

Came back to this game after having not played it in a good many months. Wanted to play a Pantheon game in single-player (I know it's called Pantheon in multi-player but can't remember at the moment if that is what it's called in single-player), and I only saw 4 Generals and 4 Assassins. Rook and Erebus were not on the list. There was no scroll bar or buttons to page down with at all. Back when I played this game regularly (which was pre-Demon Assassin and Oculus) I was able to play R

I envy you because I remember when I first got Sins and the absolute joy it was to get started playing it. The learning curve is not steep and it's a fun game to learn. I would suggest starting with the tutorials. Then play a random small or medium sized map. No teams, no modifiers. Keep everything on normal level. And just play around. Also, and this is a minor opinion but I would start as TEC. Get good at using that race and familiarizing yourself with their tech tree.
And mind you, this is a 2.5 year old laptop.
I remember your post about you getting the T400 and I remember being jealous because I had a T60 which was a year old at that time. So I went to my boss and asked about when we might get laptop upgrades and I suggested the T400. He said, 'Maybe in a year'. Well, I'm still using the T60 which makes it a 3.5 year old laptop and it's still running Windows XP. Our company recently determined that 'Laptops can last for 5 years'.<
