It's true that most -if not all- electronic devices aren't save, but alot of time & effort is needed to get specific systems open. Once quantum-based computer become real, the time for some of these hacking practices will be reduced to almost negligible time. You sure as hell can count the NSA in as topspot buyer!! Frankly, all terrorists know this - and those which try to be conspirative about their whereabouts & contacts won't use ANY electronic devices at all. O
So if I had the same point output, but olny 3 Research tiles, I would have been limited to three techs?
not tiles - *planets*. For example, let's say you start an all-rare galaxy as Thalan - and you never are able to colonize a secondairy planet. then you're limited to only being able to research 2 techs per turn. if you've got 2 planets - only 3 techs. 3 planets = 4 techs and so on..

to be more precise, off-type defenses get depreciated by their square-root, your example is correct though. but especially at extreme values, things behave much differently. if you have a ship with +100 off-type armor, it'll only absorb +10 fire, at best. but things look better at the other end of the line, a single +1 defense on any branch will work always flawless against any type of weapons. so, esp. in the beginning phases, some intelligent ship designs can be
This bit I don't get at all. AFAICT you're limited by the points you can produce. For example, I'm relatively late in my game, with lots of research points per turn. I switched over to the Shield branch for the heck of it (no opponents are using Beams) and completed seven (7) techs in the same turn: from Adv. Deflectors through Barriers 3. This with Slow tech. I'm playing TA instead of DA. Could t
Fascinating! Thanks. I was playing around with the setup and specified Saturn. I got a Saturn with an 800% Production tile, colonized Earth and it had a 800% Research tile! Maybe Mars has both! (Years ago I generated an Earth with both of those tiles, but somehow managed not to save the game setup. Arrgh!) I haven't read the Gameplay section yet, but I'll definitely get to it.

Yeah, your enemies homeworld should be located close to/at your border of influence you see on the minimap. Yes you take Korath, or better: you make yourself a Custom Race which uses the Spore-SA and that has all its points allocated to research, economics, moral, range/speed etc Actually Altarians are the very best race for this because of their inherent bonuses to these abilities, but in order to use them you need to do an ARC, but that should be explained in intricate detai

From 120k onwards. I've even played a 1.500k one, but see, these kind of games are only technically ZYW, but really are million-pointer all-abundant games which are just ended premature. actually a complete different kind of setup or game. A ZYW in its classic state is nevertheless very useful because you need just a bunch of minutes to complete it, that is, you could play an evening of repeated ZYWs and transmit several million points of score to the MV. Though the MV sco

DMF, this goes into the right direction but let me just add a few hints: - setup is; Dark Avatar; Gigantic all-rare galaxy, abundant anomalies, tight cluster, suicidal, un-check Blind Exploration, 0 Minor Races, Very Fast tech-speed - Korath (player) against Thalan (AI) - pick all bonuses to Research (!!!) as these are most important, with rest you pick economics & moral - change the alignment of Thalans to "friendly" in the last screen so you can cont

Well if final fate of the universe will be the BigFreeze then it will keep on expanding forever, and according to the laws of thermodynamics, the cooling down will last forever, so if you would like to display these 2 timeframes in a diagram one side would approximate to infinity. @Orbital 2000 if you want to get more control of the galactic map you'll have to contribute more score to the MV. I've taken a look at your first MV player, and you seem to play normal games,

It is kind of worrying though, if a black hole doesn't lose mass it would, effectively, be eternal which means that if the LHC produces a micro-black hole it might be cause for concern some day. Wouldn't eternal black holes contradict the currently popular cold death of the universe though?
It

Switzerland has a massive gun ownership rate, with army service being mandatory, and every member keeping their weapons at home, yet they have an even lower murder rate than Oz does. this is absurd companies running ads will just have more expenses, (which will increase product prices) so that potentially ads will be shown to those that actually installed an anti-adware. looser in this case is, as always, the general customer, (since prices go up) and the uninformed (since he doesn't know about this or doesn't care much about options...) it would really be nice if companies would focus more on quality & honesty as opposed to designed obsolesenc
An infinite universe... This has an interesting implication not many people think about. It means anything that can happen, will happen, has happened and will keep happening over and over and over. I'll try and illustrate this with an example. Say we have an infinite universe with only two types of particiles. X and O. For sanity sake, let's say these particiles only appear in groups of 2. With those rules

What needs to happen is that all systems running complexes that are needed by the majority of people, like Energy/Water/Medical/Food etc have to sever its tighs with the internet. And become closed standalone systems which don't allow outside connections - not even USB sticks etc - and that perhaps don't even allow any changes to the internal code at all. A computer is basically just a machine that fulfills a specific function, now in running an nuclear power plant that function can b

It's not as polished as the CU and takes a different approach to some problems (like all food improvements are One/Planet) that the CU likely does better. But it does a couple things better than the CU, IMO. E.g. the production bonus improvements. And his mods to the Minors make them more interesting, acting differently and in some cases more like little majors.&nbs

Relativity theorists say/claim that the universe is/and always has been infinite in size, that is, you would never be able to be at its border or edge, no matter how young or old it is or were you're located at. However, our own region of space, which we may call the observable universe now, is only a tiny fraction of that. That means that, outside of this observable universe, there exist an infinite amount of places which emit light right at us, at all times, and that qualifies for the s

For instance, Research Coords produce 6 RP (again iirc). Manufacturing Vortex 4 (?). You don't want them on your bonus tiles, but having one as a single is not so bad. Interestingly, the AIs rarely plop them on bonus tiles. I wonder if it looks at the output when deciding what to build there?
<
