- If you do a little recon, you can find the open source version of Transport Tycoon, which has multiplayer (as well as loads of mods you can use). - Dawn of War 2 has a great Co-op RTS campaign. It does have some RPG elements, but should be manageable. - Altitude is a fun multiplayer game with 2D dogfighting that you can play for free to some extent. Not sure how fast his ping is, but it should be fun to play against the computer (or each other).

I missed the switch from RTS to turn style, and I'm really disappointed. I'm not saying I won't enjoy the turn style - I was just really pumped about the Lords of Magic style of the game. To me, turn style fights are a bit too hardcore, and it scares me that it might hurt the size of Elemental's potential audience. I just don't care to spend a huge amount of time deciding who should be on what square - I'm a Summoner, I order my legions, I don't care whether a foot s
I thought about playing Elemental, but was afraid of having fun, so I didn't. Instead I played a bit of WoW - just starting out with my girlfriend, been a nice time killer so far. I also played League of Legends, my current standby.
Ender's Game combines the bug and hive mind tropes, and it was written in its first form in 1977. This successfully predates the movie Aliens and leaves us with an easy counter-point to the original debate. There are lots of variations of the bug/hive-mind theme in scifi novels that predate Ender's Game, but I'm not familiar enough with them to point to one that specifically relates. As for the Protoss, it really isn't hard to come up with an alien race that has s

I'm sure that Stardock didn't want the two games released at the same time, but with the Civ forums being in anger over Steam, competing directly might now be a good idea.
I doubt that they are changing their mind based on Civ 5. The best thing that Stardock can do for Elemental's sales
....Its not April first, is it?
They aren't saying you should/must use facebook, they are saying that the community features of Impulse are not a replacement for Facebook. Everyone has a familiarity with Facebook, so it is an easy benchmark. I would love a gaming service that provided me with the means to easily keep up with what my friends were playing, talk about games, and invite them to new games. Impulse and Steam both have taken steps in this direction - meaning they want to have Facebookish features
I really like this idea. One of the themes of Elemental's development is depth without complexity, and this slides right in. It does make city building placement matter (instead of right now, where its just a hassle). If it gets to be too complicated, its easy enough to take out.
I was at a friend's house, and played a little $1 game for the 360 called "Miner Dig Deep". You are a little miner dude, and you make tunnels and elevators to go deeper and deeper in the mine, so you can get resources, so you can upgrade your equipment... The whole game is very zen, as the only way you can die is via a cave in or falling down a sh

There. I said it.
I won't go that far, but there is a lot to be said for, say, Lords of Magic's faction names - Life, Death, Chaos, Earth, Air, Fire, etc. They may
It took me a few reads to get what the OP was getting at - and that is because the tradeoff decision he talks about isn't linked to the poll. People are not attached to the existing factions . Because of this, we are taking away stock races . Huh? If anything, to me, this means take away stock factions, or add in more races to make the factions more different and memorable. I am all for custom factions. I like the
Two different things: - Balance in a competitive RTS is tricky business. The rule of thumb is to balance it for the top level players, and eventually the skill level of lower level players will increase to reduce balance issues in their ELO bracket. You can't balance for the beginners and the experts. - I agree, certain tactics are extremely hard to deal with. With flying units and cliff walking units, the terrain seems to matter less and less. I rememb
If they do run out of keys at EB Games/Gamestop, you can cancel your order online with no questions asked. You can also go to their store and have the key printed on your receipt. You have to "activate" the key the store gives you, but once yolu figure out whats going on its not a big deal.
Nice to see some guys I know signing up. I'm Impossible.Impossible. :)
Code just arrived in my e-mail. Assuming my internet connection stays steady, things are looking up for tonight!
Still no code. Going to go to class, try and focus on statistics instead of siege tanks, and maybe if I'm a good boy Santa will bring me a present.
If they don't, you can cancel the pre-order and order it locally, assuming your local shop has codes (some have run out, some are fine).

And Pacov ty for posting about it you are a god among men.
How long did it take you to get your code after you purchased? I'm looking for signs that say I won't be getting one. :P
This is still a bit of a crap shoot, although I suspect less so than other means. In particular, the in-store method has them print the key on the receipt, and if you call ahead you can find out if they still have keys to give out. We will have to see if my bad luck holds out. :)
1. I've opted in on my two Blizzard accounts (I own two copies of Diablo 2 for item transfer purposes) 2. I've opted in to a PC Gamer contest for a key, but that has been the only one I've seen. 3. None of my friends have beta keys. 4. I do not know of said forum or said designer. 5. Blizzcon is on the West Coast, in here in Atlanta. The opt in and contests have been pretty selective, so far as I can tell. &n
I'd take Oak and Erebus over UB and Sedna in a 2v2 any day.
With the upcoming Demigod 2 vs 2 tournament, my desire to provide commentary for games has been renewed. In the process, I've found a wonderful way to waste my bandwidth. ONE: The Game itself Demigod isn't just an RTS - its a peer to peer RTS. That means for each additional player, you add in more upload requirements. With commentary, you need two extra players - that means I'm uploading and downloading data from five people. <s
I have a last minute request to switch alternates, hellabadass for socialistryan. If I missed the deadline, thats O.K.
I would like to register as well. FutileEmotion + Tshughes, with SocialistRyan as an alternate.
